In Summary: Pastor Bill encouraged everyone to read through the reports if they had not yet done so. He said that it is great to read the reports and to be aware of all that took place during the past year. Bill also thanked a number of people saying the ministry of the church can’t be done without the help of many people. He thanked the wives of the pastors for their help alongside their husbands and for supporting their work and also for their own involvement in different areas of ministry. He also thanked Becky for her work as secretary and the Deacons and Trustees. He thanked Dawn Hartson for her work with the Children’s Ministry and for taking charge of the Safety Plan training and background checks for all of the ministry workers. He also said that we now have a safety policy in place and have started having hallway safety monitors in on Sunday mornings. Bill asked for a round of applause for all the leaders and volunteers that are involved in all the different areas of ministry and said it takes everyone working together to make things work and run smoothly week after week. “State of the Church”: Bill said that the Board is working on reviewing policies and getting them all in writing and creating a policy book. This process was started in 2016 and will be working on completing it in 2017. There are plans to build a storage building later in the year to help eliminate the current lack of storage. He also said that they have posted the position for a new youth pastor and are starting to receive resumes. They will be reviewing the resumes and will start the process of interviewing potential candidates. Steve and Erin Arsulic have stepped in to lead the youth group in the interim.

The board is looking at the possibility of making the Worship Leader position a part time position and will possibly be looking locally for someone to fill this position. He said they hope to have something solidified in the coming weeks and asked everyone to keep the Praise Team in prayer during this transition period. He said that he appreciates Mark Hostetler for stepping in for now and Kelly Hertrick will also be helping some during the transition time. Bill said that they will start looking for a Children’s Ministry Pastor later in the year after some of these other things have been settled. This person would be responsible for all areas of children’s ministry including Nursery, Jr. Church, AWANA, Trunk or Treat, etc. Bill said that they are going to be starting an AWANA North program and will be meeting at Ashtabula City Schools. He said the need is great up north and asked for prayers as they move ahead with this new outreach ministry. He said that they are looking to have additional training for both North and South AWANA staff during the summer and to also restructure the program to minimize the cost or possibly eliminate the cost to the students that are participating. They are looking to create a policy/employee handbook for all staff to help keep everyone accountable. They are also looking at reworking job descriptions for the staff. He said that we are looking to add a Medic Team to the GRACE Team. We are also looking at ways to get people connected to the body and to ministries within. There is always room for improvement in this area. Old Business: None Ballots The ballots were passed out to the members present and Bill reviewed the ballot and noted one correction. Budget: Josh Gottron said that the board has looked at some financial policies and are working on making some changes. He said that the Board has established a Financial Committee that consists of Terry Klebes, Marcy Godleski and Jeff Watson. The committee is looking at policy and procedures regarding the finances which include how the money is counted and deposited. Online giving is now available through the EBC website. There is a “Give” link that people can go to and it will go through at secure third party vendor. You will be able to select different areas that you want the donation to go to, general fund, building fund, The Vine or missions. A bank draft is the only option available because they only charge 1% for all donations. You will be able to set it up to track what you donate through this link. Josh moved on to the budget and treasurer’s report. He said the Vine Food Pantry is not included in the budget because they are self sufficient. The general fund goes for all areas and benevolence is above and beyond the general fund. He said that the Mission budget is 10% of the total plate for the previous year. Building fund donations goes directly to the building fund. We are below one million now and have 100 payments left on the building without any principal only payments. Josh highlighted a couple of other areas including some potential savings with some changes in healthcare for 2017. He said the total proposed income for 2017 is $850,000 which is less than the previous year. Some reasons for this is there will be less staff expenses for 2017. The church improvement has been increased because of the plan to build a new storage building. AWANA currently collects $35 from the students to help cover some of the expenses but the board has decided to increase the AWANA budget to hopefully keep the costs for the students minimal or no cost at all. Bill added that the net income compared to the net expenses were both less than the proposed for 2016. He noted that the plate for the year was lower that what was expected to be needed but the actual expenses were also lower. Mary Bentley commented that the expenses were more than what was received in the plate and asked if this was the first time this has happened. Bill replied that is the first time in a long time that expenses have been more that receipts. Josh asked if there were any other questions. There were none be he encouraged everyone to email if they ever had any questions. Bill also commented that we had more in the general fund than ever before. He also thanked Josh for all of his work with the finances of the church. Voting The results of the election of officers were announced. All nominations were accepted with the majority in agreement. The ballot was approved as follows: • Deacon Ken Bentley • Trustee Dan Moore • Trustee Scott Godleski • Clerk Rita Miklacic • Proposed Budget – 2017 Approved

