    It is the 31st Millennium. The promise of the Age of the Emperor now faces its greatest challenge as Horus, favoured son of the Emperor, has declared himself lord of mankind in his fathers place. History records you as one of the commanders taking part in what has become known as "the Horus Heresy"; a campaign that chronicles the epic struggle for command of the Imperium... IMPORTANT!

    Outline of Play

    HowtheCampaignWorksUponarrivaleachplayerwillbeassigned toa team,calledaTaskForce,containinguptotenplayers.Youand the other players in your Task Force are alliedfieldcommandersfightingaspartofthearmiesloyaltotheEmperorofMankindortheWarmasterHorusas they battle it out to determine the fate of thegalaxy.

    Thecampaignwillbe fought in fiveroundsandtakeplaceonanumberofWarzones.Eachroundaseriesof battles will be fought using the 5th EditionWarhammer 40,000 game rules. Each playerwithinthecampaignwilltakepartineachround.

    Each factionhas anumberofobjectives to achieveoverthecourseoftheweekend.Theseobjectiveswillberevealedasthecampaignunfolds.

    ThereareanumberofTaskForces foreach factioneach with their own agendas, strengths andweaknesses.Whenyoupurchaseyourticketyouareassigned to a taskforce. Before the first game onSaturday youwill be asked to gather at one of thetask forcemusterpointsandnominateaTaskForceCommander.TheroleoftheTaskForceCommanderis of crucial importance to the team and it is theCommander'sresponsibilityattheendofeachgametocollateresultsandhandthosebacktoyourFactionMarshal,whowill be represented by amember ofthe event team. Do not elect an incompetentTaskforceCommanderyouwillregretit!

    InitiativeThe initiative inthefirstround isdeterminedbythenarrative for eachWarzone and is indicated underthe Warzone description. Initiative in eachsubsequentroundisdeterminedbytheresultsofthepreviousround.

    At the beginning of each round Task Forces willreceive a Mission Briefing. The TaskforceCommander (taking advice from the Taskforce)must then decide upon the battle stance of theturn and may even have the choice of whichmissionyouwillplaytoachievethem.Themissionselected must be the same for the whole TaskForce you cannot change it depending onwhoyouropponentis.

    Once they have made their joint decision theplayers in Task Force with the Initiative mustselect the tables on which the games will beplayed and sit at the table edge facing towardsthestagewall.PlayersontheopposingsidethencomeovertotheirassignedWarzoneandpairup.Deployment is determined as normal unlessspecifiedinthemission.BattleStanceYour campaign points determine the outcome ofthe campaign. Each round youmay sethow yourtaskforce intends to fight Aggressive,Defensiveor Balanced (which is the default setting of 3campaign points for a win and 1 for a draw).Aggressive stance awards 4 campaign points forwins but nothing for draws or losses, defensivelyrewardswins anddraws equallywith2 campaignpoints. As you must decide your Battle Stancebeforeyouplayyourgameseach roundyouhaveto rely on your judgement as to its outcome.Choose carefully as picking an aggressive stancemakes your draws worthless, while defensivestance squanders any bonus from winning. If indoubtchooseabalancedstance.

    As your games finish youmust report the result(Win, LoseorDraw) to the stage alongwith youropponent.Youcannotgiveyourresultsinwithoutyouropponentpresent.

    Fromthemomentofentry intotheeventthedecisionsof all Tempus Fugitive event staff (whowill be clearlyidentified at the commencement of the event) in allissues of fair play and health and safety are final. Nodiscussionwillbeentered intoonceadecision ismade.Players are asked to participate in the Age of theEmperor campaign weekends in a sporting and cooperative manner. Players that fail to do so will epenalisedinasimpleYellowandRedcardsystemissuedattheTempusFugitiveeventteamsdiscretion.AYellowCardoffencewhich isrepeatedwillresult inaRedCardbeing given which requires the player to be excludedfromtheevent.

    5thEditionRulesofEngagementTheWarhammer40,0005thEditionruleswillbeusedforthis campaign weekend, as will the latest FrequentlyAsked Questions (FAQ) documents from the GamesWorkshopwebsite. These erratahavebeen specificallyupdated for 5th Edition and are of real importance forplayerstakingpart.TheWarhammer 40,000 Cities ofDeath expansionwillnotbeusedinthiscampaign.

    CampaignRulesofEngagementExcept for the Heavy Assault force, each player willrequireanarmyselectedfromasinglearmylistseethesectionentitledPermittedArmies.Allmodelswithinyourarmiesshouldconformto"whatyouseeiswhatyouget"(WYSIWYG).Inotherwords,allequipment that canbe appropriately shown shouldbeclearlymodelledoneachminiature.Units (but not formations) from the ApocalypseExpansion, Apocalypse Reload and Imperial Armour:Apocalypsearepermittedinthiscampaign.HomemadeApocalypsedatafaxarenotpermitted.Ifavehicleisdescribedinmorethanonepublication(forexample the Griffon), the codex takes priority for itsrules, if it is not found in your codex, then use itsApocalypse datasheet rules, if it does not appear in aspecificApocalypsedatasheet(notincludingformations)then use Imperial Armour rules. Please contact theTempusFugitivesifindoubt.With a few notable exceptions, youmay not includeSpecialCharactersorspecialunits(suchasLegionoftheDamned)fromanyarmyCodex.Anynamedcharactersavailable to the armies participating in the HorusHeresywillbeindicatedontherelevantarmyselectionpage.Noalliesofanykindmaybetakeninanarmy(includingKroot Mercenaries, Grey Knights etc). Instead Armiesmay use the Faction Specific Units instead which arefoundinthisdocument.

