    Pope’s vax pleaINEQUALITIES in society

must not extend to access to any successful COVID-19 vaccine that is developed, Pope Francis has warned.

“It would be sad if this vaccine were to become the property of this nation or another, rather than universal,” he said.

“The pandemic is a crisis... you don’t come out of it the same ... we must come out better.”

Ponds has landed the group’s NSW Pharmacy of the Year (PotY) Award, putting the Hawkesbury store in the running for the network’s national title.

Co-owner and manager, Jenna Cormack (pictured), said she couldn’t believe it when she got wind that the pharmacy had won the award.

“I was grocery shopping when I got a surprise phone call that we had won,” she said.

Cormack noted that selection criteria took into account the store’s financial growth, KPIs, team culture, involvement in health and beauty promotions, Sisterhood Foundation charity support, and events.

“It’s quite a complex and thorough assessment of the store, so it’s such a lovely reward to see everyone’s hard work recognised,” she said.

“The whole team was so proud.“The store would not be what

it is today without our wonderful team, and our customers are truly like family.

“I am very fortunate to have a supportive and passionate team, as well as knowledgeable and experienced business partners.

    “Surrounding yourself with the

right people is so important.”Sharing news of her store’s win

with her alma mater, Charles Sturt University, Cormack praised the institution’s pharmacy program.

“I truly believe that Charles Sturt University has one of the most relevant and dynamic Bachelor of Pharmacy courses,” she said.

“For example, my cohort was the first to be trained to give vaccinations back in 2010.

“The course is always evolving to meet the current changes in our industry.”

The winner of the 2020 National Priceline Pharmacy Store of the year Award is set to be announced in Oct.

EVERYONE dreams of a loo with a view - but usually we prefer to sit on the throne and look out.

That’s not the case for an innovation in Tokyo, where authorities have installed a new see-through toilet block.

The public bathroom (pictured) looks like it could be an exhibitionist’s dream, but in fact the glass becomes opaque when the lock is closed to give some privacy.

The facility was designed by famous Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, who said “there are two things we worry about when entering a public restroom, especially those located at a park”.

“The first is cleanliness, and the second is whether anyone is inside. Transparent walls can address both of those worries.”

The glass-walled dunnies are part of the Tokyo Toilet project, which has enlisted the expertise of some of the country’s leading designers to create “public toilets like you’ve never seen”.

The impressive facilities are being supported by “professional toilet inspectors”, with the live hygiene status of each stall posted on a website “to encourage users to help maintain cleanliness for the next person”.
