2.1 GENERALSTAGEDIMENSIONS

The show requires aminimum stage depth of 7000mm from the setting line and an idealwidth ofwalltowall,and9000mmstagewidthbetweenmaskinglegs.TheProduction requires a completely clear stage, and request that backstage and loadingdock areclearfromthecommencementoftheBump-in.StandardLegsandBorderswillbeutilisedifperformedinaProsceniumArchvenue.AblacksmotherisrequestedUSoftheset.Preferreddepthis7000mmfromSettingLinealthoughbetween7000mmto11000mmUSofthesettinglineisacceptable.TheentirestageareaMUSTbeclearofallitems–includingbins,ladders,EWP’sandlightingracks.

2.2 PROSCENIUMDIMENSIONSTheoriginalproductionwasperformedintheSouthbankTheatre,LawlerStudio–ablackboxstudiowithtieredseatinginanendonconfiguration.Therequiredminimumprosceniumopeningforthisproductionis:Width: 7,800mmHeight: 5,000mm

2.3 LOADINGDOCKTheProductionrequiresminimumdimensionsforthedockdoorof:Width: 850mmHeight: 2000mmAccesstotheloadingdockmustbelevelandwithoutanyobstacles.Itispreferablefortheloadingdocktobeatstagelevel.

2.4 STAGESURFACETheVenue’sstagesurfacemustbecleanandlevel.Terrapinmustbeabletoaffixtothestagefloorusing20mmtechscrewsorsimilarmeans.

2.5 FLYINGSYSTEMThereisnoflyingduringtheperformance.

2.6 RIGGINGREQUIREMENTSTheArch/Slashcurtainisriggedwithtwo(2)dropperstokeepitvertical;howeverthesetpieceisgrounded,andremainsstaticfortheentireperformance.Itissecured(screwed)tothefloorateitherendanddoesnotneedtobeflownatanystage.Droppersandreutlingercablegripstobesuppliedbytouringcompany.

2.7 ACCESSEQUIPMENTTheVenueisexpectedtosupplysuitableaccessequipmentwhichmustbeinfullworkingorder.1xSinglePersonElectricLiftrequiredwithreachtolightingpositionsrequiredforlightingfocus.


2.8 MASKINGAllMaskingprovidedbyvenueandshouldbeinplacepriortoscheduledbump-in:

2.10 FOHCONTROLPOSITIONAudioplaybackincludingmixing,musicandsoundeffectsisoperatedbytheTouringTechnicianfromaFOHcontrolposition.LightingiscalledbytheTouringStageManagerandoperatedbytheTouringTechnicianfromFOHpositonsuchasvenuecontrolroom,unlessthereisinsufficientroomavailabletoaccommodatethetouredlightingdeskinwhichcaseanalternativeoperatingposition,suchasrearofauditorium,willneedtobearranged.

2.11 DRESSINGROOMSANDOFFICESTheProductionrequiresthefollowingofficesanddressingrooms:

2.12 BUMP-INStaffingfortheBump-inisshownintheProductionSchedule,sendasattachment,orrefertosection4.2ofthisdocumentforasummary.Themajorityofbump-intasksaredepartmentspecifichoweverwerequireassistancefromallrosteredvenuestafftoassistwithunloadingthetruckandassemblingtheset.ManualHandlingrequirementshavebeenminimisedasmuchaspossiblewithinthedesignandconstructionoftheset,whichisasimplebolttogetherassembly.

2.13 BUMP-OUTForstaffing/timerequirementspleaserefertofullProductionscheduleorsection4.3ofthisdocumenttoviewasummary.Asperbump-inrequirements,venuestaffarerequiredtoassistwithbasicmanualhandlingtasksandunloading/loadingthetruck.

3. EnvironmentHealth&Safety

3.1 RISKASSESSMENTTheRiskAssessmentfortheproductionisaseparatedocument,sentasanattachment.

3.2 SPECIALPERFORMANCECONDITIONSTherearenospecialperformanceconditionsforthisproduction.AnMSDSareavailableforitemscoveredwithintheriskassessmentincludingArrowrootpowder(a.k.aTapiocaflour).Afewhandfulsofwhite“snowlike”confettiisused,manuallythrownintheairbycastonstage.MSDSfortheArrowrootpowderisavailable,sentasanattachment.

