The Caminito del Rey is a unique natural environment, which runs between two gorges, canyons and a large valley. It is a straight route, starting with the town of Ardales and ending at Álora. This route is almost 8 kms., Taking an average of 3 to 4 hours to complete it.

Because the path is surrounded by swamps, mountains, gorges and valleys, it is difficult to access it. There is no possibility of reaching the beginning of the path by conventional means of transport, you have to access it by foot and walk for a little while. Therefore, it is very important to plan in enough time, since you need to get to the area, then reach the control booth, finish the trek and finally return to the place where the vehicle was parked or the railway station of El Chorro - Caminito del Rey (Álora). You could do it by foot, but it is much easier to use the shuttle bus service between the North (Ardales) and the South (El Chorro, Álora), or vice versa, which covers each journey for 0.94€ or 1.55€.

Good Morning Cars recommends parking in authorized parking lots, as you will have to return to your vehicle once you finish the trek using the shuttle bus and not forgetting factors such as the weather, light depending on the time of year, traffic on narrow county roads, etc.

How to get there?

Departing from Málaga capital take the A-357 towards MA-5403, passing through Cártama, Pizarra, Carratraca, and Ardales. This route is 59.1 km., and it takes more than 50 minutes by car. In Pizarra you can also take the road to Álora and from there go to El Chorro Station on the A-343. This route is somewhat longer, about 60 kms, and takes more than an hour. This road is narrower and tacked.
