“THE CARE BEARS BIG WISH MOVIE”

EXT. THE COSMOS - NIGHT

UNDER CREDITS -- we are treated to a tour of the cosmos. Pastel-hued planets, swirling galaxies.

The CAMERA swoops and soars through this perfect view of the heavens and eventually ends up featuring a giant star, with a bunch of little stars swirling around it.

This giant star is called BIG WISH, and the little stars (all looking very much like our own TWINKERS) spin and spiral happily around Big Wish.

Suddenly, a comet blasts its way past Big Wish, scattering the smaller stars. All of the smaller stars get away to safety. All, save for one. Twinkers.

Swept up in the sparkling wake of the comet, Twinkers gets pulled away from Big Wish and starts to fall down and away; becoming a shooting star himself.

Twinkers looks worried as he plummets with greater and greater velocity towards the clouds of earth, on which he closes in very rapidly.

EXT. CARE-A-LOT - NIGHT

And now we’re in the beautiful, brightly-colored, rainbow and cloud kingdom of Care-A-Lot. Pretty, little houses dot the cloudy landscapes, with pastel forests and waterfalls in the distance. Lights twinkle from the houses.

And there, up in the sky, can be seen a bright streak. It’s Twinkers, careening towards Care-A-Lot.

EXT. FOREST - NIGHT

WHOOOSH!! Twinkers rockets down from the sky, and with an explosion of sparks and puffy cloud pieces, Twinkers crashes and disappears into a cloudy bush along a trail in the forest.

All is quiet for a few moments...and then we HEAR Twinkers whimpering like a lost puppy.

TWINKERS

<WHIMPERING>

This SHOT SLOWLY DISSOLVES from night to...

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. FOREST - MORNING

Birds <CHIRP> as we PAN DOWN to see a small bear, happily skipping along. This is WISH CUB.

She looks just like a Care Bear, only smaller and, if it’s even possible, cuter! She carries a little picnic basket, and as she skips, she sings a little song.

WISH CUB

(singing)

If wishes were fishes, and soup bowls were dishes, I’d make something delicious, for yooooou... <HUMMING>

As Wish Cub skips past the bush, she HEARS Twinkers hiding inside. He WHIMPERS like a lost puppy.

TWINKERS

<WHIMPERING>

Wish Cub stops. Looks suspiciously at the bush.

WISH CUB

Hello?

No response. She thinks for a moment, then stumbles on a very big word.

WISH CUB (CONT’D)

<GIGGLE> Must have been my inagim... um, my imagic... mm, my mini-agination.

Wish Cub turns and is about to skip away when she HEARS some RUSTLING from the bush and some more WHIMPERING.

TWINKERS

<WHIMPERING>

WISH CUB

That’s no mini-agination; that’s a something!

Wish Cub puts down her basket and addresses the whimpering bush.


WISH CUB (CONT’D)

Attention bush-dwelling something: My name is Wish Cub! What’s yours?

No response.

WISH CUB (CONT’D)

Don’t be afraid. I’m a Care Bear, not a “Scare Bear.” <GIGGLES>

And now, from within the bush, Twinkers emerges.

Wish Cub sees him for the first time and smiles.

WISH CUB

(excited)

Hi, little guy!

TWINKERS

<SQUEAL!!!>

Twinkers vanishes back into the bush.

WISH CUB

Whoa! Come back!

The bush starts shaking as if Twinkers is quivering in fright. Wish Cub thinks for a moment and gets an idea.

WISH CUB (CONT’D)

Hmmm...

As she walks O/S to her picnic basket, Twinkers peers out from the bush to she where Wish Cub is going.

TWINKERS

Hmm?

Twinkers quickly ducks back into the bush when he she’s Wish Cub coming back with the picnic basket.

She takes out a sandwich and speaks to no one in particular.

WISH CUB

Well, I guess I might as well just sit down here and have my lunch.

Twinkers sneaks out of the bush once again, to get a better look at Wish Cub’s lunch.

Wish Cub takes a bite of her sandwich. She really overdoes selling how good it is.


WISH CUB (CONT’D)

(mouth full)

Oh...Mmmm... Mmmm, Mmm, Mmm. Wow! Mm! THIS is tasty. Yup, this sure is good!...

Twinkers looks at Wish Cub... More specifically, at Wish Cub’s sandwich, and licks his lips.

TWINKERS

<LICKS HIS LIPS>

WISH CUB

Are you allergic to peanut butter?

Twinkers shakes his head ‘no’.

TWINKERS

Mm, mmm.

WISH CUB

Would you like to share my sandwich with me?

Wish Cub holds out the sandwich, but the sudden movement frightens Twinkers and he zips back behind the bush.

TWINKERS

AHHH! <WHIMPERING>

Wish Cub frowns and gets another idea.

WISH CUB

Hmm...

She rips off a small piece of the sandwich and puts it on the ground by the bush.

WISH CUB (CONT’D)

<HUMMING HAPPILY>

Then she takes another piece and puts it a little further away from the bush and closer to her. And then another and another. There is now a trail of sandwich pieces leading from the bush to her.

