The Statue

• Made around 480BC• Discovered on acropolis in 1887AD• At the end of the archaic period,

explains quality of features.• Only 25 cm high, correct height• Now found in acropolis museum

The statue

• Traces of yellow paint stillon hair• Archaic smile not very present, more

sadness.• On page 80, headwear can still be

seen• Would have been destroyed when

Persians sacked Athens.

features

• Plain hair, just waves withcurls at the end• Well proportioned eyes.• Rather squashed ears, but correct

detail• Head would originally have been

tilted on the statue.• Very flat nose from side
