I hope everyone was able to stay cool this summer. It’s been a hot one! Fall is just around the corner bringing back cooler temperatures, our beloved TV shows, football, fair food, and most importantly ASHRAE. This year I am honored to support the Anthracite Chapter in a way I never have before, as President. I’m thankful for this opportunity and would like to take a moment to acknowledge our 2016-2017 committee volunteers. Thank you for your commitment! In August, the Philadelphia Chapter hosted CRC (Chapters Regional Conference). Hats off to their volunteers for a job well done! Thank you to all who attended and represented our Chapter. We received awards in Research Promotion, Chapter Technology Transfer and a Special Citation in the President Award of Excellence categories. Congratulations to past President Richard Karns and his committee for getting Anthracite to the podium! Next year the Roanoke Chapter will be hosting CRC August 17-20 at The Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center. With a good attendance, we will receive the Sore Foot award. The Sore Foot award goes to the Chapter with the largest member representation present, multiplied by the miles traveled. Let’s make it happen! The benefits of being active in ASHRAE and becoming a member can be more rewarding than the eight dinner presentations you may not be able to attend. ASHRAE also provides educational resources and other services for just about everything HVAC. They will even customize psychrometric charts with your company logo. NEWS and Notes President’s Message, Continued

its predecessors have dedicated the last 122 years developing standards and guidelines for “shaping tomorrow’s built environment today”. We as Engineers, Manufacturing Representatives, Owners, Facility Managers, and Contractors are impacted in our daily duties by ASHRAE standards in some way, shape, or form. The easiest way for us to give back as a chapter is to congregate, donate, continue educating ourselves, and provide an avenue for future generations to succeed in our industry. Maybe you’re not a member, never donated to research promotion, sponsored an event, or just fell off the wagon due to life’s demands. I encourage you to explore ASHRAE’s website, www.ashrae.org, or our Chapter’s website, http://anthraciteashrae.weebly.com/, and attend a meeting this year. We will have membership applications and research promotion donation forms at the sign in table this year for your convenience. September’s meeting theme is Membership. Bring-a-buddy and enjoy the chapter sponsored adult beverages on the deck at The Woodlands. See you there!

Alyssa ASHRAE HVAC Design Training Scheduled in Baltimore ASHRAE is organizing the 3-day HVAC Design: Level I – Essentials and the 2-day HVAC Design: Level II – Application trainings in Baltimore, MD on Oct 3-5 and Oct 6-7, 2016 respectfully. Visit the HVAC Design Training webpage at www.ashrae.org/hvactraining for more details on the value of this training and to register. Annual Golf Outing Report Thanks to all who attended, sponsored, or otherwise supported the Annual Golf outing held on June 21st. As usual it was a success in terms of fun and fundraising for the chapter. Photos from the day can be found on the chapter website at http://anthraciteashrae.weebly.com/golf-outing-2016.html. For those of you that missed it, start planning now for next year. ASHRAE-PSPE Young Engineers Bowling Meet and Greet Scheduled A night of food and fun has been planned for Thursday, September 29th at Chacko’s Family Bowling Center in Wilkes-Barre. All current students and young professionals are encouraged to attend. For more information see the flyer on the last page of the NEWS. Tracey Jumper Named Regional CTTC Vice-Chair On July 1 our very own Tracey Jumper started her three-year term as the Region III Chapter Technology Transfer Committee vice-chair.