Twinkers emerges from the bush once again and approaches the first bit of sandwich. He looks over at Wish Cub who nods approvingly. (Wish Cub continues humming so as not to distract from her plan working!)

WISH CUB

<HUMMING HAPPILY>


Twinkers gobbles up the first bit of bread...

TWINKERS

<MUNCHING!> Mmmm! <GULP!>

As Wish Cub continues to <HUM>, he gobbles up the next piece, and the next piece and the next piece until Twinkers has eaten all of the sandwich bits...

TWINKERS

<SLURP!> <SLURP!> <SLURP!> <SLURP!> <SLURP!> <SLURP!> <SLURP!> Mmm! <GULP!>

... And is now next to Wish Cub.

WISH CUB

Want some more?

Wish Cub offers another bite of her sandwich...

TWINKERS

Mm hm!

... but Twinkers gobbles the whole thing up in one motion!

TWINKERS

<SLURP!> <GULP!>

WISH CUB

(impressed)WOW!

Having gotten over his fear, Twinkers jumps into her lap, like a puppy.

TWINKERS

(at ease)

<SIGHS>

He then jumps up into Wish Cub’s arms and gives her a big hug. Wish Cub is touched:

WISH CUB

<SIGH> Would you like to be my friend?

Twinkers nods happily.

TWINKERS

Mmmmmm!


WISH CUB

You would! <GIGGLE!> Wow! I'm gonna call you...

(thinking...)

Twinkers!

Twinkers circles around Wish Cub and flits up in the air and gives a little spin. He’s that happy.

TWINKERS / WISH CUB<GIGGLE>

WISH CUB

<SIGH> You know what I wish? I wish we could be together forever.

TWINKERS / WISH CUB<REACTIONS> / <GIGGLE>

Twinkers circles Wish Cub and then darts up into the air.

TWINKERS

WHOOOA!

Suddenly, he starts to trail twinkling stardust and glow brightly. Then POOF! With a flash, Twinkers flies right back down into Wish Cub with such force that Wish Cub tumbles backwards.

WISH CUB

Whoa! Oof! <GIGGLE>! I get it! <GIGGLE> You’re a wishing star! <GIGGLE>

Wish Cub sits back up and looks cross-eyed at Twinkers, who is now attached to her tummy. She giggles.

WISH CUB (CONT’D)

(correcting)

No... I meant that I want us to be friends forever, not for you to be stuck on my tummy forever!

Twinkers smiles, nods, lights up again and pops off of Wish Cub’s tummy.

Suddenly, Wish Cub’s tummy symbol begins to glow. With a sparkly flash, her tummy symbol (which only had a rainbow on it) now has the addition of a star at the end of the rainbow.


WISH CUB

<GASP!> Look!... It’s you! I guess that means my wish came true! We’re going to be together forever!

PUSH IN on Wish Cub’s new tummy symbol as we...

MATCH DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. THE COSMOS

Present day.

WISH BEAR (V.O.)

... And that’s how Twinkers and I met and became--

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. WISH BEAR’S HOUSE / BALCONY - NIGHT

WISH BEAR-- best friends.

Wish Bear is looking through her telescope. With her are GRUMPY BEAR, CHEER BEAR, BEDTIME BEAR, FUNSHINE BEAR, HARMONY BEAR and TENDERHEART BEAR; all taking turns looking at the light-show that is the nighttime sky over Care-A-Lot.

TENDERHEART BEAR

<SIGH> I love that story. It always brings a <SHUDDER>

(chokes up)... tear to my eye.

HARMONY BEAR

Mine too! It’s such a happy story, it makes me wanna sing!

(singing:)LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA!!

GRUMPY BEAR

I know. It almost makes me less grumpy... Almost.

CHEER BEARWhat happened to the big wishing star?


WISH BEAR“Big Wish?” She’s still up there, keeping her eye on Twinkers and all the other wishing stars.

BEDTIME BEAR

(yawning)

<YAWN> Well, you know what I wish for?

FUNSHINE BEARAn air mattress, some flannel pajamas and a warm glass of milk?

The Care Bears GIGGLE.

CARE BEARS<GIGGLING>

BEDTIME BEAR

Huh? Heh-heh. Popcorn. Nothing goes with a good story like popcorn. <YAWN>

TENDERHEART BEAR

<LAUGHS>

WISH BEARPopcorn? Comin’ right up!

Wish Bear turns to Twinkers.

WISH BEAR (CONT’D)Twinkers!... I wish that there will be enough popcorn for everybody.

CHEER BEARUh, Wish Bear? Should you be using your wishes for something easy like making popcorn?

WISH BEARDon’t worry. I’m a trained professional!

Twinkers smiles, rises up into the air and spins around, throwing off stardust...

TWINKERS

<SPIN WALLA>

... and then POOF! a flash of light! Twinkers floats back down to the Care Bears.


CARE BEARS(impressed)

Ahhhhhh!