5.1 GENERALSETDESCRIPTIONTheSETforEggconsistsofanArchwaywithSlashCurtain,agroundrowreferredtoasthePlayboard,andmultipleplyshapesthatassembletobecometheEggTree.Theproductionalsocontainspuppets,aslistedbelow,andaseriesofpropsincludingjewellery,silverware,millinery,eyewear,oldfashionedtoolsanddomesticitems.Furtherdescriptionoftheindividualitemsislistedbelow:ArchwithSlashCurtain:Anarchwayconstructedfromasteelframe,cladwithply.Thearchsitsonthefloorateitherside,butiskeptverticalviatwoSWRdroppers.100mmwidestripsofpvcandplasticfabricsareattachedtoplycoversthatboltontotheUSfaceoftheArch.Playboard:Atimberframed,plycladgroundrowset850mmdownstageoftheArch/SlashCurtain.ItisusedasaperchforthepuppetsandhasadditionaltwodimensionalshapesmadeofplythataremountedonthebackofthePlayboardtowhichslideupanddowntobeinoroutofview.EggTree:MadefromsevenindividualpiecesofvaryingshapesthatassembletogetherviaspigotsandsleevestomaketheEggTree.PiecesareregisteredwithLettersAtoHalthoughpieces“E”and“D”arepermanentlyjoined.Whenassembled,thesurfaceofonesideofthetreeisflatply,thereversesidehas2.5dimensionaldetailingtogivetheimpressionofeachpiecebeingabuildingwhichisdisplayedwhenpiecesareseparated.Additionalfeaturesexistinthefollowingpieces:

- PieceA:Containsaretractablerollerblind(notusedintheshow)- PieceB:Hasa removable lid (attachedwithmagnets)which isdressedwithpracticalprops.

The inside of the box is also dressed with “precious things” that are mostly non-practicalprops.Setelectrics,comprisingofLEDstrip,batteryandpressureswitchwhichactivatesthelightsourcewhenthelidisremoved,arefittedwithinthispiece.

- PieceF:Hasahingedsidewhichopens to reveala lightbox.This isused to revealabacklitusedasanX-Rayof theOvopuppet. Therefore the contentsof thispiece includeLED strip,batteryandpressureswitchwhichactivatesthelightsourcewhenthelidisopened.

Puppet-Ovo:Ahand-madepuppetthatappearsasagrub-likecreaturewithalargeface,operationalbeak,multiplelimbs(twoofwhichareoperational),asmoothfrontandafurcoveredback.TheOvopuppetisextendableto“grow”inlength,hasextendableantennaandasetofwingsthatisaseparatepiecebutattachestoits’backplate.Puppet–Egg:Alarge“nest”forOvo,muchlikeacocoon.Madefromvariousrecycledmaterialsithasasoftinteriorandtexturedfabricouterlayertowhichvarious“foundobjects”areattached.ThisEgghasaslitatthebasetoallowthepuppettobetakenin/out,andisdraggedalongthefloorbutaropeandcarabiner.ThisEggalsodoublesasatravelcasefortheOvopuppettoofferprotection.Puppet–PartialEgg:thisisa1/3versionofthefullEgg,representingit“underconstruction”.Itisalsoreferredtoasthe“Brokenegg”asitsplitsapartinordertobeputbacktogetherduringthecourseoftheshow.Theslitsaresecuredtogetherviauseofmagnets.Puppet–Tinkerfigures:SmallwoodenreplicasoftheTinkercharacters.Thesehaveatrigger-actionoperationwhicharticulatethearmsandlegstoachieveawalkingaction.OtheritemsareusedinconjunctionwiththeTinkerpuppetstorepresentotherfullsizepropsintheshowincludingtheEggandoversizedbackpack.

production.- The Production requires control of the Venue House Light system from the Lighting Console

position. It should be dimmable, and fade times adjustable to suit the Lighting Designrequirements.
