Tall Fescue
GAZELLE II
Description: Gazelle II tall fescue was developed by Pure-Seed Testing, Inc. Gazelle II is a low-growing, fine-textured tall fescue. It has high wear tolerance and resistance to brown patch, net blotch, and stem rust. Gazelle II performs well in sun or shade.
Applications: Gazelle II is adapted for lawns, sports fields, sod production, golf course roughs, parks, slopes, and cemeteries. Gazelle II can be managed with fewer mowings than other tall fescues, because of its low growth habit. The combination of low growth habit and disease resistance makes Gazelle II a good choice for turfs in the Transition Zone.
Geographical Adaption: Gazelle II performs well in the Transition Zone and temperate climates. It is adapted to a wide range of soil types and pH. Rec-ommended seeding rate is 5-8 lb/1000 ft2 (245-390 kg/ha). Fertilize at 3-5 lb N/1000 ft2/yr (145-245 kg/ha); mow at 1.5-3.0” (4-8 cm); irrigate deeply and infrequently.
