St. Aloysius Parish Mission Statement
St. Aloysius Parish is a Roman Catholic
community dedicated to celebrating the life and
word of Jesus Christ. All are welcome to deepen
their spiritual and personal lives through active
participation in weekly Liturgy, the celebration of
the Sacraments, Parish ministries and community
activities. Acknowledging our incompleteness and
our need for God’s grace, we commit ourselves,
through Baptism, to responding to God’s call to
become and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ in
our time. Jesus Christ is at the center of all of our
lives.

Dear Parishioners,
Do we ever compromise tonight, knowing we’ll
confess tomorrow? Like the fellow visiting Las Vegas who called the priest
to know when confession was available. The priest was
impressed. “Most people who come to Las Vegas don’t
think about going to confession before they get
here? The fellow responded, “I’m coming to Las Vegas
for the gambling, parties and wild women. If I have half
as much fun as I intend to, I’ll need a confession
before Sunday.” Is that the intent of the grace in the Sacrament? We are
baptized, which Jesus gave us example and instruction,
and are God’s children now. Is God’s goal to promote
disobedience? Hardly! In the Second Reading St. Paul
writes to Titus: “Beloved: The grace of God has
appeared, saving all and training us to reject godless
ways and worldly desires and to live temperately, justly
and devoutly … eager to do good …not because of any
righteous deeds we had done but because of His mercy
… through Jesus Christ … we might be justified by His grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life.” (Titus 2:11-14, 3:4-7) God’s grace has released us from selfishness. Why
return? In Jesus through Mary, Fr. Flannery

Through the centuries the Church has become ever more aware that Mary, “full of grace” through God, was redeemed from the moment of her conception. That is what the dogma of the Immaculate Conception confesses, as Pope Pius IX proclaimed in 1854:
The most Blessed Virgin Mary was from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, preserved immune from all stain of original sin.
The “splendor of an entirely unique holiness” by which Mary is “enriched from the first instant of her conception” comes wholly from Christ: she is “redeemed, in a more exalted fashion, by reason of the merits of her Son.” The Father blessed Mary more than any other created person “in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places” and chose her “in Christ before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless before him in love.”

CHRISTMAS “GIVING TREE”
On the first week-end in
The Advent our giving tree in
Giving church is decorated with
Heart many tags which have a gift
idea and the place or family
that will receive the gift.
After the masses on that week-
end our tree is almost bare and the beautifully
wrapped gifts are now under the tree. As a parish
we truly give from the heart in any way we can.
Our giving hearts translate to love when the gifts
are opened and shared with the recipients. What a
beautiful Christmas many people have to know the
gifts were given from the heart and on the day of
celebrating the Birth of Jesus. They are very
grateful for your generosity. Our thanks go to each
person who has donated a gift for these people, the
Social Concerns committee who have given time
and energy to this project by sorting the gifts and
preparing them for pickup, to all those who helped
bring the gifts to the rectory basement. This year
we were assisted by the youth group who helped
with the sorting of the gifts and delivering them to
a few families with young children. This is truly a
parish outreach!
