We’re back…..almost

It was so great to hear the news this week that the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is now in the “Start Phase” (Phase I) of reopening the state, and that places of worship are allowed, under strict conditions, to begin to reopen. We are so anxious to once again come together as a faith community to worship God and to share in the Sacraments of the Church.

Some have wondered why we didn’t just open up immediately. The simple fact is that we need time to review the many restrictions and policies that have been mandated and recommended by the state and develop a plan in order to implement them. Bishop da Cunha, after meeting with the Presbyteral Council of the diocese, determined that in order for parishes to do so as safely and correctly as possible, churches in the diocese will reopen this coming Saturday/Sunday, May 30/31, on the Solemnity of Pentecost, the “birthday” of the Church. What a wonderful feast to come together as we pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on our com-munities of faith and our world.

On our collaborative website, (falmouthcatholic.org), we have posted our “Collaborative Plan of Reopening” which we ask you to look over before returning to Mass next week. The plan has been devised after many hours of consultation and discussion of the diocesan and parish officials. Trust me when I say there is a good reason for everything that is being done, driven by our desire to celebrate with great reverence the faith we so love, while at the same time be very cautious of those who are most vulnerable in our communities.

While there is no substitute for “being there” at Mass, we will continue to live-stream the Masses celebrated at St. Anthony’s so that those who are still not comfortable gathering with groups of people or otherwise unable to attend Mass may continue to worship with us from home.

There is no doubt that we will continue to review and revise our plan going forward. I am ask-ing for your openness, patience, and willingness to “go with the flow” and to be grateful that we are back.

See you soon! Fr Steve and Fr. Ryan

MIRACULOUS CRUCIFIX OF

SAINT MARCELLUS, ROME

When This is Over Laura Kelly Fanucci

When this is over,

may we never again take for granted a handshake with a stranger,

full shelves at the store, conversations with neighbors, a crowded theatre,

Friday night out, a routine checkup, the school rush each morning, coffee with a friend,

the stadium roaring, each deep breath, a boring Tuesday, or life itself.

When this ends,

may we find that we have become more like the people we wanted to be,

we were called to be, we hoped to be, and may we stay that way,

better for each other because of the worst.

We appreciate your support of our parishes, espe-cially during this difficult time when collections have diminished. Thanks to those who have dropped off their envelopes and other donations. If you wish to place your donation in just one en-velope (as opposed to multiple weekly envelopes,) please feel free to do so. All three parishes can now participate in the WESHARE on-line donation program (see below) whether that be a ONE-TIME DONATION, or a temporary weekly or monthly donation, or even perhaps using ON-LINE GIVING as your permanent means of support. Contact Dan Cunha in our business office if you have questions. As you know, the weekly collec-tion is our primary means of support. From this, we must pay utilities, insurance and most im-portantly, our faithful employees. As always, we thank you for anything you can do. Take care of yourselves as well. —Fr Steve
