In 1963 a man named Willie Morrow; a Barber from Alabama embarked on a journey that would change the world.

For African people of North America, the reunion of the Afro-pick comb of 1963 was the reunion to the land of our ancestors. Willie Morrow carved the first Afro-Pick Comb in 1963; 250,000 out of wood, for the hairstyle we’ve come to know as the AFRO. The AFRO; The Anthology, 50 Years of Retrospect will reignite the human spirit of the revolution that changed a generation.

The AFRO was the hallmark of the Afrocentric movement of the 60’s and 70’s. During the beginning stages of the AFRO, Willie Morrow was fascinated by curly hair, its nature, its behavior and why GOD gave the intrinsic knowledge of its purpose and function.

The Afro gave her people the awakening to Blackness and pride of the natural hair movement of today as we move into the natural hair movement of the future.

Willie Morrow taught the world to respect the hair of Black people in the truest form of the word. To comb an AFRO was to be an artist. In 1962 He wrote and documented timeless research that was never written before in any textbook before in history. Those writings went on to be translated in Vietnamese, Korean, Arabic and English
