TEAMWORK MAKES A DIFFERENCE. It comes in all forms,
big game-saving plays and consistent day-in and day-out
contributions. It’s a key attribute of championship
teams, and seen everyday in small victories. Teamwork
helps us provide critical funding and invest in programs
and initiatives that improve the lives of kids across Canada
including:
• Encouraging kids to get physically active through
youth baseball initiatives;
• Providing grants to charities serving children in need;
• Funding capital projects that create dedicated safe
youth spaces where kids can play, learn and grow; and
• Partnering to provide important educational opportunities
for at-risk youth.
WHY WE NEED YOU TO PITCH IN

Here is HOw we iNvesT THe fUNds YOU rAise:
JAYs CAre AbOUT…
Helping Kids in Need
• Jays Care Foundation served over 17,000 kids in 2011,
providing opportunities for children and youth in
need, supporting programs and projects that encourage
physical activity, educational pursuits and life-skill
development and building dedicated safe spaces for
youth programs.
Getting Kids Healthy and fit
• For the past 23 seasons, Jays Care Rookie League
program has been providing opportunities for physical
fitness, health & nutrition education, and life-skill devel-
opment through baseball skills, drills and tournament
games. Over 900 children and youth from 33 Toronto
Community Housing neighbourhoods across the GTA
participated. In 2011, Jays Care Foundation partnered
with Boys & Girls Club of Canada to expand Rookie
League to 10 cities and 7 provinces across Canada with
6 more cities in the plans for 2012. Rookie League has
the potential to serve over 40,000 children and youth
across the country.
Keeping Kids in school
• Through the Home Run Scholars partnership with
Pathways to Education, together we have realized a
43% reduction in absenteeism among Grade 9 students
in the Lawrence Heights Community this year, helping
further our common goal of dramatically reducing the
high school dropout rate in priority neighbourhoods
across the GTA.
Providing safe Places for Kids to Play, Learn and Grow
• Through Jays Care Field of Dreams program, Jays Care
is committed to funding the development of dedicated
youth spaces where kids have a fun, safe environment
to play. Jays Care Foundation currently has 19 projects
completed or underway in Ontario and across Canada.
In 2011, five legacy projects opened their doors.
o Founding Friend of Downtown Ooch, Jays Care
invested in Camp Oochigaes’ unique programming
space in downtown Toronto for kids with cancer to
escape from the hospital to play with their friends.
o The new Ronald McDonald House Toronto is the
largest in the world and showcases their own Jays
Care Community Clubhouse Recreation Room where
kids have a safe clean space to be physically active.
o Mooreleands sports field received the necessary
upgrades to allow over 700 children and youth to
use the field at their Wilderness Camp.
o Cabbagetown Youth Centre received funding for
the community centre to provide a gymnasium
floor and ceiling, new roof, new electrical wiring
and fixtures, plumbing fixtures and pipes, painting
and installation of insulation.
o East Scarborough Boys & Girls Club opened its
doors to the newly renovated space which will allow
them to serve an additional 100 children and youth
per day. The club features a Jays Care Community
Clubhouse for youth as well as a Blue Jays weight room.
• Jays Care Community Clubhouse at Rogers Centre
opened for its first complete season in 2011, where
more than 3,000 children and families from community
organizations and charitable groups watched their
Toronto Blue Jays from a luxury suite with food and
beverage included. For many of these guests, this is a
unique opportunity to watch a professional sporting
event live, from a specially designed space for kids!