The Care Bears exchange glances as they hear a not-too-distant <RUMBLING>. It sounds like there’s a FREIGHT TRAIN headed their way!

CUT TO:

EXT. WISH BEAR’S HOUSE

The house shakes and quakes and after a few tense moments, the <RUMBLING STOPS>. All is silent.

EXT. WISH BEAR’S HOUSE / BALCONY - NIGHT

The Care Bears all look at each other, somewhere between curious and concerned.

BEDTIME BEAR

Wish Bear? What was all that?

Suddenly, the <RUMBLING> starts up again as EXPLOSION OF POPCORN shoot out the chimney of Wish Bear’s house!

CARE BEARS<GASPS> / Ohhhhh!

Popcorn rains down on the Care Bears like a torrential downpour!

FUNSHINE BEARWOOOOOOW!

WISH BEARTwinkers! When I wished for enough popcorn for everybody...

(Even though it was his wish, Bedtime Bear has nodded off.)

WISH BEAR / BEDTIME BEAR

I meant everybody here; not everybody in Care-A-Lot. / <SNORING>

Twinkers gives a little shrug and makes a NOISE that sounds suspiciously like...

TWINKERS

<OOPS...>


Funshine Bear catches a kernel in his mouth.

FUNSHINE BEARMmmmm! Extra buttery!

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. WISH BEAR’S HOUSE - MORNING

It's now the next day, and in a MUSICAL MONTAGE we get to see Wish Bear and Twinkers’s morning routine:

A) BEDROOM -- In CLOSE-UP, we see a HEART-SHAPED ALARM CLOCK (on a night stand) rattle and <RING> as the alarm bells quiver. A furry paw reaches INTO FRAME and shuts it off. The CAMERA PULLS BACK to reveal Wish Bear stretching.

WISH BEAR<YAWN!>

Wish Bear dozily gets out of bed just in time for Twinkers alarm clock to <RING> in the start of a new day! PULL BACK TO REVEAL each has their own perfectly-sized bed with matching nightstand and alarm clock.

Twinkers continues to doze.

TWINKERS

<SNORING>

Wish Bear lovingly pokes Twinkers who rolls over and pulls his blankets up higher.

TWINKERS (CONT’D)

<SIGHS>

After a moment, Twinkers springs up, wide awake!

TWINKERS (CONT’D)

Hm?!

... and zips off after Wish Bear.

B) WASHROOM -- Wish Bear finishes brushing her teeth. They <GLEAM> brightly! Wish Bear walks over to Twinkers (who is at a perfectly-sized sink and mirror) and helps him brush his teeth. They also <GLEAM> brightly!

C) KITCHEN -- Working like a perfectly synchronized team, Wish Bear and Twinkers prepare breakfast together.


We can tell that these two work together like a well-oiled machine.

Heart and star shaped bread goes down into the toaster as Twinkers leads the milk and orange juice out of the fridge and pours it into their glasses.

The toast pops up and Wish Cub catches all four pieces on two plates. She carries it to the table where Twinkers licks his lips in anticipation!

TWINKERS

<LICKS HIS LIPS>

Without hesitation, he <SLURPS> up his star-shaped toast!

TWINKERS (CONT’D)

<SLURP!> <GULP!>

This section ends with both Wish Bear and Twinkers sitting at the kitchen table where they clink their orange juice glasses together in a little toast before settling down to enjoy their meal.

TWINKERS

<LONG SLURP ON STRAW>

D) FRONT OF WISH BEAR’S HOUSE -- The MONTAGE ENDS as Wish Bear and Twinkers leave the house together, merrily going for a walk around Care-A-Lot. Twinkers is temporarily distracted by a beautiful butterfly before resuming his position next to Wish Bear.

MONTAGE ENDS.

EXT. FOREST - DAY

Wish Bear and Twinkers pass through the brightly-colored Care-A-Lot forest. <BIRDS CHIRP> as they walk along the path that leads to Share Bear.

Share Bear carries buckets to a few trees, which have wooden “taps” knocked into them.

WISH BEARGood morning, Share Bear!

SHARE BEARGood morning, Wish Bear. Good morning, Twinkers!

Twinkers gives a little wave with his “arm.”


TWINKERS

<SQUEAK>

WISH BEARHow’s it going?

SHARE BEARPretty good, except my sap isn’t flowing as nicely as I’d like it to.

WISH BEAR(sincere)

Oh, dear! Have you seen a doctor?

SHARE BEARHuh? Oh! <GIGGLE> I didn’t mean my sap, I meant my trees’ sap!

She points at a tap, which drips a single, lonely, rainbow-colored drop of sap into the bucket. Wish Bear turns to Twinkers as they both get it.

WISH BEAROhhhhhh. <GIGGLE>

SHARE BEARWithout rainbow sap, I can’t make rainbow syrup. And without rainbow syrup, I can’t make rainbow lollypops.

WISH BEAR(panicked)

<GASP!> No rainbow lollypops?!

(driven)

Well, that’s not gonna happen; not on my watch! Twinkers!

