HALLOWEEN PARTYEveryone had a great time at the annual

Halloween Party. There were about 60 in attendance. The entertainment was "Twice As Nice". There were door prizes given out from: Ophelia's Pasta House, Capt. Eddie's Seafood Restaurant, Bayside Grill and Oxygen's Hair Salon (Toni Summers). Trophy's were given out for costumes to Terry Snyder, Norma Wilkins and Donna Lussier. I would like to thank my committee for all the help. Functions could not go on without everyone's help.

FROM THE MANAGERLeslee Jones

With the growing popularity of backyard fire pits here in Bay Lake please take caution when using them here in the community. Make sure that the ground underneath and surrounding the pit is either dirt or sand as to not allow any sparks or embers that may fall out of the basin ignite the grass or grass clippings under or beside it. You all know the saying “safety first”.

All of you are aware that the clubhouse now has coded locks that are in use nights, weekends and on company holidays. Please do not unlock the left side front clubhouse door using the top and bottom inner latches. The door lock does no good if you open (unlock) the door that the lock secures. There have been several instances of non-residents entering the clubhouse because someone had unlocked the door.

Our “Home of the Month” award for November went to 190 Carissa Street. They have received a $50 gift card! Make sure that you take a ride by this home. It’s that time again! For our December award we are going to choose the most decorated home for the holidays. Make sure that you have your home decorated by December 21st in order to qualify. Good luck to next month’s winner!

Until next month have a wonderful Holiday Season!

FROM THE PRESIDENTCarla Hannay

As we all can attest, our northern neighbors are returning practically everyday and who can blame them with winter hitting early in our northern States. That brings to mind a few reminders…..

been noted that some of our residents take their pets to the bone yard (heights) to relieve themselves, with that in mind please follow the ruling….clean up the DOO DOO.

I’ve had occasion to go into the bone yard and the odor is not good, plus anyone who have items stored there step into the debris, and those residents living next to or back up to those areas are not pleased. Who can blame them.

Thanksgiving Dinner was a huge success. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Lisa/Randy Godsoe and Jane Ann/Ron Miller for stepping up to the plate and taking on this responsibility, and to all of their Committee who volunteered their time in preparing the meal.

We have also been notified that Patti/Ron Schinharl and Louise/Roger Lacasse have volunteered to do the Christmas Dinner. Watch for announcements for date and time.

As announced prior to this newsletter, Co-Chairmen are still needed to take over the Rummage Sale duties after the upcoming one in February, 2015. Let me know if you are interested. Please remember if no one will take on this responsibility there will be no extra money for entertainment for the following season.

I have also selected three new Committee Members to review the by-laws and hopefully the updates will be presented to the Association Meeting in January, approved and we can finally put this issue to bed. Committee Members are: Carol Turk, Rosemary Parker, Steve Rollison and myself.

Additionally at the December meeting I will be presenting the final outcome of our negotiations with ELS on the 2015 rent increases that the Committee and I have finalized with the Regional Manager, Jason Rosenburg.

For those of you who have golf carts….

A Christmas Decorating Contest and Parade through the Park will occur on December 16th at 6:30 p.m. in conjunction with the Chorus doing a special program (Grace Gagliardi will keep you informed on what they are planning). Prizes will be awarded for the most original and funniest Christmas Theme. So get your creative juices flowing and join in the fun. Line up, etc will be announced at a later date.

I am requesting that all golf carts be parked in the designated area along the fence line at Gardenia and Lily Streets. If you have a passenger with special needs please drop them at the front doors and proceed to the above mentioned area. The circle drive in front of the main doors of the clubhouse are to be left open for the purposes of emergency vehicles, if required.

Reminder: Board Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 18th at 9 a.m. (1week prior to Christmas).

May you and yours have a Joyous Holiday Season.

MEMBERSHIPHOA membership drive is underway.

Captains will be in your neighborhoods selling them. They are being sold as one membership per coach, a double occupancy is $10.00 and a single occupancy is $5.00. Any questions please call Jane Ann Miller 941-483-3247

ALLERGIESJanice Van Dyke

I know there are others like myself that have allergies to food and other things. I would like to you to either email or sign a sheet at clubhouse if you have an allergy that everyone should be aware of. Some people in the park can not be in the clubhouse if certain foods are present, so it is important for all of us to know.

I am thinking of posting a list at the clubhouse of allergies that people have so when we are preparing items we can avoid them. I don’t want people not to be able to attend functions because of their allergies. I thank Randy & Lisa Godsoe for giving me this idea.

At a recent presentation I had a common question from the start, “How do I get my husband to get a hearing test?”

I wish I had a simple answer. The only answer I have really come up with is to drag him in. If you need to use a cave man club and drag him by the hair…well, he may not have hair so that won’t work. Seriously, I haven’t heard one answer that works for all couples.

I’ve had wives who complained and nagged enough that their husbands came in voluntarily. Well, the husband thought it was their idea but had the wife not nagged and complained the husband probably would not have come in to see us.

I’ve had wives who started being more social and leaving their husbands out of the social loop since they were tired of repeating what everyone said and every joke told during their social night out.

I don’t recommend either. Being married myself and watching my parents struggle with being happily married, since my mom, MaryEllen, had a severe hearing loss, I understand.

My goal is to reduce the frustrations that occur between a couple, when the frustration is a hearing loss. Helping to heal relationships has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career. I didn’t know when I entered this industry that this was part of the results when couples seek out solutions.

If you are the spouse getting frustrated repeating everything, or tired of translating everything, or feel like you’re their personal ears, get them to come in and see me. I will let you know if it really is selective hearing or a hearing loss that can be addressed with hearing aids.

Residents who come to Saturday AM coffee enjoy their coffee, tea and breakfast rolls.

Everyone likes the socializing, announcements for upcoming events, buying tickets for events and 50/50 tickets in season. BUT it takes our residents to make the coffee.

I always see the same names on the sign-up sheet.

We all like to visit and have Saturday AM coffee and visit our neighbors. New Residents, this is an opportunity to meet your new neighbors.

It is not hard to do and there are people who would love to show you how. I order the rolls so this is something you don't have to do.

Got an Old Cell Phone Just Collecting Dust?

So, you just upgraded to a new smart phone. It doesn’t make sense to just throw the old one away, but what else can you do with it?

Donate it. The FCC requires that deactivated cell phonse must still be able to make 911 calls. Consequently, many shelters for abused women pass along donated phones for their clients to use in emergency situations. Google “women’s shelters” and call a local organization for details.

Verizon even has a program to collect deactivated phones and, through partner organizations, get them into the hands of victims of domestic abuse. Details are at http://www.verizonwireless.com/aboutus/hopeline/.

Additionally, Goodwill (Goodwill.org) uses them as training tools for budding smartphone repair technicians; Cell Phones for Soldiers (CellPhonesForSoldiers.com) recycles phones, setting aside a portion of the proceeds to ensure US Soldiers have free and
