    President’s Message June Gazee

    THE ABTO GAZETTE

Memorial Day is a weekend for us to give thanks for our soldiers and unsung heroes who gave

their lives for our freedoms. We all have family and friends to remember who we can no longer

invite to dinner or a birthday party. I have several uncles who never made it back to our family

dinners. They gave the ulmate price of “ALL” to preserve our great freedoms.

Last month we had a very good meeng at Ed Larsen’s house. He opened up and dedicated his

new live steam layout of which he plans to get into live steam himself. Ginny brought and operat-

ed her engine which is equipped with a radio control setup to aid in precise controls for an enjoya-

ble experience. Ed has put an extreme amount of work into his rerement project. His layout is

quickly becoming our largest layout with an extreme amount of linear footage. All of Ed’s work

has been documented on his Facebook site and has solely been built by himself.

We ran out of steel wheels so we reordered more. The price has gone up slightly to $85 per

case or $15 per card. Also, new T-shirts have been ordered and hopefully will arrive soon.

June’s membership meeng will be held in Apache Juncon at a closed school. It is a locaon

which we can hold an indoor meeng. Normally we would meet at Cardon Children’s Hospital, but

they have not reopened as of yet.

We are keeping our eyes and ears open for any module or train events that we can parcipate in. Most cies are sll praccing self preservaon in regards to COVID-19 and large gatherings.

The August membership meeng was voted to be bypassed in favor of our members going to

the “Beat the Heat” in Presco9, AZ. Open Houses around Presco9 area will be able to be seen on

the tour. A swap meet can be a9ended as well. This is a great way to see other layouts other than

    our own.

If everything keeps going to further aid to ensure our safety from COVID-19, we will have a BBQ

along with an Aucon in September. Details will follow at a later date. Most likely it will consist of

store bought sides and easily prepared hamburgers and hot dogs. Everyone’s health and safety is

    sll a priority.