Twinkers snaps to attention.

WISH BEAR (CONT’D)(to Twinkers)

I wish that Share Bear gets plenty of rainbow sap!

Twinkers nods. He begins to glow as he rises in the air and spins, trailing a cascade of stardust.

TWINKERS

<SPIN WALLA>


On his decent, he weaves in and out of the trees, causes them to glow for a few moments before they fade back to their normal lighting. Beyond that, they appear normal and unaffected.

Twinkers stops spinning, a little dizzy.

TWINKERS

<GROANS>

Wish Bear smiles proudly at him. Suddenly, a <RUMBLING> can be heard. Share Bear runs over to the tap on the tree as the sap starts <GLUB, GLUB, GLUBBING> out!

SHARE BEAR<GASP!>

Wish Bear smiles.

WISH BEAROur work here is done! C’mon, Twinkers. See you later, Share Bear.

SHARE BEARSee ya! Thanks, Wish Bear.

Wish Bear and Twinkers continue on their way. As Share Bear empties two full buckets into a LARGE VAT. When she turns to head back to her trees, rainbow sap begins to flow from the taps even faster!

SHARE BEAR (CONT’D)Uh oh...

(calling out)

Wish bear!?

Share Bear runs back and forth trying her best replace all the buckets on all the trees before they overflow.

SHARE BEAR (CONT’D)<SQUEAL> WHAAAA! WHOA! Whoopsie-daisy!

But it’s like a deluge of syrup as she now holds two buckets on each arm, one on a foot and another balances atop her head.


SHARE BEAR (CONT’D)Woah-no!

(calling for help)

Wish Bear!!!

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. CARE-A-LOT - DAY

By the town square, Wish Bear and Twinkers pass by Grumpy Bear who works away on something that looks suspiciously like a rocket. He’s got his head buried inside a compartment as Wish Bear comes up behind him.

WISH BEARGood morning, Grumpy Bear!

GRUMPY BEAR

Huh?

CLUNK! Startled, Grumpy Bear hits his head against the inside of the compartment.

GRUMPY BEAR (CONT’D)OOF! Ow...

He comes out into the open, rubbing his cranium.

GRUMPY BEAR (CONT’D)It would be if I could get my newest invention to work.

WISH BEARWhat is it?

GRUMPY BEAR

It’s a bubble-powered rocket ship!...

(deflated)Only, it’s got more bubble than power.

Grumpy Bear takes a hammerout of a toolbox and leans back into the compartment. Wish Bear turns to Twinkers.

WISH BEAR<GIGGLE> Well, I think you and I know a way to fix Grumpy Bear’s rocket, right Twinkers?

Twinkers flutters with excitement.


WISH BEARI wish that Grumpy Bear’s rocket gets plenty of ZOOM!

TWINKERS

<GIGGLES>

Twinkers rises in the air and spins around trailing his signature, twinkling stardust.

TWINKERS (CONT’D)

<SPIN WALLA>

He starts to glow, and then explodes in a spiral up and down the length of the rocket ship before returning to Wish Bear’s side, looking a little winded.

TWINKERS (CONT’D)

(exhausted)<WHIMPER>

WISH BEARThat takes a lot out of you, doesn’t it, Twinkers.

Grumpy is distracted as he keeps adjusting. We HEAR HIS ECHOING VOICE from inside the compartment.

GRUMPY BEAR

(to himself)

More power... hmmm... <GROAN>

Wish Bear and Twinkers go down the stairs that lead from Grumpy’s rocket and continue on their way.

WISH BEARWell, that ought to do it! Have a nice trip, Grumpy!

GRUMPY BEAR (O.S.)Thanks....

(beat, then)

Huh?!

Grumpy Bear climbs back out of the compartment as it dawns on him...

GRUMPY BEAR

Nice trip?

Suddenly, the bubble-powered rocket’s <ENGINE FIRES>! Bubbles shoot out in all directions!


As Grumpy Bear watches the rocket begin to lift off, he jumps up to reach the cockpit.

GRUMPY BEAR (CONT’D)Wait! There’s no one on-board you...

The tail fin of the rocket snags Grumpy Bear.

GRUMPY BEAR (CONT’D)...STEEEEEEER!

Now he’s onboard!

EXT. ROCKET - DAY

Straddling the fuselage and riding the rocket like an out of control horse, Grumpy is taken on a wild journey over Care-A-Lot.

GRUMPY BEAR

(wild)<GRUNTING>

He holds on for dear life as the rocket flies this way and that, spewing bubbles in all directions.

GRUMPY BEAR

WIIIISSH BEAAAAAARRRRRR!!! AY, YIE, YIE, YIE, YIE, YIE, YIE YOWWWW!

The rocket dives down and through...

EXT. CARE-A-LOT - DOWNTOWN

It’s a carnival! Friend Bear licks a giant lollypop while a carousel full of Care Bears spins in the background.

Grumpy’s rocket... rockets through the scene and O/S!