    Any reference to your army or the entire armyalwaysreferstoyourspecificforcesandnotthoseofany player allied to you or playing with you in adoubles game. This avoids confusing issues such asmultipleLegiontacticsorothersuchbenefits.Any reference to friendly units ormodelsmay beapplied to both your units as well as those of anyalliedplayersyouarebattlingalongside inadoublesgame.

    A note on unique units and named characters

    Thewholepointofplayinginahistoricalsettingistoallowyoutoreenactsomeofthefantasticbattlesyouhavereadaboutinthebooksandnovels.Youmustincludeat least one named character in yourarmy. An Emperors Children armywithoutTarvitzorLucius(orFulgrim)justisntquiteasexciting!However,asthis isa wargame it is possible that you willeither play alongside other playerswiththesamecharactersormayevenpairupwith them for the doubles. Just assumethat either one of the duplicatecharacters is just a similar character orpickanotherpartner.

    PaintingandtheBestArmyAwardTheAgeoftheEmperorwasatimeofhopeandgloryforthe fledgling Imperium ofMankind. Wewould ask allplayers to choose painting schemes that reflect theWarhammer40,000universeduringthistimeanddoingthis will greatly increase everyone's enjoyment of thecampaign.AllmodelsMUSTbepainted and representativeof theappropriatetypeoftroop.Modelsmustbescratchbuiltor at least be based on or comprise of at least 50%Citadelminiaturecomponents.Youcannotuseamodelthatdoesnotmeetthesecriteria.Ifyouareplanningaconversionthatyouthinkmayneedclarificationpleasecontactusbeforetheevent.YoucannotrepresentunitswithmodelsthataresmallerthantheCitadelequivalent.

    For example, an Epic scale spacemarine on a 40,000slottabaseisnotacceptable.AttheAgeoftheEmperor:TheHorusHeresyCampaignWeekendwewillgiveanawardfortheBestArmy.Thisisawardedtotheplayerwhoparticipates intheweekendwith a force that, in the opinion of both players andjudges,isthebestintermsofpaintingandcharacter.ToqualifyastheBestArmyparticularattentionwillbepaidtowellthemedarmieswhichreflectthetimeoftheHorusHeresyashumanitypushesoutwards fromTerratoreclaimthegalaxyastheirbirthright.Becausewebelievethatduecreditshouldgotoplayersthathavepainted theirownarmies,onlyplayerswhohave painted their armies themselvesmay be eligible

    for the coveted award of Best Army. We ask allparticipantstobehonestifshortlisted.AnumberofarmieswillbeshortlistedontheSaturdaylunchbreak and thenwillbe votedonby theplayersduring the Sunday lunch break. The winner will beannouncedattheendoftheCampaignWeekend.

    AwardsCeremonyTheAgeoftheEmperorwasatimeofheroismandtheAwardsCeremonyisanopportunitytogiverecognitiontothosewhohavemadegreatsacrificeonthealtarofwar.Assoonaspossibleaftertheconclusionofthefinalgame we will begin the awards ceremony and westrongly recommend all players to stay for theceremony to cheer (or commiserate with) thoseawarded!

    Game 1 Vanguard Doubles Small forces sent ahead of themain army, VanguardForces are selected according to the followingrestrictions. Part of the fun of these small armies isdoingsomethingabituniquethatyoumightnothavethetimetodowithalargerarmy.

    IMPORTANT: YOUMUST INCLUDEAT LEASTONENAMEDCHARACTERINEACHARMYLIST

    Eachplayermusthavenomorethan1000points.

    VanguardForces fight theCaptureandControlmissionusing the Spearhead deployment from the 5th EditionWarhammer 40,000 rulebook. If sides are tied onObjectives then Kill Points are used to determine thevictor. All nonvehicle units count as scoring unlessstatedotherwise.

    VanguardForcesmusthaveoneEliteschoice.Youmayspend remaining points from anywhere in the Codexsubject to the Vanguard Force Organisation chartprovided.VanguardVeteransmaybetakenasElites.

    NoFormations,LegendaryUnitsorunitswithStructurepoints

    Artillery,Flyersorvehicleswithanarmourvalueof14may not be taken. Vehicles such as these are notdeployed for the type of missions undertaken by aVanguardForce.

    Warhammer40,000.PlayersmusthaveanarmylisttoplayasbothattackeranddefenderinPlanetstrike.Itisanticipatedthatyouwilluseeacharmyatleastonceinthecampaign.

    YourPlanetstrikearmymayNOTincludeunitswithStructurepoints,GargantuanCreaturesoranyApocalypseFormations.TheymayincludeLegendaryUnits. AnyFlyersusetherulesforaircraftfoundintheApocalypseexpansion.AllhitsagainstFlyersareglancingandFlyerscannevercountasobscured. VehiclesdetailedonlyinForgeWorld'sImperialArmourpublicationsmaybeused.Ifavehicleisdescribedinmorethanonepublicationthemostrecentversionmustbeused. Units(includingvehicles)carryingMissileLaunchers,Autocannon,orvehiclemountedDefensiveweaponsmaybeupgradedtoAAcapabilityfor+10perweapon.Thisdoesnot

    Games 3 & 5 - Heavy Assault Force Smashing aside all but themost solidly built defences, the Heavy Assault Forcerepresents conflict on an almost unimaginable scale. The army is subject to thefollowingrestrictions:

    Mustbenomore than2500pointsand isselected from theHeavyAssaultForceOrganisation Chart. Theymay include Legendary Units (which, unless specified,countasHQchoices).

    Upto1000pointsoftheHeavyAssaultForcemaybespentto includeasingleGargantuanCreaturesorasingleunitwithStructurePoints.TheunittakencountsasaHeavySupportChoiceunlessotherwisespecified.TheseunitsusetherulesfoundintheApocalypseexpansion.
