PRINCIPALS MESSAGE
I am very excited to announce that in 2020 Gulgong Public School will be running the GOT IT program.
This program is designed to target children's social and emotional development. The GOT IT program is specifically aimed at students from Kinder to Year 2, however it comes with a program called Second Step which is designed for K-6 students. The aims of this program are as follows:
•Learn how to manage feelings and behaviours at home and school
•Build social skills to help make and maintain friendships more easily
•Develop problem solving skills and emotional skills
•Build children's confidence and resilience.
The GOT IT team train school staff in the implementation of this whole school social emotional learning program, provide information sessions, help refer to specialist services and run small targeted groups with students from school.
I believe this will be a very valuable program for our students and will help support positive behaviour changes for all students at our school. This program is run in conjunction with NSW health and Western health district.
I would encourage any parents interested in this program to attend the parent information sessions on Monday 25th November and see the flyer inside the Newsletter this week for more information.
Parents may also receive a call from the school if we believe yourself or your child may benefit from the small group sessions that are to be run by the GOT IT team.
We have opened our Primary oval and half of the infants oval today for the first time for students to play on the new turf. I have had a lot of questions about water and restrictions.
Water restrictions do apply to schools, however, we are using recycled water to water the school ovals and will continue to do so.
This is not covered by water restrictions and would otherwise be waste water. This is very beneficial to students at our school as they will now have a safe and soft area to play on rather than the rock hard dirt we were used to.
Best of luck this week to our students attending the 3Cubed Mathematics challenge in Mudgee and the Netballers attending the St Matthews Gala Netball day on Thursday.