GRUMPY BEAR

COMIN’ THROOOOUGH!......

It’s awesome power knocks Friend Bear to the ground and spins the carousel out of control!

FRIEND BEAR / CARE BEARS

AHHHH! / <SCREAMS>

CUT TO:


EXT. CARE-A-LOT - ANOTHER PART

Funshine Bear and Tenderheart Bear sit together at a little outdoor patio set, having a tea party.

FUNSHINE BEARMore tea?

WHOOOSH!...

GRUMPY BEAR

HEADS UP!!

The rocket blows past them and when it clears, they are both covered in clusters of <POPPING> bubbles. (One of the bubbles elevates the teapot in mid-air!)

BACK ON THE ROCKET -

GRUMPY BEAR

Sorry!!

CUT TO:

EXT. CARE-A-LOT - PLAYGROUND

GOOD LUCK BEAR is on a swing, with CHAMP BEAR behind, pushing.

GOOD LUCK BEARC’mon, Champ Bear. <LAUGH> Push harder!

CHAMP BEARYou got it! <EFFORT GRUNTS>

WHOOOSH! The rocket blows past them and the swing does several complete loops up and around the top bar.

GOOD LUCK BEARWOAH!--WOAH!--WOAH!--WOAH!--WOAH!!

When it comes to a stop, the swing now has Good Luck Bear tied up in a neat bundle to the top bar.

GOOD LUCK BEAR (CONT’D)

(dazed)

<GROAN> I think that was a little too hard.


BACK ON THE ROCKET --

As it continues to fly uncontrollably, Grumpy sees he’s headed for the tree tops!

GRUMPY BEAR

Oh no!!

Grumpy’s rocket crashes the trees O/S. (Leaves fly through the frame.)

GRUMPY BEAR (O/S CONT’D)

<MOANS & GROANS> Ouch! <MOANS>

Down below, Share Bear continues to dump full buckets of Rainbow Syrup into a large vat.

BACK ON THE TREE TOPS...

GRUMPY BEAR (O/S CONT’D)

<GROANING> Owww!

... as Grumpy is ejected from the rocket and plummets toward the giant vat of Rainbow Syrup!

GRUMPY BEAR (CONT’D)(scream)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

(then)<IMPACT GRUNT>

<SPLATT!> Syrup flies everywhere.

Grumpy’s head emerges from the sticky syrup:

GRUMPY BEAR (CONT’D)Rainbow Syrup.

Just then, Share Bear (O/S) tosses a bucket of syrup into the vat, before noticing that Grumpy has fallen in.

GRUMPY BEAR (CONT’D)Mmmm. My favorite.

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. CARE-A-LOT CASTLE - DAY - ESTABLISHING

TRUCK IN on Care-A-Lot Castle.

DISSOLVE IN ON:


INT. CARE-A-LOT CASTLE - DAY

Champ Bear glides down a rainbow slide that leads into the Care-A-Lot meeting room.

CHAMP BEARWA-HOOOOE! YEAH! <CHUCKLES>

He lands on a floating cloud that carries him toward the assembled crowd of Care Bears (who are all sitting on floating clouds... except Bedtime Bear. He’s sleeping on his!

Champ Bear floats next to a hovering cloud podium that has a gavel rested on top.

CHAMP BEAR<CLEARS THROAT> I’d like to call this weekly meeting of the Care-A-Lot Steering Committee, to order.

Champ Bear his the gavel on the podium. Instead of a solid “BANG” it makes a funny <SQUEAK> (like one of those toy hammers). The Care Bears <GIGGLE>.


Champ Bear smirks.

CHAMP BEARFunshine!

FUNSHINE BEAR(laughing)

<LAUGHS> Sorry about that. I just love those things.

Funshine Bear hands Champ Bear the real gavel. Champ Bear hits this one on the podium and it makes a satisfying wooden <BANG>.

CHAMP BEARAll right. First thing’s first; old business?... Anybody?

LOVE-A-LOT BEAR raises her hand.

LOVE-A-LOT BEAR

Ooh! Ooo, ooo!


CHAMP BEARThe floor recognizes: Love-A-Lot Bear.

Love-A-Lot’s cloud floats to the front of the assembly. She reads from a note pad.

LOVE-A-LOT BEAR

Thank you, Mr. Chair-Bear. Just an update on the plans for the visit from Princess Gig of Joke-a-lot: We’ve ordered extra cream pies and Funshine Bear assures me...

Funshine takes several bows as Love-A-Lot talks about his participation.

LOVE-A-LOT BEAR (PARTIAL O/S CONT’D)... that all of our dribble glasses and joy-buzzers will be in position for her arrival next month.

The Care Bears all <CHEER> and <APPLAUD>.

CARE BEARS<CHEER>

... we seem to be having a little problem with the “Care-O-Meter.”

Tenderheart points as the CAMERA PANS to the “Care-O-Meter;” a heart-shaped gauge (with a large needle) that has a sun, rainbows and hearts on one side, and storm clouds and darkness on the other.

