Imagine for once, what would the world be like,how different your life would be, when eating, speaking or smiling makes you uncomfortableor you get embarrassed. But thankfully, our world has orthodontics who give you the smilewhich you deserve. They have come up with the beautiful concept of braces that haveabundant health benefits.

Crooked, misplaced or crowded teeth have numerous health risks. It gets very difficult toclean them which can lead to tooth decay, which is not only painful but can affect the rest ofyour body too. An overbite, under bite or misalignment of your jaw can only be cured bybraces.

Metal brackets inorthodontics are themost commonly usedbraces. They aregenerally made up of adurable mixturesofstainless steel, nickel andvarious other metals insmall amounts. All thesebraces have overhangingedges around which ametal or elastic tie isused to hold the wire atplace.

The elastic ties come in various different colors. They are also available in bright colorswhich are generally seen on a young patient’s teeth. They hold on tightly to the teeth andexercise excellent control on them to correct crooked teeth. These braces generally costless as compared to other braces.

Ceramic Braces: A common alternative to metal braces

Ceramic braces are the mostcommon alternative to metalbrackets. Hwever, these ceramicbraces are not recommended insevere cases. Ceramic brackets inorthodontics were introduced in the1980s when the idea about lessvisible braces came up. Contrary tothe popular belief, they do not staineasily and are tough, thanks to thetechnological advances.

Earlier, plastic braces were used tosolve the need for clear braces. But,plastics tend to be porous and as aresult stain easily. So, ceramic bracesbegan to be used instead. Ceramicbraces are less painful, since they donot irritate the gums. They are verystrong and do not break or chipeasily.

An arch wire attaches the braces to your teeth. The arch wire is like ab engine which guidesand moves your teeth. An orthodontic arch wire comes in different sizes and shapes andhave different material compositions.
