Purposes of Small Group Instruction• Reinforces previously taught skills

• Increases instructional time for specific skills• Increases interaction between the teacher and the

students• Provides students with an environment in which they

may feel more comfortable to ask questions or relay thoughts and ideas

• Promotes discussion• Provides students with additional corrective feedback• Provides organization and flexibility to support multiple,

that was not mastered by a small group of students.

This is helpful for students who:

• Did not understand a part or multiple parts of a lesson that was taught to the whole group/class

• Will benefit from seeing a specific skill presented in a completely different way• Were not able to accurately complete the independent practice within the lesson• Require additional instructional time
