ARMY MEDICAL DEPARTMENT.-The Army Orders for.June state that a new edition of the Regulations for theArmy Medical Department, under the title of "Regulationsfor the Medical Services of Her Majesty’s Army," is inpreparation. Part II., "Manual for the Medical StaffCorps," having been approved, will be issued to all con-cerned. General Order 6 of 1886, and the " Manual for theMedical Staff Corps" issued therewith, and General Orders53 and 69 of 1886, are cancelled. Paragraphs 260 to 266,268, 293, 297 to 335, 337, 338, 343 to 346, 348 to 384, 427 to473, 499, 846 to 853, and Appendix No. 3 of the Regulationsfor the Army Medical Department, 1885, as well as Clauses$3 and 123, Army Circulars, 1886, and Clause 201, ArmyCirculars, 1887, are also cancelled.ARMY MEDICAL RESERVE OF OFFICERS. - Surgeon

ROYAL COLLEGE OF SURGEONS OFENGLAND.

AT an ordinary meeting of the Council held on Thursday,the 13th inst., the minutes of the Extraordinary Councilmeeting of May 16th were read and confirmed.The President reported that on the 24th ult. H.R.H. the

Prince of Wales unveiled the statue of Her Majesty at theExamination Hall.

Dr. V. Dormer Harris was elected Examiner in Physiologyfor the Membership Examination, and Mr. D’Arcy PowerExaminer in Physiology for the Fellowship Examination.The report of the Committee on the Nomination of Pro-

fessors and Lecturers was postponed until the QuarterlyCouncil in July.A letter of May 24th from Mr. Wilde was read stating,

with reference to the action Steele v. Savory, that theplaintiffs have been granted a fortnight’s further time inpresenting their claim.A letter of the 5th inst. from Mr. Wilde was also read,

stating that the new bye-laws have been signed by theSecretary of State, the Lord Chancellor, and the Lord ChiefJustice, and are now, therefore, in full force.

A letter of the 7th inst. from Dr. Edward Liveing, Registrar, was read, stating that the Royal College ofPhysicians have appointed a committee to consider andreport to the College on the recently issued report ofthe Royal Commission on a University for London, andinviting, on behalf of the committee, the opinion of thisCollege on the desirability of further joint action of theRoyal Colleges in this matter.The Council agreed to appoint a committee, but the

election of members to serve on it was deferred until theJuly meeting of the Council.By permission of the Council, Mr. Willett moved and Mr.

Macnamara seconded the following proposition-viz., "Thatit be referred to the Committee of Management to considerand report to the two Colleges whether any, and, if so,what, alterations should be made in Clause 12, Sec. 3, ofthe regulations relating to dresserships."
