1) Draw the graph of the equation y = mx + c for m = 3 and c = -1 (a straight line in Cartesian plane ). Read from the graph the value of y when x = 2.

2) Force applied on a body is directly proportional to the acceleration produced in the body. Write an equation to express the situation and plot the graph of the equation taking the constant to be 5 units.

3) If x is the number of hours a labourer is on work and y is his wages in rupees, then y = 4x + 3. Draw the work wages graph of this equation. From the graph find the wages of a labourer who puts in 4 hours of work.

Taking distance covered as x km and total fare as Rs y, write the linear equation in variables and y to express the above statement. Draw the graph for the linear equation.

9) If the point (1,-3) lies on the graph of the equation 2y = a - 8, find the value of a. bigger of dimensions 25 cm x 20 cm x 5cm and the smaller of dimensions 15 cm x 12 cm x 5 cm. For all the overlaps, 5 % of the smaller of dimensions 15 cm x 12 cm x 5 cm. For all the overlaps, 5% of the total surface area is required extra. If the cost of the cardboard is Rs 4 for 1000 cm2, find the cost of cardboard required for supplying 250 boxes of each kind.

2) If (2,3) and (4,0) lie on the graph of equation ax + by = 1. Find the volume of a and b. Plot the graph of equation obtained. 3) The parking charges of a car on Mumbai Railway Station for first two hours is Rs. 50 and Rs. 10 for subsequent hours. Write down an

9) If the temperature of a liquid can be measured in Kelvin units as ˚K or in Fahrenheit units as y˚F. The relation between the two systems of measurement of temperature is given by the linear equation y = ( – 273) + 32 find the temperature of the liquid in Fahrenheit if the temperature of the body is 313˚K if the temperature is 158˚F, then find the temperature in Kelvin.

10) Draw the graph of the equation 2x + 3y – 6 = 0 using graph paper determine whether x = 3 and y = 0 is a solution. find the value of y, if x = -3 and

find the value of , if y = -2 from the graph and verify. 11) If the work done by a body on application of a constant force is directly proportional to the distance travelled by the body. Express this

in the form of an equation in two variables and draw the graph of the same by taking the constant force as 5 units. Also read from the graph the work done when the distance travelled by the body is (a) 2 units (b) 0 unit.

13) In countries like the USA and Canada, temperature is measured in Fahrenheit, whereas in countries like India, it is measured in Celsius. Here is a linear equation that converts Fahrenheit to Celsius :

If the temperature is 95˚F, what is the temperature in Celsius? If the temperature is 0˚C, what is the temperature in Fahrenheit and if the temperature in Celsius?

Is there a temperature which is numerically the same in both Fahrenheit and Celsius? If yes, find it. 14) The following two table gives the distribution of students of two sections according to the marks obtained by them :
