Thou shalt use proper formatting and design IIt's important to take into account the visual flow of everything

you're adding to the resume. Refrain from creating too muchtext for the page and making it hard to read. In addition, keep

the color scheme in mind if you choose to stray away from blackand white.

Thou shalt use font, size and colouring correctly IIIn order to make the resume professional, you not only need

to pick a great font, but you also have to make sure the font isthe right size and colour for each section. This means proper

bolding and sizing for body text and headers.

Thou shalt use font, size and colouring correctly IIIContinuing with the theme of formattingand visual flow, it's important that you

don't use long sentences. Condensewhat you're writing and minimize fillerwords. It becomes hard to read when

you have bullets extending the fulllength of the page, and especially hardwhen you make your points as big as

paragraphs.

Thou shalt not use slang vocabulary IVIt is essential to come across as someone who is educated. Useformal vocabulary and refrain from using slang. It may seem likea given to most, but as we have has screened various resumes...

this sense isn't as common as you might think.

Thou shalt demonstrate value V

Represent your value by not simply listing off a bunch of thingsthat you did while working. Rather, describe your tasks along

with the benefits they brought to the company. This allows youto demonstrate your employer-centric focus and the positive

effects your work has.

Thou shalt not include unnecessary content VICondense the most important work experience & information to

maximize content value. You can ruin your resume by addingredundant bullet points. Be selective and only describe tasks of

merit: difficulty, exclusivity or specialty.

Thou shalt not duplicate points VII

It's important to not re-use the same points. You want to showemployers that you've had varied work experience. If you don'thave experience with many differing tasks, simply describe thepoints in different scenarios of application. Same job; purposeand end-effect can be changed to give it enough differentiation.

Thou shalt include industry specific keywords VIII

Research your field. Brainstorm keywords. Compile relevant jobposts and input them into a word frequency counter to

automatically show you the posts' most used words. Take theapplicable words and/or phrases and use them a few times inyour resume. Alternatively, you can use a professional resume

service, which Jobbly offers.

Thou shalt correct spelling errors IXSelf explanatory. Make sure there are no spelling

mistakes and your grammar structure is up to par.

Thou shalt not extend past 2 pagesX

While you want your bullets to be short and sweet, you alsowant to have a resume that is condensed over-all. Do notextend it more than 2 pages. In fact, some people would

say not to use more than one page. Using a modern design, you can add more information without having anything

linear, long and boring.
