WelcomeFollowing a long winter we are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to The Berry Theatre’s new Artistic Director Owen Calvert-Lyons. This summer you’ll find a range of events suitable for all ages at The Berry Theatre. Our theatre programme is home to the acclaimed Reduced Shakespeare Company, plus a passionate two-handed version of Robert Tressell’s classic The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists by Townsend Productions. You’ll also find Laura Mugridge with her watery tale of a man who lives in a lighthouse – a beautiful and intricate show with live music, nautical jumpers and more...Our programme for families offers children the chance to get on stage and help create a magical world of animals and monsters in our Claytime play with clay event, or to catch some beautiful puppetry, music, storytelling and transforming sets with Theatre of Widdershins’ Rumpelsiltskin and the Wheel of Fortune.

A new powerful two-handed version of the classic book by Robert Tressell.

Townsend Productions have produced a gem of edwardian humorous theatre with songs and music of the time.

This hugely successful production tells the story of a group of painter-decorators who are joined by artist owen, whose spirited attacks on the dishonesty of Capitalism,

along with his socialist vision, highlight exploitation in the workplace and inequality in society. Relevant still, this tale is told with vigour and passion.

Limelight Local This project offers 18 – 30 year olds with learning disabilities and those who have been unemployed for six months or more, the opportunity to learn new skills, work together as a group and create exciting new theatre.

Writers’ HubA place for all writers in Hampshire

Led by local playwright Sean Tyler this monthly writers’

network is open to all writers living or working in and

around Hampshire and offers the chance to chat with

other writers, listen to visiting speakers and meet

special guests.

The programme of speakers and guest artists is

decided and curated by the Hub. members also have

the opportunity to get involved in new writing events.

This summer The Writer’s Hub will present Hubbub, a

showcase of new work on Saturday 6th July, at Hedge

end Library.

Hedge end based Wellstead Community Choir and the Solent Fellowship Band of the Salvation Army present a programme of light, listenable music. From elgar to the Beatles, from Rossini to Adele there will be something for everybody to enjoy.

International Eventover the past year students in dresden, madrid and Hedge end have been working in virtual classrooms to write and rehearse ‘ Listen to me’ a musical based on the UNICeF article 12 Freedom of speech. Introducing our sister venue

The Berry Theatre’s sister venue The Point, Eastleigh welcomes over 85,000 visitors a year to a vibrant programme of dance, contemporary performance, music, comedy and children’s theatre.

Home to a variety of dance classes for all ages and the borough’s largest

our theatre is located on Wildern Lane, Hedge End, Hampshire and easily reached by public transport.

By BusWe can be reached by numerous bus services which stop directly outside The Berry Theatre.

Bluestar 3 offers an hourly service between Southampton and Hedge end via Bitterne, 7 days a week. Call: 0871 200 2233.

The Velvet A offers an hourly service from Boorley Green, Botley, Hedge end, West end and eastleigh, 7 days a week. Call: 023 8061 2288.

The Brijan 8 service offers an hourly service from Bishops Waltham, Swanmore, Botley, Hedge end, Fair oak, Colden Common and eastleigh, mon - Sat. Call: 01489 788138.

The First 26 service links Fareham, Botley, Hedge end Hamble and Netley, mon- Sat service. For travel advice call 023 80224 854.

By TrainHedge end train station is 1.5 miles from the theatre. The station is served by lots of local taxi companies which can be booked in advance. Trains run directly from eastleigh and Winchester to the North West and Botley and Fareham to the east.

By BikeWildern School next to the theatre has space for 146 bicycles to be stored under cover in an open, visible area where they can easily be locked for safe keeping.

By CarFrom the m27, take junction 7 towards Hedge end village. At the traffic lights in the village, turn left down Wildern Lane. The Berry Theatre is 200m down the road on your right.

Parking is available at the following location:Budgens, Upper Northam Road, Hedge end, So30 4dyThanks to our friends at Budgens there are 92 FRee parking spaces just five minutes walk from the theatre. To use eastleigh Borough Council’s popular “Park and Stride” facility, park at the store and follow the signs along the short walk to the theatre.

Wildern School, Wildern Lane, Hedge end So30 4eJNo parking on site for daytime performances.

There is limited parking available on the Wildern School site for evening performances. Please park courteously.

Hiring The Berry TheatreThe Berry Theatre is available for community and commercial hires. our theatre boasts a state-of-the-art technical specification including digital camera projection, digital audio and lighting and a tension grid, offering easy access to rigging facilities. Total seating capacity is 306 with flexible and accessible seating.
