I have a great personal attachment and affection for this mantra, because Yogi

Bhajan taught it to me in December of 1968, when m 19 ear old son was in

serious trouble! Yogiji told me, “There is nothing more powerful in the world than the

 prayer of a mother for her son, and if you will chant this mantra for one hour before

sunrise every day for 40 days, he will be all right.” as!ed, “"hat about all the other

things #m doing, my $ufi visuali%ation, my &opi mantra, and my 'edanta meditation(”

&e said, “)ine, do them, but try this also.”

$uffice to say, it wor!ed* "n the second da of chanting, the power was so obvious, I

reali#ed I didn$t want to do anthing else! %his was &it!' (nd it has been &it,' for

over )* ears! +ow, many people chant this mantra for seven minutes a day as part of

the &- morning sadhana, but it#s still “my” mantra.

t is said that chanting ong Ek Ong Kar's, also !nown as /orning all, ong hant,

and the Adi Shakti Mantra, opens all the cha!ras, charges the solar centers, connects the

soul to the 1niversal $oul, and liberates us from the cycle of !arma.

How it Works and What it Does:

This was almost the only mantra Yogi 2hajan taught during his first year in the 1nited

$tates 3plus Sat Nam, of course. t is e5tremely powerful and energi%ing when

done correctly. 3orrectly means with full concentration, accurate rhythm, and proper

 pronunciation6and +ec! oc! applied* These eight syllables are the “code” letters,

the direct personal phone number connecting you, the creature, with your reator. t has

 been said that a person can attain liberation by chanting this ashtang 3eight7part mantracorrectly for 40 days, for two and one7half hours before sunrise 3the ambrosial hours.

The ambrosial hours are the ideal and most effective time of day to chant this mantra.

 Ek  is vibrated briefly and powerfully at the +avel <oint 3not shouted. Ong  is chanted in

the bac! of the throat, vibrates the upper palate, and comes out through the nose. 9eep

the sound continuous as you move without a pause from Ong  to Kar#:ive eDual time

to Ong and Kar#

= nhale deeplyagain and chant Sat Nam until youEre almost out of breath, then reach

for the Siri, which is brief. Sat  is briefly and powerfully chanted at the +avel

<oint. Nam vibrates at the heart center. Siri is pronounced as if spelled $#reeF it is a short

syllable.

nhale a short half breath and chant Wahe uru# Wahe is bro!en into two syllables,"ha and &ay. "ha is somewhat aspirated. &ay is e5tremely short. t becomes part

of uru which is pronounced as :Eroo. Gemember this is an “ashtang ” mantra, in other

words, it has eight, count #em, eight !eys, eight syllables, so the “hayg#roo” should be

all run together, almost li!e one syllable.