TENDERHEART BEAR (CONT’D)

The needle’s moved away from the rainbow side, and has moved closer to the rain clouds side.

FRIEND BEAR

<GASP!> You mean, somewhere in Care-A-Lot, there isn’t as much caring as their should be?!

GRUMPY BEAR

Well, there goes the neighbourhood!

TENDERHEART BEAR

Let’s not get too worried. Sometimes, we just need a little reminder about what caring is all about.

GOOD LUCK BEARI’ve got an idea! How about we make this “Show How Much We Care Month?” We can all make an extra effort to show how much we care.

Wish Bear looks at her friends, a little shocked at this outburst.

GRUMPY BEAR (O.S.)Your wishes always...

Share Bear interrupts Grumpy, afraid he’ll offend Wish Bear:

But she can’t find the words either. It’s Friend Bear to the rescue:

Well... sometimes your wishes don’t quite work out the way you want them to...

All eyes turn to Wish Bear, who looks a little surprised and hurt at this exchange.

CHAMP BEARWell then, it’s settled! I officially announce the start of “Show How Much We Care Month.” Meeting adjourned!

He brings down the gavel which <SQUEAKS> again.

<LAUGH> / (annoyed) Funshine!


The Care Bears, in groups of two and three, merrily leave Care-A-Lot Castle.

Wish Bear and Twinkers are the last ones to leave. Both look downcast.

WISH BEAR(upset)

<SIGH> I didn’t know... they didn’t like our wishes, Twinkers.

Wish Bear and Twinkers watch as the others head back to their homes. MUSICAL NUMBER ONE begins. As Wish Bear walks back to her house with Twinkers, she takes us on a mini-tour of some of the parts of Care-A-Lot we haven’t yet seen; all the while singing a song about the power and beauty of wishing:

Wish Bear hops off of Twinkers’ swing as we dissolve to Wish Bear hopping off the swing in the playground.

She runs and jumps as she chases a playful Twinkers while the other Care Bears sweep and tidy in the BG.

CUT TO:

As Wish Bear continues further into Care-A-Lot, the other Care Bears can be seen cleaning and working hard.

Wish Bear bends down and delicately caresses a potted flower, not yet in bloom.

WISH BEAR (CONT’D)If there's something I wantThere's no reason to fret

Twinkers circles around the flower, trailing his magical stardust.

Suddenly, the potted flower blooms and glows as other beautiful flowers bloom around it.

Wish Bear bounces and frolics on the centre of a giant flower.

Wish Bear and Twinkers fly through the sky. Wish Bear flaps her arms as though they were wings - birds follow in behind.

Wish Bear stands with Twinkers at the bottom of the steps that lead from the balcony. Suddenly, an idea forms.

WISH BEAR<GIGGLE> Twinkers, that’s it! If there aren’t any around who like wishing as much as we do, all we need to do is wish us up some more! Right?!

TWINKERS

(agreeing)Mm-hm!!

WISH BEAR / TWINKERS<GIGGLE> Okay! / <GIGGLE>

Twinkers seems as excited as Wish Bear. He stands at attention and gives a little salute, awaiting his orders. Wish Bear shuts her eyes and really gets into this one.

WISH BEAR (CONT’D)I wish... for some more bears in Care-A-Lot, who really, really, REALLY love wishing!

Twinkers shoot straight up in the air...


TWINKERS

WWW-EEEE! HA HA! WEEEEEE!

... before descending back down to Wish Bear (almost knocking her over!)...

WISH BEARWoah!

... and then flies back up into the sky where he takes a <DEEP BREATH> before spinning (and sending off trails of stardust).

TWINKERS

<DEEP BREATH>(then)

<SPIN WALLA>

And then... <BLAM!> PULL OUT TO REVEAL an explosion of light shooting out from Twinkers. (This, apparently, was one heck of a wish!)

CUT TO:

EXT. CARE-A-LOT - CHEER BEARS’ HOUSE - CONTINUOUS

Cheer Bear is raking leaves when she stops to look into the illuminated sky.

CUT TO:

EXT. CARE-A-LOT - FOREST - CONTINUOUS

Share Bear is emptying Rainbow Syrup into the vat when she notices the bright glow emanating from the sky.

CUT TO:

INT. BEDTIME BEARS’ HOUSE

Bedtime Bear is fast asleep in his bed until he is startled awake by Twinkers’ bright glow that shines through his window.

BEDTIME BEAR

<SNORING> Huh?

Bedtime Bear turns to look at the mysterious glow and tumbles out of bed!


BEDTIME BEAR (CONT’D)OOF!

CUT TO:

EXT. WISH BEAR’S HOUSE

Twinkers stops spinning and tumbles back to the ground.

TWINKERS

WOOOOOOOAH! WOAH!

Wish Bear looks up, concerned. She runs and tries to catch him...

WISH BEARUh oh!...

... but she’s not there in time and Twinkers lands safely in a cloud.

TWINKERS

WOOOOOOOOOOAH - OOOOH!

Wish Bear runs over to Twinkers.

