The Banfe Family Missionaries to Burma

Dear Pastor:

About Us The Banfe family has been called to the country of Burma, for God’s glory. Dr. Banfe was a Dean of the School of Business and Professor at the Crown College of the Bible in Powell, Tennessee for four years, where he had a ministry to the local Chin/Burmese people, and where he was called to Burma. Dr. Banfe will be assisted by his helpmeet and dear Christian sister, Sherrie. They have two children, Peter and Aniko. Peter Jr. is a graduate of the Crown College and has accepted the call to preach. Their daughter Aniko is attending Virginia Baptist College and has accepted a position in children’s ministry in Texas.

Dr. Banfe finished his Masters in Ministry at the Crown College of the Bible. In addition he has a PhD from the George Washington University and an MSci from the London School of Economics. He has completed a small book The Deity of Christ: Resolved, which he has had translated into Burmese and distributed to Burmese Pastors here and in Burma and Thailand. Dr. Banfe speaks Spanish and Hungarian and is currently dedicating himself to learning Burmese. Dr. Banfe and his wife are sent out of Central Baptist Church, Ocala, Florida, Dr. Andy Bloom. And their mission board is Macedonian World Baptist Missions.

The Call Also known as Myanmar, Burma is the land of the great missionary Adoniram Judson. Burma is located in the center of Asia bordered by India and China. It is one of the poorest countries in Asia. It is located inside the 1040 Window and has 56 million people, 90% of whom are Theravada Buddhist, the most radical form of Buddhism. Burma is a country in which Christians are severely persecuted, one of the most violent places in the world for Christians to live. Over 1,000 unreached people die each day in Burma, condemned to a Christless hell. Burma is on the cusp of monumental change, as it begins to open its doors. This is a unique time of opportunity to bring the Gospel to Burma. There is a great harvest of souls in Burma and the Banfe family is profoundly burdened to see souls saved and to train and encourage our persecuted brothers and sisters there.

Deputation and Plans for Going in Long Term

The Banfes have been working in and out of the country since 2014 and have made many trips setting up the ministry, teaching pastors and youth, and evangelization. In 2016 they started full time deputation. And after around 2 years of deputation, they are at 91%. Both Dr. Banfe and his wife Sherrie are currently in language training in Burmese and Thai. Dr. Banfe already speaks Spanish and Hungarian, and has a working knowledge of the Burmese language. Our plan is to go in long term this October of 2018.

The Mission and Vision of Mission to Burma

The mission of Mission to Burma is to spread the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in Burma. Here is our vision. God has burdened us with three ministries that, Lord willing, will work together synergistically for the furtherance of the Gospel to facilitate:

1. Salvations of the lost 2. Edification and training of the Saints in Burma.

1. Planting local churches/Bible School: God has given us a vision to acquire

two sites, one in Myanmar and one in Thailand (on the border for Burmese refugees).

a. First, we plan to establish two local churches complexes, one in Mae Sot Thailand on the border with Burma and one in Thaton, Myanmar (Burma). Each site will have a Bible school for orphans/children

(James 1:27) and Bible institute (for Pastors, 2 Timothy 2:2) attached to the local church.

b. Secondly, the goal of the Bible schools and Bible institute is to train up the next generation of church planters/pastors, evangelists, missionaries and Christian schools teachers, equipped with the tools to establish new churches in their homeland and tribal villages. Planting churches does not start with building, but with training and raising up shepherds who gather sheep. We plan to establish Bible schools for children/orphans/street children, to teach them the Word, see souls saved and prepare them to plant churches and evangelize their own people. (James 1:27)

2. Publications ministry: We have a vibrant publications ministry to bring the Gospel to the lost and tools to teach sound doctrine to local churches in Burma.

a. We have delivered hundreds of Judson Burmese Bibles to pastors and believers.

b. We have printed and delivered 10,000s of Judson witnessing tracts to pastors and believers, and have plans for 100,000 more. We found Judson’s original witnessing tract for his first convert in Burma, updated it, and reprinted it. Our tract is now in three tribal languages and in four countries.

c. I have begun writing books on fundamental doctrine for translation into Burmese. One, The Deity of Christ: Resolved, is complete and 1,000s have been given to pastors and believers in Burma. A number of seminaries in Burma have requested 100’s of copies. It is also available at the Myanmar Bible Society. The Trinity: Resolved, is in process.

3. Radio Ministry: We currently have a radio station which we began which will go online this year 2018. There is a team in Yangon currently translating and recording sermons for the station. It will include:

a. Classic sermons, sermons book by book through the Bible

b. Children’s programming c. Doctrine classes d. Hymns sung by a Burmese Baptist youth choir e. English lessons f. And Burmese Judson New Testament audio Bible

We pray we can reach 10s of thousands of Burmese with the hope of the Gospel and help thousands of underground pastors with teaching and preaching.

Success! Trip April 2018

I just returned in April 2018 from a 22,000 mile trip to Thailand on the border with Burma. God blessed mightily. We were able to:

1. Purchase our first tract of land 2. Set up the office for the Thai Charitable foundation, “New Hope Children’s

Foundation” that we are creating for Burmese on the border with Burma and Thailand. It will give us the right to own land and get long-term visas for missionaries working with us.