New Business: None Comments: Renee Myers thanked everyone for the prayers and support for Steve. Bill thanked Chuck Drenik for all that he does behind the scenes with the building and grounds. Dawn Hartson thanked all the volunteers that help each week with the children. Brenda Fox said that she appreciated the work that the AWANA staff does for the children. Jeff and Rachel Scribben thanked everyone for the cards and visits during Jeff’s illness. Charlie Leighner moved to adjourn the meeting and Joanna Miklacic seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned and Bill closed the meeting in prayer.

recently lost a loved one by assisting with burdening concerns such as light housekeeping, funeral dinners, and house sitting. (Cathy Moore: 440-969-3223, [email protected])

TEAM ACTIVITY: We have a special team of 14 ladies who are always available to help out by serving, cooking or baking. We were able to serve 7 families with dinners this year. We also contributed to other funerals outside the church by providing meat and cheese trays, veggie and fruit trays, etc. Thank you to all who served! - Cathy

BRIDGE GRACE Bridge seeks to bridge our newcomers into Eagleville Bible Church and

make them feel welcome and connected to the church family by providing them with welcome packets, sending cards, and organizing special events. (Jeff Scribben: [email protected])

CARDS GRACE Cards seeks to see the church working as a caring family expressing

concern for each other. The team sends cards to persons or families where there has been a loss, an accident, an operation or serious illness, a major achievement, or to those who have recently been out of touch. (Peggy Otto: 440-576-6151, [email protected]) TEAM ACTIVITY: The Grace card team has done a wonderful job this year keeping up with all our requests. We hope we have been able to provide each need with love, prayers and compassion. We have 54 members that have been on top of each request that Becky brought to our attention. In 2017, we sent out a total of 86 cards and a multitude of prayers. We had 28 Baptisms, 36 Get Well / Thinking of You, 21 Sympathy, and 1 special Birthday Card. The purpose of our Grace Card Team is to reach out to our EBC families and friends if and when a need arises. We want each one to know we are thinking about them, praying for them and sending our love to help carry them through whatever their need is. We hope it helps knowing how much we care. We aren’t just speaking for ourselves, we are speaking for all of EBC. We are family! I am so proud of each of our Grace Card Team members because they are ready and willing at a moment’s notice to reach out and give their support. Thank You, team - you are an amazing group! - Peggy

MEALS GRACE Meals seeks to see people in our church family supported by supplying meals where the main meal provider is not able due to a birth, death, illness, an accident, or other difficult circumstances. (Cathy Moore: 440-969-3223, [email protected]) TEAM ACTIVITY: We have approximately 39 meal cookers on the team! We served 34 meals in 2017, in addition to the many behind the scenes helpers, small groups, etc. Thank you to all who participated this year. You are all so appreciated. - Cathy

MILITARY OUTREACH GRACE Military Outreach was set up to support the faith of Christians in

military service as well as to encourage those without faith to trust and know Jesus Christ. We strive to do this through regular mailings, cards, and care packages. (Cathy Moore: 440-969-3223, [email protected]) TEAM ACTIVITY: Our Military Outreach has basically come down to our Armed Forces/Veterans Day Breakfast. We celebrated our 3rd annual in 2017, having 30 or so veterans in attendance. With family and friends serving about 100. We had entertainment and giveaways. Please come out in 2018 to support our veterans and those who are now serving - volunteers always welcome! Thank you to all who give of their time and resources to make this a great event! We also have a group of ladies who make their own lovely cards. If you have anyone who needs a card in the military serving in the states or abroad, please contact me. - Cathy

VISITATION GRACE Visits seeks to see the lonely in the church family encouraged. The

team visits the elderly, the sick, the hospitalized, and those separated from routine contact with our church family.

CARE TEAM Our Care Team was established to compliment our GRACE Teams efforts

and to assist the pastors in visiting members in the hospital. (Bill and Elaine Sespico, 440-998-6273) TEAM ACTIVITY: During the year 2017, the Care Team made a few visits. Due to the extremely short hospital stays of patients, sometimes our timing is not perfect. We have some dedicated members who are ready to go almost on a moments notice barring any unforeseen circumstances. Our team is comprised of John Mikolaj, Pat and Charlie Norris, and Elaine and Bill Sespico. Notifying the Church office is the most important step if you or a family member are in the hospital. As we begin 2018, we have already made a few visits and some phone calls. Let's hope we see each other at Church and not in the hospital; however, should you find yourself in need, please contact the church and let us know so we can be praying for you regardless of location. – Bill Sespico

