The Beautiful Game of Football

30 Participate in the FIFA Women’s Coaching

Course Almost 30 coaches participated in the FIFA Women’s

Coaching Course that was held at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru-Jinja.

The five day course was aimed at developing methods for

coaches who handle women football in Uganda. The course also centred on how to coach female players both

technically and tactically as well as understanding the

specific characters of female players.

The course follows FIFA’s donation of equipment to all

the 12 teams playing in the FUFA Women’s Elite League

that is on recess now after the completion of the first round.

According to FUFA 1st Vice President Justus Mugisha who

presided at the closing ceremony, he says that both FIFA

and FUFA are committed to see the women game grow in

the country.

‘The association is fully committed to develop the femi-nine side of the game and I can assure you the world’s

soccer governing body, FIFA clearly is impressed with the

progress in Uganda’

‘We shall organize some international fixtures but only

after setting up strong structures to help in selecting the

national team to compete at the highest level’

‘It is my wish to see you coaches exercising the skills you

have acquired as it is the only way the federation can

benefit from its laid strategies’

The five-day course was partitioned into theory and prac-tical sessions which used players from the St Steven Buyala Budondo and Nile Vocational Training Institute.

A five-day FUFA Club Administration and

Management course successfully ended

at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

Twenty four participants from Azam

Uganda Premier League and FUFA Big League clubs took part in the

course presented by six instruc-

tors.

FUFA President Eng. Moses Ma-

gogo (FIFA Instructor), Sam Mpii-

ma (CAF Instructor), Edgar Wat-

son (FUFA CEO), Decolas Kizza

(FUFA Finance Director), Ahmed

Hussein (Communications Manag-

er ) and FUFA Lawyer Alex Lugan-

da all instructed.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Federation head Eng. Moses Ma-

gogo said FUFA is trying to devel-

op its own channels through which pro-

fessionalism can be realized in our game

of football in Uganda.

‘As FUFA we decided to bring this course

at a free cost to all secretaries of Super

and Big league clubs but some have

come and some have deliberately re-

fused to come. None of you participants

were evaluated on their potential to be-

come participants in this course. Being

attached to a club was the only passport

we wanted ’said Magogo.

Hajji Kirunda Mubarak the Jinja Central

Division LC III chairperson who officially

closed the course, said administration and management in every aspect of life

are very important components to deter-

mine the progress of success or the lack

thereof.

‘Sports as an industry is supposed to be

run on efficient and effective administra-

tion but also with discipline. One cannot

expect success if the administration,

management and leadership are found

wanting’ said Kirunda.

The course covered topics such as FUFA

Structures, FUFA Development, Finance, Club Management, Planning, Competi-

tions, Marketing, Events Management

and Communication. FUFA has already

issued a circular to clubs directing them

to have qualified CEOs next season.

Addressing sports journal-

pala, Micho urged for ulti-

mate co-operation from all

the stake holders with the

goal of seeing Uganda qual-ify for the upcoming conti-

The phase of the plan un-

veiled started with the

CHAN 2016/AFCON 2017 Qualifying

draws.

The opening phase started April 8th 2014

(Draws of Afcon 2017 qualifiers) and will

‘I call upon all Ugandans to come and we

work as unit. Qualification and perform-

ing excellently is very realistic mission,

possible and attainable’ said Micho.

Micho hinted on the detailed programme

and strategies of tracking the home and

foreign based players.

The preparatory programmes such as

‘Cranes Na-Mutima’ shall still be main-

tained with lots of domestic and interna-
