• A faithful, upright and blameless man• God may not be just• Curses the day he was born• Loses everything• Challenges God• Whydoinnocentpeoplesufferwhenwickedpeopleprosper?• Lives over 140 years!

Job’s Wife• Loses everything• Curse God and die!

• God is just and Job must have done evil• Job is dishonest about his actions• God would never be unjust• Job’s constant questioning of God’s ways is rebellious and disrespectful

• Allows Job to be tested by Satan• Boasts that Job is a faithful, upright and blameless man• Restores Job’s fortune, good health and children• Tells Job that his view of the world is limited, and he cannot possibly understand how complicated di-vine justice is• OffersJobachancetoruntheworldforaday• Appeared as a whirlwind

• Agrees that Job is a faithful, upright and blameless man• It is easy for Job to be upright and blameless if he has all of God’s blessings• If Job experiences hardship, he’ll turn away from God
