The MercifulThe Merciful

• Mercy is an action, taken by the strong towards the weak, the rich towards the poor, those who have towards those who have not

• Jesus again stressed this in the parable of the unforgiving servant – Matt. 18:23-35

• What better example can we ask for than the mercy of God? – Heb. 8:8-12

The Pure in HeartThe Pure in Heart

• No hidden motive, no selfish interest, true and open in all things – 1 Tim. 1:3-5

• God won’t accept anything impure – Psalm 24:3-6

• This must coincide with mercy

The PeacemakersThe Peacemakers

• Being peaceable with all men – Rom. 12:18-21

• This is an effort!

• Helping others to be at peace with God by proclaiming the gospel – Eph. 6:14-15

• “If possible” – we are not to compromise with sin!

Those Who are Persecuted Those Who are Persecuted for Righteousness’ Sakefor Righteousness’ Sake

• Not fleeing from it, but willingly submitting when it comes – Rom. 8:15-17

• Verse 11 expounds on this:– Reviled– Persecuted– Slandered falsely

• Paul said Christians will be afflicted – Acts 14:19-22

ConclusionConclusion

Every one of us needs to be taking close looks at our lives and asking, “Do these eight qualities describe me?” Have these attitudes, show them towards others, and enjoy the blessings from God!
