PEER TUTORS

The Peer Tutoring Program is a major component of the overall resources provided by the Technical Learning Center to Linn Tech students. Peer Tutors are usually second year students who have been recommended by the department chair and selected for their ability in their major area of study as well as their interest in helping their fellow students. This year, thirteen Peer Tutors have been employed and are available to assist our students with individual and group tutoring.

DEDICATION

The 1986 LOKI is dedicated to our president of the past 10 years, DeWayne Rakes, who is retiring. President Rakes has guided Linn Tech through many accomplishments. During his tenure two new departments were established at the school. The College has received accreditation from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and has become a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association. Additionally, Linn Tech won national recognition for its program to eliminate sex bias in technical education. And perhaps Mr. Rakes most far-sighted accomplishment has been the acquisition of land for the future development of a new campus expected to be started in 1986. Mr. Rakes will be missed and we wish him well.