The Missions Team watches over our missionary’s needs, keeps the congregation informed about the missionary’s ministries, and seeks to find new missionaries to support. The Missions Team meetings are open for anyone who wants to attend. Our goal is to support missionaries whose mission matches our church’s of making disciples for Jesus Christ. The team also seeks to find ways to raise awareness and to encourage people to engage in missions. The mission’s budget is based on 10% of the last year’s general offering. Here is a list of missionaries we support, where they serve, mission agency and support level: NAME AREA MISSIONAGENCY SUPPORT/MOChristianFaithAcademy Ashtabula ChristianSchool $200.00

This past year, in addition to supporting our regular missionaries, we supported one person who went on short term mission trip. We had two missions meetings this year, one where we were given an update by Elizabeth Lovejoy and one where we talked to Kouami Medekor after he spoke at church. Through missions, we also gave $1000 toward rebuilding a church in Nepal that had been damaged by an earthquake. We also gave $1000 to the Koproski’s as Elizabeth’s cancer is back. As mentioned, Kouami gave the sermon in July and our church was very generous as money was given for three motorcycles for pastors, $1700 was donated for water wells, and another $1800 was given as a love offering. Ron Houp from GO ministries gave the sermon in early December, and presented the church with a short term mission trip opportunity to Honduras (July 6 - 14). The trip leader is Larry Montgomery, and Terry Klebes is our church contact person. Trip cost is $1335 plus airfare. More information will be coming for this trip. This coming year, we look forward to missionaries visiting when they are on furlough. The Mission’s Committee will have meetings every quarter or as needed. The team also keeps in contact by email. I hope to update the email list for those interested in missions. Please remember that we have some information about missions and our missionaries on display in the chapel. Feel free to stop in and review at any time.

The year of 2017 has seen some incredible transformations and changes that have made our Children’s Ministries programs a stronger and more connected environment for our kids. We have seen leaders moving on and leaders moving up by helping educate, nurture, and support Eagleville’s mission of evangelizing to kids. Our volunteers are a dedicated group. Their strength and consistency help welcome children and their parents into an environment that is filled with joy and the wonderful power of living a life in Christ.

Serving in an ever-changing environment can have its challenges, but it keeps us on our knees and dependent on prayer for answers that sometimes only Christ can give us. We are seeing these prayers answered by the involvement of the entire body of Christ. It takes a village to bring up a child. We see this concept through the many hands that give their time from cleaning and maintenance, trustees making decisions, faithful pastors (and wives) stepping in whenever needed in multiple areas, young couples who are willing to step up to the plate, youth that are inspiring and dedicated in their commitment in helping, as well as parents and grandparents. The list goes on and on. If you are intrigued by this, come on and volunteer - it is worth the time you give.

Improvement in various areas has helped and is needed. These areas are:

• Changing service times has made a better use of volunteers • Dividing helper/child ratio helps make a safer environment • Improving curriculum in the toddler area due to limited attention spans • Establishing relationships with parents/legal guardians • Encouraging and welcoming new visitors • Transitioning toddlers to junior church so that they can become accustomed to

a new environment • Evangelism to kids is growing • Encouraging and training new volunteers • Visuals need to be placed in the hallway so that we KNOW where our kids and

adult classrooms are • Communication on what services we do offer to everyone

In the nursery/toddler ministries, there is always an opportunity to nurture and enjoy our babies and toddlers. I have noticed that by creating an environment of consistency in our volunteer area, the kids respond by knowing who we are. The simplest things we take for granted may bring comfort to a little one. Things like calling them by their name when they first come to class or just recognizing that they also have tiny personalities and challenges they too face in their lives. They are smart and can understand praise and compassion.

My husband Dan and I are so grateful for the volunteers who are serving. Your commitment and the love that you show is a gift from God. If you feel the calling in your heart to serve, don’t wait. Let’s get you trained. You will receive more than you could ever give.

Thank you,

Dawn Hartson (Nursery/Toddler Core leader)

Last year, the AWANA South (Rock Creek) program had approximately 75 kids participating between the Cubbies, Sparks, and T&T programs. AWANA North (Ashtabula) began in January of 2017 and sought out the help of the Ohio AWANA Ministry Team. Ken and Melinda Cogley came to offer their expertise in getting AWANA North up and running and also had pointers to get AWANA South running more smoothly in the next school year. By the end of the year, AWANA North had approximately 30 kids attending.

In August, the Cogleys came to EBC and had an evening of training and exercises for all AWANA volunteers. Volunteers also had background checks with Dawn Hartson’s help. Some of the great things that have come out of our collaborations with the Cogleys are new games (kids love the stacking sets), and an approach to the curriculum that is less confusing for leaders and kids called “Together We Move”.

