Call To Confession In the name of the Father, and of the + Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you and worthily magnify your holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Silence is kept for reflection, please kneel as you are able Most merciful God, We confess that we are in bondage to sin and cannot free ourselves. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen Almighty God, in his mercy, has given his Son to die for us and, for his sake forgives us all our sins. As a called and ordained minister of the Church of Christ, and by his authority, I therefore declare to you the entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the + Son, and of the Holy Spirit Amen. The peace of the Lord be with you always. And also with you.

7Surely, for your sake I have suf- | fered reproach, and shame has cov- | ered my face. 8I have become a stranger to | my own kindred, an alien to my | mother’s children. 9Zeal for your house has eat- | en me up; the scorn of those who scorn you has fall- | en upon me. 10I humbled my- | self with fasting, but that was turned to | my reproach.

[11I put on | sackcloth also, and became a by- | word among them. 12Those who sit at the gate mur- | mur against me, and the drunkards make | songs about me. 13But as for me, this is my prayer to you, at the time you have | set, O Lord: “In your great mercy, O God, answer me with your un- | failing help. 14Save me from the mire; do not | let me sink; let me be rescued from those who hate me and out of | the deep waters. 15Let not the torrent of waters wash over me, neither let the deep swal- | low me up; do not let the pit shut its | mouth upon me.] 16Answer me, O Lord, for your | love is kind; in your great compassion, | turn to me. 17Hide not your face | from your servant; be swift and answer me, for I am | in distress. 18Draw near to me | and redeem me; because of my enemies de- | liver me.

The Word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God

Reading: Matthew 10:24-39

[Jesus said to the twelve:] 24“A disciple is not above the teacher, nor a slave above the master; 25it is enough for the disciple to be like the teacher, and the slave like the master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of

his household! 26“So have no fear of them; for nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered, and nothing secret that will not become known. 27What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim from the housetops. 28Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in

hell. 29Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30And even the hairs of your head are all counted. 31So do not be afraid; you are of more value than many sparrows. 32“Everyone therefore who acknowledges me before others, I also will acknowledge before my Father in heaven; 33but whoever denies me before others, I also will deny before my

Father in heaven. 34“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35For I have come to set a man against his father,

and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; 36and one’s foes will be members of one’s own household. 37Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; 38and whoever does not take up the cross and

follow me is not worthy of me. 39Those who find their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it.”

Apostles' Creed

With the whole church, let us confess our faith. I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit,

and born of the virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Prayers We are called into unity with one another and the whole creation, let us pray for our shared world. Responding to each petition with the words “hear our prayer”

Lord, in your mercy…hear our prayer. With bold confidence in your love, almighty God, we place all for whom we pray into your eternal care, through Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord. Amen.

The Lord's Prayer

Gathered into one by the Holy Spirit, let us pray as Jesus taught us: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be

done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen

Thanksgiving For Holy Communion (In Time Of Fasting From The Meal)

We have been made one as the body of Christ through the waters of baptism. In our journey of faith & life, we

have been fed with Christ’s own body and blood. Even though we fast from the Lord’s Supper on this day, we

give thanks for the gift of Holy Communion, as we look forward to the joy of that day when we will again be

gathered and fed at your table.

Pastor: Gracious God, we give you thanks and praise for the gift of Holy Communion

and for the blessing it brings to your people. Even though we abstain from your

meal this day for reasons you understand, we sense the power of your forgiveness

and grace offered to us and the world through your Son. Awaiting that day when

we may fully share in his meal, we still remember, and cherish in our hearts, the

words uplifting this great and glorious gift which Jesus gave us:

People: In the night in which He was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave

thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: “Take and eat; this is my

body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of Me.” Again, after

supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying:

“This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for

the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of Me.”

We pause in silent prayer and reflection, giving thanks to God for all the times we have been fed with our

Lord’s body & blood throughout the journey of faith.

Thought On Our Stewardship During This Unique Time...

As we end our time together knowing Christ cannot be contained, you might wonder what you can do to serve the lord when you are confined or struggling in your own worlds. Please consider giving your regular tithes and offerings.. When you give your tithe and offerings, we are able to do the ministry that God is calling us into. Things, such as these online worship services, reaching out to our community, paying the electric bill, as well as helping our neighbors. On our website you should see our mailing address and ways to give online. We also encourage, for those who are healthy, to give the gift of life to others through blood donations. Many corporate blood drives have been canceled, but the need is still important. People are having surgeries, getting in accidents and needing lifesaving blood, plasma and platelets. Please make an appointment and give. There are many other ways to serve the Lord through checking on your neighbors , calling those who might be lonely and prayer. We worship a living God who is not able to be contained or confined and neither can our love and service.

The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace. Amen.
