The Airport AuthorityThe Jackson Municipal Airport Authority: TheVision of JMAA and its employees is to provideexemplary transportation services and facilities atJackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airportand Hawkins Field, and thereby be a catalyst forcommunity and economic development. Theirmission is to operate Jackson-Medgar Wiley EversInternational Airport and Hawkins Field, and therebyconnect its patrons to the worldwide intermodaltransportation network.

Jackson–Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport

(JAN) is located in Jackson, Mississippi, six mileseast of Jackson, across the Pearl River. It servescommercial, private, and military aviation. It isnamed after Medgar Wiley Evers, the formerMississippi Field Secretary for the NAACP, and isadministered by the Jackson Municipal AirportAuthority (JMAA), which also oversees aviationactivity at Hawkins Field (HKS), a general aviationairport in northwest Jackson.

Aviation in Jackson began in 1928 with thepurchase of 151 acres of pastureland in the City ofJackson known then as Davis Field, now known asHawkins Field. The Jackson–Medgar Wiley EversInternational Airport was certificated for commercialoperations in 1963.

JMAA employs 106 people between JAN and HKSand has an operational budget for the prior FiscalYear of $17,363,135. JAN covers 3,381 acres andhas two runways: 16L/34R and 16R/34L, each8,500 x 150 ft. asphalt and HKS has two runways:11/29 which is 3000 ft. and 16/34 which is 5,385 ft.long.

HKS is supported by an air traffic control tower, afull service FBO and the Mississippi Army NationalGuard 185th theater aviation brigade has asignificant presence on the field. Annual operationsare approximately 35,000.

Commercial air service at JAN is enhanced byAtlantic Aviation, and the 172nd Air Lift Wing of theMississippi Air National Guard. Enplanements foryear ending 2018 were 489,454. Both facilities arelocated within a Free Trade Zone.

The PositionThe Director of Airport Facilities is responsible fordirecting, managing, supervising and coordinatingthe maintenance of the airport facilities withinMaintenance and Custodial Services, includingground/building maintenance, custodial services,and energy conservation; coordinate assignedactivities with other departments and outsideagencies and provide highly responsible andcomplex support for airport facilities at Jackson-Evers International Airport (JAN) or Hawkins FieldAirport (HKS) and other facilities operated byJackson Municipal Airport Authority. Supervises theManager of Maintenance and the Manager ofCustodial Services. Performs related duties asrequired.

The position works an assigned shift but may berequired to work different shifts to provide required24/7 operational coverage.

Position QualificationsThe successful candidate will have a bachelor’sdegree in from an accredited college or university inbusiness administration or constructionmanagement, plus seven (7) years of airport facilitymaintenance or maintenance of a large, moderncomplex facility; and seven (7) years of supervisoryexperience. Must reside within the city of Jackson,MS.

Salary & BenefitsThe salary range for this position is $103,000 –$154,000 with an excellent benefit package,including a fully paid Mississippi retirement programand $10,000 in relocation expenses.
