This festival of craft and design is City and County-wide so check the schedule for events in all areas to whet your craft appetite. For the month of August, Cork Printmakers will host a Pop-Up Exhibition in the Craft Village, Cork City. Cork Printmakers is the key fine art print workshop for artists in the south of Ireland and this exhibition will present work from emerging and established contemporary artists, and members of the workshop, who develop their artistic practice through the medium of print. A free drypoint demonstration will be given at 12pm on Sunday 26 August in the exhibition venue. Please ring to book for this demonstration.

Celebrating Cork Potters

An eclectic exhibition showing the wide variety of ceramics produced in Cork by the Society of Cork Potters using decorating techniques learnt at their workshop with Wendy Kershaw. Wendy is an award winning Scottish Ceramicist, who uses a large variety of printing techniques, such as mono prints, scraffiti and decal printing in her work. Exhibitors include Jim Turner (who has received the ICCA Outstanding Achievement Award), Sara Roberts, Alison Hogan Gough, Cillian Gibbons, Clare Greene, Martha Cashman, Patricia McCoy, Jane Forrester, Jim Kelleher, David Seeger, Elizabeth Burgess, Catherine Ryan and the newest members Kira O’Brien and Sinead Fagan. Carving’s in Limestone and Marble, and some Bronze works will take the form of a sculpture trail. Many of these works are Unique and will be available for purchase. Islands Crafts Celebrate 30 Years

A LITTLE ABOUT CORK CRAFT MONTHCork Craft Month is the brainchild of Cork Craft and Design (CCD), an umbrella group for professional craft makers across the creative spectrum in Cork County. The collective goal of Cork Craft and Design is to make Cork City and County a recognised hub for making, seeing, collecting, buying and learning about contemporary craft. Cork Craft and Design is run, on a voluntary basis on behalf of members, by a rotating Board of craftspeople. Membership is free and is open to all craftspeople who are currently registered with The Crafts Council of Ireland and who work in Cork.
