The Telephone

In 1876 Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone.

This was the first device to transmit speech rather than codes (telegraph).

Businesses were the first to use phones.

The Lightbulb

Developed by Thomas Edison in 1879.

He also developed power plants to supply electric power.

Eventually resulted in light and electric power in homes
