Competition: A Necessary Evil?

Why in the world should we hold / join competitions?

✓showing how much kids have improved

✓showing how much time ETs can condense

✓showing how much school cares about kids

✓showing how much parents’ money is worth

✓showing how much different our city/county from others

Can’t we replace them with something else? Like... a carnival?✓no pressure... in way way.

✓everyone wins... with various, creative awards (Most Efforts, Most Immovable, Most Believable, Best Duo, Best Scripts, Best Group, Best Costume, Best Choreography... )

✓“emulate”, not “compete”

✓great memory: glory and beauty