This year, the Sparks (K-2) all began in the Sky Stormer book and are working on a new verse each week. The T&T kids (3-5) are all working through the new book called Evidence of Grace at the same rate. This year, Nikki Lane is using the Apple Seed Curriculum (rotates every other year).

AWANA South now has 91 children enrolled and continues to meet on Wednesday nights using the Rock Creek Elementary School. There are 15 Cubbies (preschoolers), 35 Sparks (K-2), and 41 T&T kids (grades 3-5) registered. The majority of the small group leaders from last year returned to help lead the children. Rita Miklacic greets the children and keeps track of attendance and awards using MOZO (an online AWANA tool). Sarah Holbrook leads games and Karen Sly or Erin Arsulic leads the large group lessons. The Cubbies program is under the outstanding direction of Nikki Lane. There are about two dozen adults who are regularly volunteering in this ministry every Wednesday from September through April. When Scripture is memorized, it is awarded with AWANA patches. When kids show great participation or behavior, they receive Bible Bucks that they can spend at Store Night which occurs at Christmastime and at the end of the year.

The AWANA South Commander, Karen Sly, is working with the AWANA North Commander, Bill McMinn, to keep the clubs running as similarly as possible with regards to curriculum and theme nights. The clubs are nearly mirror images of each other in that regard.

AWANA North has about 30 children on average and over 20 leaders who volunteer their time to help out. Our aim is to be loving, fun, and biblical. We realize that the Word of God is the foundation for life so scripture memory and teaching are vital. We also want every child to have fun and to sense love!

Jeff and Rachel Scribben are working with the Cubbies (3 yrs – pre K) and the rest of the volunteers work with the Sparks (K-2) or the T & T (3-6th). We go a little older in the north as some of those children do not have the same access to Eagleville’s Student Ministry as the south county does. It’s a very diverse group which is dynamic. We have been blessed to see at least one family begin to attend Eagleville as a result of the club and we’ve invited many others to join us on Sunday Mornings. Jeri McMinn teaches most nights, with Cathy Bashore and Pat Norris sometimes teaching as well and all do an outstanding job. The games are led by Don Palm on many nights and on other nights Bill McMinn, Bill Zetlaw, Ken Ridenour, and Joe Chiacchiero help lead them. Natalie Banta, Pat Norris, Charlie Norris, Tina Ridenour, Sarah Palm, Lora Chiacchiero, and Sandy Keefer all help lead small groups. The Mullen’s granddaughter is a big help too and we appreciate her! She’s serving from a young age which is awesome. Bill and Elaine Sespico keep track of the registration and are a huge blessing! Everyone jumps in and helps as needed.

Both of the AWANA clubs have incredible volunteers who do an amazing job! Working with children is a true blessing!

The Children’s Christmas Program of 2017 was entitled “Christmas Letters”. We held this production on Sunday, December 3rd at 6:30 pm in the evening. Featured were 50 - 60 children from ages 3 through 5th grade, of which 30 were 3 and 4 year olds. A parent choir joined the children on the song “Christmas Offering” this year. There were also teens and adults participating in the drama portion. We followed our traditional format of readings, Bible verses, songs and the ever popular bell choir. Our production was followed by a “Happy Birthday Jesus Party”. The children did an amazing job practicing for this program. Song practices were held the first portion of Junior Church from late-October to mid-November and we held drama and bell practices in between services during much of that time. Our children attended a dress rehearsal the day before the production as well. Thank you to all of the parents, teachers, and others for their help in ministering to the 300+ that attended. And thank you to those families that came out to support our kids!

Respectfully submitted,

Nancy Gottron

We had a wonderful week (7/10-14/17, 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm) as we all, adults and kids alike, plunged into God’s wonderful Word! We had a flurry of fun and excitement at Operation Arctic! On our thrilling expedition, we uncovered the coolest book on the planet—the Bible!

Attendance We had an average of 84 kids each day with a top showing of 92 kids on Thursday.

