FIRST AMENDMENT
• Guarantees freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition.
SECOND AMENDMENT
• Gives the right to bear arms.
THIRD AMENDMENT
• No quartering of soldiers in private homes.
FOURTH AMENDMENT
• Bans illegal search and seizure.
FIFTH AMENDMENT
• Ensures legal protections and prohibits double jeopardy and forced testimony against oneself.
SIXTH AMENDMENT
• Gives rights to a lawyer, speedy trial, and a jury in criminal cases.
SEVENTH AMENDMENT
• Gives rights to a jury trial in civil cases (lawsuits)
EIGHTH AMENDMENT
• Outlaws cruel and unusual punishments and excessive fines (bail)
NINTH AMENDMENT
• Protects rights not listed in other amendments.
TENTH AMENDMENT
• Grants powers not in the Constitution to the states.
