Riq’a Style Workbook

Riq’a style has evolved from Nasakh and Thuluth. It is noted for its simplicityand its short horizontal stems. The word Riq’a means “a small sheet,” whichcould be an indication of the media on which it was originally created.
Basmallah in Riq’a’ style
- Hold the Pen at a left-angle.- Follow the arrows.- Write each letter in stages.
- Practice Approach:1- The dots (1, 2, & 3)2- The 4 letters that theirshapes are common in mostletters.3- The Individual letters of thealphabet.4- Combination of 2 letters.5- Words.6- Phrases.

Diagonal Stroke Three Dots Two Dots One Dot
- The alif with a height of 3dots and a width of 2/3 of thewidth of the pen.
- The baa which combinesthe shapes of one dot, 2 dots& the 3 dots. It is 3 dots inwidth.
- The baa in a different shapewhich combines a smallstroke by the edge of the penand the shapes of 2 dots &the 3 dots.
- The nuun which combinesthe shape of 1 dot, shorter 2dots & the 3 dots.