Food Pantry Collection We held a competition between the boys and girls to support our EBC Vine Food Pantry. Together, our children collected 200 food items and $192.38 in cash for our pantry! Way to go kids! Volunteers A training luncheon was held July 2nd to provide volunteers with information regarding the upcoming week. It was well received and appreciated by those involved. Over 50 adult and youth volunteers served throughout the week. Countless others helped prepare for the week by donating supplies, and time (cutting and prepping crafts and decorations, decorating the church, etc.). Curriculum The children enjoyed several different rotations each night: worship rally, crafts, Bible lesson, snacks, games, and an ending rally/video story. Each rotation was developed through the use of the Answers in Genesis curriculum as well as with some input from individual leader’s and/or team’s unique ideas. VBS Sunday The Sunday after VBS was also our outside United Service and picnic. It was determined that location and audio-visual obstacles would make it too complicated for the children to perform this year as they have in previous years. Congregation feedback was that this tradition was missed. Including this in next year’s schedule may be a good idea. It was also noted that changing the date to later in the summer (because of unavoidable scheduling conflicts) was not the best case scenario, and it is recommended to schedule VBS in late June next year. Budget

The VBS budget was sufficient for 2017, and it is my recommendation that it does not

require any revision for 2018.

Junior Church In our Junior Church ministry, we have had the great privilege of sharing the Gospel with the children attending EBC over the last year. We are very grateful for the opportunity to share and invest in the lives of these children each and every week and have seen up to 80+ children each Sunday. We have an incredible team of committed volunteers that make it possible to share the Gospel in an effective manner with these children each Sunday. Halfway through 2017, we consolidated our Junior Church program back down to two services. This gave us the opportunity to mirror both services both in structure and content. It also gave us the opportunity to welcome more volunteers, especially in our 1st service. A big thank you to all who volunteer in this vital ministry! We ended the year with the following numbers:

• 8:45 am – 15 volunteers rotating • 10:30 am – 14 volunteers rotating

FOOD PANTRY HIGHLIGHTS In 2017, the pantry continued to grow and add new customers. To date, we have over 400 families registered with the Vine. God continues to bless this ministry through both the customers and the volunteers. Most importantly, we continued to see relationships grow with our customers this year and have noticed many are attending EBC on a regular basis.

Total for 2017 – 2185 people / 635 households served Here is a snapshot from our web-based system where we collect our weekly statistics. The table below summarizes the information above along with some addition stats (children, seniors, etc.). It reflects the totals for all months in 2017, where we were able to assist the Rock Creek community with food.

HOLIDAY GIFT BASKETS In addition to providing food each month to the Vine families, we were able to provide special meals at the holidays to our customers:

• In November, we handed out 79 Thanksgiving Dinner Baskets (a turkey and all the items needed for a Thanksgiving meal) for each family who signed up to receive one. This year, we involved our Student Ministry group. They organized the food and assembled all of the dinner baskets prior to distributing them to the families.

• In December, we handed out Christmas Dinner Baskets which were provided by our EBC church family to 90 of our food pantry families. The baskets were wonderful once again this year! Thank you EBC family for being the generous hands and feet of Christ to these families -- not only in providing great meals and treats, but also for providing toys to the children! Your kindness and generosity were overwhelming to both the volunteers and the families! Also, thank you to anyone who volunteered their time to help distribute the holiday gift baskets on event day!

DONATIONS

We have had various food donations and monetary donations made throughout the year which have totaled approximately $10,821.79 from both individuals and organizations. Again, we appreciate and use all donations. Every penny goes directly towards food assistance for our food pantry families. Thank you!

VOLUNTEERS Many thanks to Mary Lou Plut and Angela Young for faithfully serving each and every day the pantry is open. Becky McGill helps daily by fielding phone calls, questions, and organizing meeting times for people who call into the church. Pete Miklacic faithfully does all of our home deliveries and Cleveland Food Bank pickups throughout the month. Pat Norris and Patty White do all of the food shopping for the pantry, which is a huge task! Additionally, many thanks to the following pantry workers who volunteered in 2017 (please forgive me if I have missed anyone): Brenda Fox, Michelle Hobbs, Tracey Knight, Betty Watson, Eugene Harvey, Sylvia Baron, Tammy Barchanowicz, and Carole Brown. THANK YOU! It takes the support of the entire church body for the pantry to function, and we will continue to need your support and generosity in 2018. Without your donations, prayer, and willingness to volunteer, we could not meet the needs of the community around us. God has been faithful to provide for this ministry in 2017. Let’s pray together that God will continue to use us in 2018 as the hands and feet of Jesus Christ in our community through the Vine! Thank You!