WISH BEAR<WORRIED GRUNTS>

(then)<EFFORT GRUNTS> Oh, dear.

She pulls him out of the cloud. Twinkers is dizzier than we’ve ever seen him. Wish Bear gives him a big hug.

WISH BEAR (CONT’D)(hugging Twinkers)

Mmmmmmm!

Twinkers perks up!

TWINKERS

<PERKY WALLA>

And he <LICKS> Wish Bear on the face, as if he were a puppy.

WISH BEAR<GIGGLE>

The giggle-fest is interrupted when Wish Bear looks up as, from all directions, the Care Bears arrive at her house as if responding to an emergency.


CHAMP BEAR (O.S.)

Wish Bear! Wish Bear! Is everything all right?

BEDTIME BEAR

<PANTING> I saw a bright flash... like lightning!

(slightly annoyed)

It woke me up.

FRIEND BEAR

I saw it, too.

TENDERHEART BEAR

We came as soon as we could.

CARE BEARS<AGREEING WALLA>

WISH BEARNo! No! Guys... everything is fine. Umm... I was just making a wish.

Suddenly, in the distance, <RUMBLING> can be heard.

FUNSHINE BEARIt must have been a doozy!

Care-A-Lot shakes and quakes and Care Bears almost lose their balance. <BIRDS> fly from their homes signalling the forth-coming of... something.

All heads turn and watch as a cloud of dust seems to be closing in on them.

SHARE BEAR(nervously)

Uh... Wish Bear? What did you wish for?

As the cloud of dust gets closer we see that there’s a vehicle of some sort in the center of it. It looks like a motorhome. This is the “CLOUD CAMPER”.

The Cloud Camper is a noisy vehicle that spews pollution in the form of little rain clouds. Its tires tear up the ground. Twinkers hides behind Wish Bear.

TWINKERS

Uh oh!

WISH BEAR<GULP>!


With a WHEEZE and a SHUDDER, the cloud camper comes to a halt in front of the Care Bears. The spare tire on the back falls to the ground with a <THUD>.

There is a pause as the Care Bears stare at the mysterious vehicle.

CHAMP BEAR(amazed)

WOOOAH!

And then like the mother ship cracking open, the door of the cloud camper opens.

TOO-LOUD BEARHEY!!

A red bear comes out of the camper: TOO-LOUD BEAR -- a gregarious character, prone to speaking loudly.

His volume startles Cheer Bear - she hops into Champ Bears arms!

CHEER BEAR<GASP!>

TOO-LOUD BEARNow this is what I call a welcome!

Too-loud Bear jumps down from the camper and starts greeting and “shmoozing” with the Care Bears. He runs over to Grumpy:

TOO-LOUD BEARHow’s it goin’?

Then to Funshine:

TOO-LOUD BEARLove that tummy symbol.

Funshine just stands there - not sure what to make of this.

TOO-LOUD BEAR (CONT’D)

HELL-O!

(then, he points a finger at her)

My name is TOO-LOUD BEAR!

Suddenly, Too-Loud Bear pops up behind Cheer Bear and Laugh-A-Lot Bear.



Some people say it’s because I’m too loud.

(then, louder)Isn’t that a riot?! <LAUGHS UPROARIOUSLY>

Too-loud Bear <LAUGHS UPROARIOUSLY> and, well, very loudly as he spins Laugh-A-Lot and Cheer Bear around in circles.

TOO-LOUD BEAR (CONT’D) Cracks me up, I’m tellin’ ya!

(to Champ Bear)What’d you say your name is again?

He points a digit at Champ Bear and gets him in the nose <SFX: SQUEAK>. Champ Bear looks stunned, like a deer caught in headlights.

CHAMP BEARUm, I’m, um, Champ Bear. <GIGGLES> We’re the Care Bears. And this is Care-A-Lot.

Too-loud Bear turns back to the cloud camper.

TOO-LOUD BEARHey, Me Bear!

He <BANG, BANG, BANGS> obnoxiously on the front of the camper.


Did you hear that? This is “Care-A-Lot”.

ME BEAR exits the Cloud Camper caring a hand mirror.

ME BEAR

(singing)

Me, Me, Me, Me, Me, Me, Me...

She’s a prissy sort of bear who seems very pleased with herself to the point of preoccupation.

ME BEAR (CONT’D)

Care-A-Lot? What’s in it for me?

(then, to her reflection in the mirror)

Me, me, me, me, me, me, me...


SHARE BEARWell... lots of things! This is a place for caring and...

TOO-LOUD BEAR(interrupting)

That’s swell. So tell me, Chimp Bear...

CHAMP BEAR(correcting, nicely)

“Champ” Bear...

TOO-LOUD BEAR... Whatever. Is this Care-A-Lot a nice place to live? Property values rising, good schools? You know the drill; location, location, location!

BEDTIME BEAR

<YAWN> Well, we like it here.

TOO-LOUD BEARHey, I’m not keeping you up, am I?

WISH BEAR<GIGGLE> No, that’s Bedtime Bear. He’s always tired.

