Developmental activity: (05 minutes)
Greet students, tell them that we are going to start a very interesting chapter about plants and will explore
different types of plants in our environment. Write the word “Plants” on writing board and ask students to
recall their memory and tell what they know about Plants?
Discussion/ Explanation: (15 minutes)
Describe students about “Plants”. Explain them that plants are living things, they grow and need
food. Describe them that plants need water and soil to grow.
Explain them that there are different types of plants in our surrounding.
Describe them that plants are generally green in color, and they are of different shapes and sizes.
Explain them that different plants grow in different places.
Group work: (15 minutes)
Organize students in different groups and take them to garden area of your school. Instruct students to look
in carefully and collect different leaves from the garden area. Bring students back to their classes, provide
each group with glue and newspaper, instruct students to dry the collected leaves in folds of newspaper and
using the glue paste them according to the given patterns from textbook page number 7 and paste them in
their notebooks or scrapbooks. Also instruct them to write the names of the plants.
Plenary: (05 minutes)
Conclude the lesson by asking students to name the different types of plants which they find in their garden
area.

Discuss with students about different types of plants.
Use flashcards of trees, shrubs, herbs, climbers, creepers and show them to students, check whether
they recognize different types of plants or not.
Discuss with students about trees.
Explain them that trees are big and strong.
Describe students about the structure of a tree. Explain them that a tree has roots, stem that is the
trunk, leaves etc.
Explain them that trees live for many years.
Describe them that trees give us shade and many useful things.
Discuss with students the uses of trees.

Display plant pot to students and ask them to name different parts of plant, use flashcard of plant if pot is
not available.
Ask students to name each part of the plant. Listen carefully and record their response on writing board.
Discussion/ Explanation: (20 minutes)
Describe students about the functions of different parts of the plant.
Explain them that leaf, fruit, stem, flower and roots are different parts of a plant.
Discuss with them about the parts which we can eat.
Discuss in detail the functions of each part of the plant.

While sitting in pairs students will solve activity time on page no. 10.
Homework:
Solve the provided worksheet (annexure 1.2).

Explain the process in which plants makes their food.
Discuss in detail the function of each part of plant in making food.
Discuss about different fruits that are either stem, seeds, roots or leaf.
Explain them how plants store sunlight from sun, takes water from the roots and make their food
and store them.

Discuss with students the words given in the let’s memorize list on page no. 10.
Discuss with them let’s revise from page no. 11 and recall the important concepts of the chapter.
Discuss if they had any query about the chapter.
Class work: (20 minutes)
Organize students in group of four and make three groups. Assign each group with one activity from exercise
Let’s Answer (B& C) on page no. 11, 12 and Let’s Do (C), and let’s acquire from page number 13. Students
will discuss the questions in groups and will solve them. Monitor them while they work in groups. Assist
them if they need any help.
Homework:
Do “Let’s enhance our life skills” from page no. 13. Make pictures of at least 5 animals using leaves.

Greet the students, ask them how are they introduce them with new chapter. Tell them that plants are our
friends. Brainstorm the knowledge of Plants by writing plants in the writing board and asking students what
comes in their mind, record their response in the form of cloud, students may tell fruits, vegetables, benefits
of plants etc. listen to students carefully.
Discussion/Explanation: (10 minutes)
In a time of 5 minutes ask students to quickly solve the activity time on page no. 14.
Describe students about the uses of plants, tell them that we get food from plants.
Explain them about the different food which we gets from plants.
Discuss with them that we get food from each part of the plant, explain them about food which we gets
from roots, stems, leaves, fruits, flowers and from seeds.
Explain them that each food has their own importance.

Provide students worksheet (annexure 2.1) and ask students to solve it.

Greet the students, ask them how are they? To start the lesson, prepare the
writing board, have small cuttings of fruits and vegetables. Draw two columns
on a chart paper and paste that chart paper on writing board, invite random
students and ask them to pick one cutting and paste it on the writing board under
the correct heading.
Discussion/Explanation: (20 minutes)
Discuss with students that we get fruits and vegetables from plants.
Discuss about different vegetables which can be eaten raw.
Discuss the importance of eating fruits and vegetables with students.
Instruct students to adopt the habit of eating fresh fruits and vegetables and make them a part of their
daily routine.
Explain students that we get jams, jellies and squash from fruits.
Discuss the “Let’s know more” from page no. 16 with students.

Greet students and how are they, start the lesson by asking them to look at page no. 22 of students book and
quickly ideentify the mentioned animals. Meanwhile teacher will paste animals chart on the writing board
and will randomly ask students to name either the animals are domestic or wild.
Record students response on writing board.
Discussion/Explanation: (20 minutes)
Discuss with students about domestic animals, ask students what are domestic animals and where do
they live?
Discuss with them about wild animals.
Explain them that wild animals live in zoo, jungles, safaris etc.
Discuss with them that wild animals can harm humans that’s why we cannot keep them in our homes.
Name some wild animals to students and using the animals chart from the writing board point out to
the wild animals.
Use multi-media projector and show a video related to wild animals so that students get better
understanding of the animals.

To check students prior knowledge ask students, what are wild animals? Where do they live? What do they
eat?
Discussion/Explanation: (30 minutes)
Quickly discuss with students about wild animals.
To check students’ knowledge play simple game in the class.
Wild animal’s word cards game:
Use wild animal’s cards in a pocket chart on the wall of your writing center. Include a
set of picture-word cards in writing center pocket chart that matches current theme.
Students can take the word cards out of the pocket chart and take them to the table to
copy onto their paper. It’s simple to slip them back into the pockets when they’re done.
Make little picture dictionaries by punching a hole in the corner and hooking them together with binder
rings.

paper pasted on the soft board. Once done, teacher will make a word web on the writing board and read out
loud the words one by one that students have written. While reading, she will write the relevant words on
the board, discussing how the words written on board are related to animal’s food

From student’s feedback, inform students that food is equally important for animals as it is for human
beings.
Inform them that animals also need food to grow and to survive.
Describe them about plant eater animals.
Introduce them with the term “herbivores” by telling that plant eating animals are called herbivores.
Show flashcards of some animals that are plant eater animals.
Explain them that wild animals like giraffe, elephant and hippopotamus also eats plants.
Refer to page number 24 of students book, ask random student to read the text.
Explain them about animals that eat flesh only, these animals are called flesh eaters or carnivores.
Tell students that animals like tiger, lion, crocodile and leopard kill other animals and eat their flesh.
Explain students that some animals like vulture, hyena and fox eat the flesh of dead animals and