EBC Trustees Keith Applebee Ed Brown Scott Godleski Bruce Gottron Rick Janson Charlie Leighner Keith Soltese Dan Moore It has been a great pleasure and honor to serve as a Trustee for the past 6 years and the Chairman for the past 3 of those 6 years. As I have said in the past, I am truly a blessed man. Not only have I had the pleasure of serving in this way, I have had a great group of men to serve with. Through God’s guidance, we have managed to preserve our facility for another year. At our spring cleaning, we are always so very blessed with such wonderful volunteers of cleaning people, repair people, and (once again not to forget) Rita’s breakfast. (We will never forget Rita feeding us! Haha!) Here is a list of some of the many tasks that were taking place on that day: tables and chairs in Narthex were washed, torn seat covers and chair plastic caps were repaired or replaced, children’s area was cleaned, windows were washed inside, garbage cans were washed, gym back boards were cleaned, cameras were cleaned, ceiling tiles were cleaned and/or replaced, bathrooms were cleaned, hallways and side rooms were cleaned, and the pastors’ offices were cleaned by them. Other work that was done around that time was the hinging of the nursery doors, repairs to the septic system, drywall repairs, and some sand was added for the volleyball courts. A walk-through inspection of the church was done by all the trustees. Some more improvements that took place throughout the year were the building of a new pole building with concrete floor and pad, the relocation of the bell to the front of the church which includes a new brick stand, concrete sidewalk, and new landscaping. We purchased a brand-new replacement refrigerator for the kitchen and new safety lighting was installed for outside the kitchen door. We purchased a new heat pump for the building. The van was serviced. The lawnmower was serviced. We completed lighting for the outside EBC sign and miscellaneous light bulb and batteries in lights and exit signs were also replaced. Thanks again for the opportunity to serve in this way, and thanks to our EBC family for all the help we receive throughout the year. May God Bless you all. Sincerely,

Keith Soltese

The year 2017 was a difficult year for Eagleville Bible Church as we have spent the year searching for a youth and family pastor. Our youth pastor Josh Wood left at the end of last year, and our praise team leader, Adam Burrow, left at the beginning of this year. Mark Hostettler stepped in as an interim worship leader and came on staff as a worship pastor, working part-time. In September, Pastor Greg Gifford stepped down, leaving us with just two and a half pastors for a church of 600-700 people. Pastor Bill and Pastor Steve spent a lot of time on the search for pastors to fill our pastoral vacancies as well as filling the ministry vacancies left by Josh, Adam, and Greg. It is easy to understand that they were stretched thin, and some people and situations did not receive the attention they might have with a full staff. Small group numbers are down, but now Steve will have time to build into small groups and the small group leaders. Still with all the challenges of 2017, it appears we have turned the corner. Our pastoral vacancies have been filled and as we start 2018, we expect great things. Mark and his worship team are doing a great job and lately we have seen good turnouts for Sunday morning, even with bad weather.

Those who serve as deacons are ministry leaders, small group leaders, and men that are involved in various other ministries. Deacons are selected based on the criteria given in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. There are three deacons presently. The current deacons are Chet Paul, Ken Bentley, and Dave Bissell. All the current deacons are small group leaders or have been. Ken Bentley leads the Oasis prayer meeting on Wednesday evening. Dave Bissell facilitates the mission’s Team and is involved in Celebrate Recovery as is Ken Bentley. Chet Paul is involved in ministries to help marriages and is the driving force behind the Ride for thEM.

The EBC Board typically meets the first Monday of every month. The deacons and the trustees meet as separate boards at 6:30 and around 7:15, they meet as a joint board. During the deacon’s meeting, we normally discuss what is going on in the lives of some of the people who attend. There has been special emphasis on the question, “have you had any opportunities to build into someone’s life?” Over this past year, we saw many surgeries and sicknesses, deaths and births, marriage problems, victories and defeats. These are issues which we discuss and pray for.

During the joint board meeting, the overall operation of the church is discussed. We talk about the weekly ministries and what needs to be done to improve or help them. We make decisions about which ministries will be allowed, who will head them, and how they will be run. Different people on the board have different areas to oversee mostly connected to Sunday morning worship, such as, food, nursery, Junior Church, seating, parking, the information table, and greeting. The board sets the budget and works to keep the church within budget through the year. The chairmen of the trustees and deacons have additional responsibilities to not only lead their respective meetings, but also to help set staff salaries, and hand out gifts and notes of appreciation at years end.

It is not easy to distribute gifts of appreciation because so many people are involved and help to keep the church functioning. So I would like to thank everyone who helps out at EBC. The following is a partial list of servants of the church: the men and women who set up chairs, make coffee, lead children’s ministries, the worship team who held things together when Adam left and helped Mark transition from member of the team to its leader, those who lead and serve at CR, those that help with the Vine, the blood drives, the various GRACE Teams, and those who clean and help around the church building. I want to thank Becky, our secretary, and Chuck, our sextant for all they do. I especially want to thank our pastors, Bill and Steve, for faithfully leading us during this difficult time, and for the time they put in each week. I also want to thank their wives and families as both Jeri and Erin took on more duties.

