About the CourseThis course will provide a practical overview of the convergent structure, process, management, training, and system fea-tures that improve the outcomes for hospitalized patients and the frontline professionals who care for them. The course will draw upon Accountable Care Units (ACUs) with Structured Interdisciplinary Bedside Rounds (SIBR), a model which has been implemented in multiple hospitals in the U.S. and Australia and has also been included in the project portfolio of the CMS Innovation Center. Who Should AttendThis pre-course is aimed at all professionals with an interest in designing hospital care towards greater quality, reli-ability, accountability, and patient-centeredness, including hospital unit leaders (e.g. physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals); hospital leadership (e.g. executive leadership, nursing leadership, clinical governance, and quality and safety officers); and medical and nursing educators (e.g. directors of training and professional development programs).

OBjECtiVEs:At the conclusion of this activity participants will be able to:n Describe features of a hospital ward structure designed to optimize outcomes, i.e. the Accountable Care Unit (ACU)n Explain and incorporate features of a patient-centered teamwork model called Structured Interdisciplinary Bedside Rounds (SIBR)n Describe the influence ACU-SIBR care model on unit outcomes
