Royal Emerald is a company developed by a group of Brazilian
lawyers specializing in gemstones, and foreign trade.
The site was created with the intention of providing customers
with security in operation, certification of origin and tax of the
material purchased.

WHERE DO OUR EMERALDS COME FROM?
Serra da Carnaíba – Brazil
HISTORIC
Discovered in 1963, in the 80's, it was one of the main European
regions responsible for the production of emeralds. A garimpo
area covers 4 thousand hectares. This area is composed of
several stretches that produced this gem, the most important
being the garimpo of Carnaíba de Cima in the 1970s and 1980s
(Moreira & Santana 1982). Other areas that stand out are the
mines of: Carnaíba de Baixo, Gavião, Bode, Lagarta, Bráulia
and Marota.

GEOLOGY
Geology is shown in the series of geological routes with
adaptations: Lower Arche-Proterozoic Basement of the São
Francisco Craton, in the Northeast of Bahia Silva & Misi (1998).
In this publication, it is shown that the Carnaiba Forest is situated
in a granitic body that Rudowski et al. (1987) described as a
small circular intrusion (Fig. 1 - Silva & Misi (6 km diameter,
located in an antiform structure of the Jacobina mountain
range), the intrusive character of the body, according to the
aforementioned authors) , is marked by the presence of
numerous enclaves of quartzite rocks of the Jacobina mountain
range and ultramafic chromitometric rocks of the context of
the enhasamento, being shown below the simplified geological
map of the region where the Garnao de Carnaíba is located
(Rudowski et al., 1987 modified Couto and others 1978):

Carnaiba granite is described by Rudowski et al. (1992) as a
two-mer granite, porphyroid associated with pegmatitic veins
occasionally accompanied by tourmaline. The pegmatitic
bodies come into contact with the serpentinized ultramafic,
developing an area rich in phlogopite, which grow in
increasingly poor areas of phlogopite enriched in talc and
serpentine. The mineralizations of beryl (emerald) occur near
the pegmatitic veins and within the phlogopitites. These authors
also describe the presence of molybdenite, scheelite,
tourmaline and some sulfides (chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite and
pyrite).

Griffon et al. (1967) and Rudowski et al. (1999) argue that the
genesis of mineralization would be related to the assimilation of
ultramafic Cr by the crystals of beryl and that the Be and Mo

would have been brought by the hydrothermal fluids due to the
granitic magmatism.

the Archeno-Proterozoic basement of São Francisco Craton, in
the northeast of Bahia de Silva & Misi (1998), because it contains

LOCATION
The mining company of Carnaiba is located near the
Municipalities of Pindobaçu and Saúde. To reach this mining
company, go to the border that connects the municipality of
Antônio Gonçalves and Campo Formoso. From this border,
take the BA-374 to the municipality of Pindobaçu, then
continue for another 9 km towards the municipality of Saúde