I am very thankful for all the work done by those involved and I want to encourage everyone to get involved. It is not the pastors and the board’s job to do all the work of the church. The theme for the Walk Worthy Men’s Conference is “Walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called” (Ephesians 4:1). Jesus was a servant and we should serve too. We get to know each other when we spend time together, when we do work projects, attend men’s and women’s conferences, by setting up and tearing down chairs, and by being in small groups. Iron sharpens iron and that means we learn from one another and we challenge each other. One of the complaints that are often heard is that our church is too big and it is hard to get to know people. That is why small groups are so important. It is here where we can connect and get to know people intimately and learn from each other. Also there are opportunities to meet people if we serve together, and there are ample opportunities to serve - just ask a pastor, deacon, or trustee. Let us work together, study our Bibles together, and grow together to be more like Him.

“May the grace of Jesus Christ be with God’s people” (Revelation 22:21).

Respectfully submitted, Dave Bissell

I would like to begin by thanking everyone who believed in me, and offered me the opportunity to serve the Lord and the congregation at Eagleville Bible Church. Chasidy and I feel very blessed to be to have been granted this privilege! I am deeply grateful for my wife and children as they have patiently endured through a busy schedule and provided encouragement and support to me, thank you. I am also very grateful for Art Follett, thank you to Kelly and Hallie Hertrick, along with Kathi Manning, for their help with the Christmas Eve Choir and planning. Thank you to Don Young for his wonderful spirit and faithfulness to the Worship team, Jeri, Nichole, Kristie, Donald, Rich, Lindsay, Matt, Josh, Andy, Dale, Debby, Nancy, Pete, Kenny, Bruce, Jon, Marcus, and Erin (and the team of volunteers that helps with the lyric slides). To ALL of you, I want to say thank you and that I have thoroughly enjoyed the pleasure of working together with you this year and look forward to a strongly united worshipful year ahead!

I began leading the Worship Ministry on Jan. 31st, working in collaboration with Art Follett (I will forever be indebted to Art for the help and support that I receive from him). During the first few months, we were primarily focused on reestablishing the bond of the team members and developing a system that will work best for the dynamics of our team. The first real big “event” was the Easter services for me.

My first official start date as the “on staff” Worship Leader was May 29th (which was Memorial Day) 2017. I agreed to a three-day week (averaging 25hrs), and I would continue working a second job the rest of the week. When I started, I focused on familiarizing myself more with the software that we were using (Planning Center and Pro Presenter), and began leading the scheduling aspect of the ministry (at that time Art was directing that area).

I focused much of my attention building into the team, and taking disciplinary action where needed. I have introduced 25+ new songs, and added 3-4 regular team members. I try to send encouraging text messages often, engage in prayer, and be an example for those who I lead. I also started an online training course called, “Worship U”.

My weeks usually consist of: Sunday include rehearsals, services, and recently Christmas Eve rehearsals (along with volunteering time coming to youth group and helping wherever I can); Mondays are the day we have set apart for staff meetings, and I like to do my planning for Sunday sets, I also will usually spend time in prayer and training, and do a by-weekly ministry at Jefferson Healthcare: Tuesdays are spent prepping for rehearsals, finalizing set lists, working on collective elements for the services, practicing, holding rehearsals with the team for Sunday, and carrying out the CR music ministry. I am averaging 25 1⁄2 hours a week plus volunteer hours.

I have had Eighth Day Sound come out and set EQ’s for the sound team, started the process of updating the in-ear systems, held a Worship Night, started going to the Jefferson Healthcare to hold a service called “Into The Word”, and upgraded my instrument. Also, we have subscribed to a software called Shift Worship that will allow the tech team to access the latest backgrounds and misc. elements to enhance the experience of the lyric slides and announcements (among other things). I did a worship set for the FCA fundraiser held at EBC. I helped with VBS, attend Bill’s Wednesday evening Bible study, attend the Tuesday morning Bible Study, participated in various church Work Days, participated in a couple interviews, etc.

To sum up, I take very seriously the calling to lead the congregation in worship. I feel it is my primary responsibility to create space for God’s people to respond to His love, and encounter His presence. My goal for the future is to make every effort to sharpen our skills as a team, provide outlets for worship, continue efforts to improve sound, and look for opportunities to attend events with the members of the team in order to build better and stronger relationships with each other.

The past year was a time of transition due to staffing changes and needs of the church. Some new duties were willingly assumed, and my time was balanced as best I could to serve. As I’ve said every year I have been in this position, I continue to be very grateful to God, how He raises up so many great people in the body to continue the ministry of His church.

