Principal’s Message I can’t believe this is the last week of Term 3. Thank you so much to everyone who turned up for the P&C Working Bee on Sunday, 16 th September. It was an extremely productive day with many overdue jobs getting done such as installing the school sign, ‘coring’ the lawns, putting weed matting and straw around the roses, clearing and levelling gardens, removing tree stumps and rainwater tank and stand. It was wonderful to see so many students, parents, grandparents and staff working to further improve our school grounds. What an amazing school community we have here at Tharbogang PS. Working together gets so much more done. The schools grounds look fantastic. Your support and effort is very much appreciated. School Assembly Congratulations to all our award winners at last weeks whole school assembly. They were all so very well deserved. Healthy Eating All students had the opportunity to sample delicious, fresh bread and eggs cooked on the BBQ. Mrs Dal Nevo and her special Thursday maths group prepared the food and Mr Brown was the Master BBQ chef. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the treat cooked using eggs from our very own school chooks.

This will be held in the K-2 classroom for those enrolling in Kindergarten at Tharbogang Public School in 2019. If you know anyone who may be interested, please let them know and invite them to attend. An information pack, including enrolment forms and the Transition timetable, will be included. Everyone is most welcome. Flyer attached to this newsletter. STEMShare We have been lucky enough to successfully book a Filming Kit for use in term 4, through the Department of Education’s STEMShare community site. Both classes will have access to all resources in the kit and have the valuable opportunity to engage in film making activities during term 4. The school has also ordered additional updated Ipads to support this innovative initiative in our school and enable staff and students to continue developing their film making skills and knowledge into the future.

Primary Excursion- Beechworth Students in Years 3-6 will be attending an excursion to Beechworth from Monday 12th November- Thursday, 15th November (Term 4 Week 5). Payment must be finalised by Tuesday 25th September –Week 10. The P&C and the school are both subsidising each student $50 and the school is paying the cost of the coach. Please contact the school to arrange payment prior to this date or arrange an alternative plan. Fundraising will be ongoing this term to reduce the cost of activities. Thank you everyone for supporting our cake stalls and pizza lunches. There will not be any further cake stalls in term 4. An Information Package will be sent home next term for all those students attending the major excursion to Beechworth. Everyone is getting excited!

Cake Stall Thank you to those students and staff members who baked goods for our Wednesday cake stalls during the last two weeks. They were very popular indeed, selling out in no time at all. We raised $36.00 in week 9 and $35.00 last week. Students may purchase donated items for 50 cents each. This Wednesday, 26th September, Lili, Henry, Ava, Ketta, Zoya and Mark are rostered on for our FINAL cake stall fundraiser. All funds raised will be used for extra activities on the excursion. Thank you everyone for your amazing support throughout term 3. Eggs - $4 a dozen Our chickens are doing a wonderful job laying eggs. We have approximately 4 dozen eggs per week for sale. If you would like to purchase a dozen eggs please contact the office. All money raised from the sale of the eggs goes towards resources for our students. Summer Uniform – Term 4 Students are to return to school in Term 4 wearing their summer uniform. Please find attached a uniform order form. For all uniform shop enquiries please see Mr Nick Brown, not through the school office. He is available from 9-9:30am on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. NO HAT PLAY IN THE SHADE WILL BE ENFORCED IN TERM 4. Peer Support

In this week’s final session of the Peer Support module Taking Opportunities the children will reflect on what they have learned over the past seven weeks. The activities help children identify their personal qualities, strength and support network. They will be given the opportunity to practise ways of being resilient through role play and celebrate what they have learned.

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)

Last Friday we announced at the assembly our three school values as voted by the parents and families, Respect, Responsible and Reliance! I will be working closely with the students next term to come up with a mascot as part of our PBL. The students also reached 1000 points as of last Wednesday and were rewarded with some whole schools games on the oval on Thursday. The count has started again from zero!

I hope everyone has a safe and restful holiday break with family and friends and is ready to return for a busy term 4. School returns for everyone on Monday, 15th October.

Keep Smiling and Be Happy,

K-2 News

Week 10 is here already and I honestly cannot believe how quickly this term has gone! Term four is just around the corner now!

Last week we welcomed Francine into our classroom and have had smiles all round with a new student to take care of as she settles into our class and school environment.

We have been wrapping up our topics on volume and time (kindergarten) this past two weeks. Kindergarten have been learning the days of the week and have been discussing what time of the day we might complete certain activities. We all enjoyed the hands on learning when we measure volumes of water. We had some rich discussions about make predictions.

Stage 1 have been focusing on must dos and can dos in L3 this past two weeks with some great self-motivation and independence shining through. Kindergarten have been rotating in small groups to new common learning goals. Kindergarten L3 data will be recorded again this week and I can proudly say we have all made many achievements over the past five weeks!

We will be wrapping up our topic on personal hygiene and self-care this week with a super fun lesson on brushing teeth! Each child will receive a fancy toothbrush and some toothpaste to try out at home!

We will be having a movie day on Friday with zooper doopers for sale (thank you to the SRC fundraiser) $0.50 each with popcorn supplied by the school.

Just a reminder all swimming notes and excursion money must be returned by this Friday at the latest!! Please see me if you have any questions in regards to these notes.

Also one last thing, we have our transition to kindergarten for 2019 information evening on Tuesday at 5:30pm in the K-2 room, please let me know if you will be attending. Also feel free to invite families along if they have children who will be starting school next year.

I am proud to say we have made so many achievements as meet so many personal learning goals this term. I hope you all enjoy your school holidays and I look forward to everything that term 4 has to offer us.

Thank you,

Mrs Nixon.
