VENUE
Jeju island is Korea’s most popular tourist resort as well as its
most favored honeymoon destination. Known as “Little Hawaii”
for its volcanic landscape, picturesque subtropical scenery,
sandy beaches, waterfalls and hiking trails, it is one of the world’
s top 10 tourist attractions with over 4 million visitors a year.
The Shilla Hotel Jeju, a member of the world-recognized
group of the Leading Hotels of the World (LHW), on the
popular holiday island of Jeju, about an hour’s flight from
Seoul, is regarded as Korea’s leading luxury resort. It enjoys
one of the best locations on the southern coast of this
subtropical, volcanic island-sprawling over 21 acres of
dramatic cliff-top grounds, overlooking the sea.

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the 12th Pacific Polymer
Conference (PPC12), which will be held in Jeju Island, Korea from
November 13(Sunday) to 17(Thursday), 2011. The Polymer Society of
Korea organized successful PPC-5 in 1997 at Kyeongju, Korea with 820
participants and 587 papers presented. Thirteen years have passed
since PPC-5 and polymer science, polymer industry and Polymer
Society of Korea have shown remarkable growth. The Annual Spring
and Fall Meetings of the Society are now attended by more than 2,000
members each time with more than 1,000 papers presented. We now
have many active young polymer scientists who are doing top-notch
research on nano-technology, electronic materials, biomedical polymers,
etc. We are boasting the high impact factor of 2.369 (2009) for the
official Journal of the Society, “Macromolecular Research”.
The conference will cover all aspects of polymer science and
engineering including notable industrial developments. It will be a good
opportunity to discuss the recent progress in polymer science and
engineering and future perspectives on advanced polymers. We hope
the conference will provide the young polymer scientists to gather
together and form a network in the Pacific basin for the future
collaboration.
Furthermore, the conference will give you a special chance to enjoy Jeju
Island, Korea’s largest island and the premier tourist destination in
Korea. November is the best season for Jeju sightseeing. Scenic
beaches, waterfalls, cliffs and caves lie in harmony, and the mild
weather makes you enjoy beautiful Jeju Island more than ever.
We are looking forward to meeting you at Jeju.