Again, so much happens here at EBC in a year’s time that it is impossible not to be grateful for all the great people involved. You quickly and humbly realize His church doesn’t continue by an individual’s strength, but through the Holy Spirit and those He has called to be a part of His church at EBC. I appreciate every one of the volunteers and leaders who make things happen in the various ministries I have oversight. It is great to see so many serve with a desire to help others and be involved!

As I review the previous year for this report, the undeniable truth of the many it takes to make the church function is abundantly clear. And there is always room for more as we continue many of these items and hope to continue to reach out into 2018. Here’s a brief recap of 2017:

In 2018, I am looking forward to continuing great things here at EBC. I am excited for Eric and Adam joining the team. Together, as His church, our mission doesn’t change. We are called to grow, we are called to serve, we are called to love, and we are called to teach. I’m reminded of the great commission in Matthew 28:19-20…

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold I am with you always to the end of the age.”

Three words really stick out here, “Go…Baptize…Teach.” Where is the Holy Spirit leading you in these areas? I look forward to the coming year and partnering with you again in this mission. God bless you all and your families!

In Christ’s love,

Steve

If we play word association with 2017 I think of “busy” and “thankful” right away. And not thankful that 2017 is over either! I’m grateful that so many great things happened, so many people served, and we saw lives changing! Yes, we were short staffed for much of the year so the pastors carried a larger load. However, a lot of people did! I realize that I could never be able to see so many positive accomplishments as a church without such a fantastic volunteer base. We have a lot of people serving and you’ve all done such a great job. A few areas did languish some as pastors spread themselves thinner, but lots of great ministry took place. We didn’t throttle back, we initiated ministries. We started an AWANA club in the Erie Intermediate Elementary School where I’m privileged to lead an awesome group of servants who help minister to children. I started a feature called the “Marriage Minute” for Facebook. Myself and Terry Klebes wrote an employee handbook to give direction to all staff members. I helped to renegotiate the church’s loan with Andover Bank and appreciated Steve Varckette’s help in getting that done and for a great rate over the next five years. I have been overseeing the Trunk or Treat event over the last three years, and last season we added outdoor games and connected with first responders. We estimate that that there were 800 people here, so I was super happy about that and for all the great help to run the event. I was also responsible for the Family Pastor Search and appreciate Chet Paul, Jay Shadle, and Karen Sly participating on the search team. We concluded our search in December and look forward to Adam and Samantha Page and their family joining our church family in February. As a church, we were also very happy to hire Eric Barfell as our Pastor of Students and Young Adults. It is good to have these searches done. Another blessing in 2017 was that God raised up Mark Hostetler as our worship leader. I get to work with him weekly and it’s truly a privilege. He’s a godly man. Who knew when our former worship pastor was leaving that God already had us covered! It’s amazing!! I remember how God also called Steve Arsulic out of the secular ranks nearly 5 years ago and made him a pastor. That’s twice now that God has led men who were part of our congregation to become outstanding pastors at EBC! I praise the Lord for that!! Last year, I averaged 58.3 hours per week. Sermons, prep for the Sunday morning radio show Christian Country Mornings on 98.3 The Bull, leading staff meetings, posting on Facebook, and recording the Marriage Minute, are constants. September through April, I lead a couple of Bible studies. I counseled 34 times and did visits 112 times. I also officiated at 7 funerals and at 6 weddings. Between myself and Pastor Steve, we figured that we do a wedding and funeral every month on average. We also had a couple of baptismal services last year and also did our Child Dedication Service on Father’s Day. There are other responsibilities throughout the year, but these are some of the highlights.

We have lots to look forward to. • We plan to involve more women on Sunday mornings. Our ladies are an

indispensable part of Eagleville and lead in many ministries such as The Vine, AWANA South, nursery, junior church, GRACE Teams, Operation Christmas Child, HALO, small groups as well as assist us in countless vital ways. So, we want to demonstrate that unity in service via ushering, Bible reading, praying, greeting, etc.

• Start a young adults group. • Build ministry to young families. We will be adding Bible studies on parenting,

marriage, and finance. We are also gathering a group of people to help steer that ministry. We want to be a super family friendly church.

• Publicize church more in social media. We have grown this area quite a bit in 2017 but want to continue pressing forward.

• Continue to strengthen the small groups ministry. Our mission is to help all to experience a great life in Christ (John 10:10b). Our three key focus areas are loving, serving, and growing. We want to instill this into our thinking from the youngest to the oldest, because this is what Christianity is all about. We have to love and serve and grow. May God continue His work in our midst to transform us into a powerful church of people led by His Spirit.

Serving Him Together,

Bill McMinn
