It all started in 2010. Brian and Jamey Elrodwere eating dinner when the idea came. They were in a busy restaurant with a fussytoddler, trying to pay and leave but unableto reach their server. “Why can’t you just text them?” Jameyasked, holding her phone. “That’s a good question,” said Brian. Jamey scratched the idea on a piece ofpaper that night and left it on her bedsidetable. What if you could text a business? The Elrods had been serial entrepreneursas long as they’d been married — about 20years at this point — and a few previousventures had been highly successful. Theirgears were turning, they had recognized aproblem that needed a solution! You couldcall and email a business, but you couldn’ttext a business.
ABOUT TEXT REQUEST
They started researching apps andsoftware that might already solve thisproblem, and they found nothing. Theyexperimented with a mobile app andpotential partners, but were not satisfieduntil 2014, when they were introduced toRob Reagan. Rob had been a full-time softwareconsultant for 10 years, and worked for S&Pand ExxonMobil before that. He was good, the best in town the Elrods were told. Rob, Jamey, and Brian hit it off, and thethree partnered to create an onlinesoftware called Text Request that would letbusinesses manage text messagesprofessionally from a computer or tablet.Text Request launched in November 2014,in Chattanooga where all three partnershad grown up and already built successfulbusinesses.