Bedtime Bear decides it’s a good time to take a nap.

BEDTIME BEAR

<SNORING>

CARE BEARS / CLUELESS BEARS<LAUGH>

There laughing is interrupted by an O.S. <SNEEZE>.

MESSY BEAR (O.S.)

AHHH-CHOOOO!

The CAMERA WHIP PANS to the door of the Cloud Camper where MESSY BEAR now stands. Messy Bear is a walking dust-ball. He speaks with a nasal twang, as if he’s got a cold, or a wad of dust up his nose.

MESSY BEAR(continuing)

<SNIFFILNG> I’m Messy Bear. Who are you? ... And what’s that? <SNEEZE>-Oh...


Messy Bear points to Twinkers who circles around Wish Bear.

WISH BEARI’m Wish Bear and this is Twinkers. He’s a wish star.

MESSY BEARWow! You mean, you just wish on him <SNIFF> and get everything you want?

WISH BEARYep!

ME BEAR

How wonderful! I’ll give you a dollar for him.

WISH BEAR<GIGGLE> He’s not for sale.

ME BEAR

Two dollars... Plus an autographed picture of me.

Me Bear pulls out a head shot of herself smiling broadly. She starts to sign it, speaking aloud as she writes.

ME BEAR

To... Wish Bear... Best Wishes... Me Bear.

Twinkers hides behind Wish Bear.

WISH BEAR(smiling)

I’m glad you like him so much, but he’s really not for sale.

TOO-LOUD BEARA tough negotiator, eh? I respect that.

FUNSHINE BEARSo, what brings you to Care-A-Lot?

The Clueless Bears look at one another and shake their heads.

TOO-LOUD BEARDon’t know! We were just driving around, looking for a new place to call home, when we suddenly had an uncontrollable urge to come here.


MESSY BEARAlmost like... we couldn’t resist it.

Who look at each other, excited.

WISH BEAR(quietly)

<GASP!> Twinkers! These must be the bears we wished for!

Twinkers nods his head and does a few flips, also excited.

Ooo, me too.

Messy Bear sneezes, and a cloud of dust is shaken off of his person.

CARE BEARS<SNICKER>

TOO-LOUD BEARSo... I think we’re gonna move in.

The Clueless Bears head back to the camper to get their things.

LOVE-A-LOT BEAR / CARE BEARSYAY! / <CHEER>

A beat, and then a huge <CRASH!!> as all the Clueless Bears’ belongings are thrown onto the ground.

MESSY BEAR<SNEEZE>

What’s all that?


Too-Loud Bear stands atop the giant pile of stuff.

TOO-LOUD BEAROur new house! <EFFORT GRUNT>

He tosses an item down to the ground.


Seeing how we’re settling here, we’re gonna have to build it.

The Care Bears all nod in agreement.

WISH BEARYou know, Twinkers and I could just wish it built for you.

As a BOUNCY TUNE PLAYS, we see the Care Bears build the Clueless Bears new home.

Too-loud Bear takes control, shouting orders at the bears through a bullhorn.

Let’s go! Come on! Keep the beat! Come on, let’s go!

A) The floor pieces, which are rolled up like logs, are hustled into position and unfurled.

B) The walls are folded and lay flat. Funshine, Friend Bear and Share Bear unfold them.

C) PAN OUT TO REVEAL that all the Care Bears have unfolded all the walls.

D) All the Care Bears, three at a time, grab a wall and lift it, making a sort of pop-up house.

E) Messy Bear and Me Bear watch from the sidelines. Messy Bear eats potato chips and Me Bear holds a parasol.

F) Too-Loud Bears stands on the floor of the house as the walls are erected around him. The kitchen sink, counters and refrigerator all pop out into place.

G) The pieces of the first floor roof (second level floor) fall together like giant jigsaw puzzle pieces. Too-Loud Bear escapes before it traps him in!

TOO-LOUD BEARYIIIIIIIIIIKKKES!

H) Bedtime, Grumpy, Funshine and Friend Bear run up the new stairs and finish “popping out” the top floor walls.

I) Bedtime Bear folds out the bedroom and decides it’s a good time to test out the new bed!

Wish Bear forgot Twinkers! She opens the door and he joins her down the front steps as Wish Bear sings a cheery, familiar tune.

Wish Bear and Twinkers walk down a path towards the Clueless Bear’s house.

As Wish Bear approaches the house we see Messy Bear painting a portrait of Me Bear.

Bedtime Bear is fast asleep in his bedroom, unaware of the thumping coming from the Clueless Bears' new house.

Bedtime Bear doesn’t realize that his house is now tilting to one side.

The Clueless Bears' house finally stops growing, however it’s now a sprawling complex!

Care-A-Lot Field is the Care Bear version of Central Park; a broad main field, trees along the perimeter, a pond, and a beautiful stream that flows through it.

The two groups of Care Bears (those who travelled by air, and those who travelled by foot) greet one another at the picnic spot.

It’s the Clueless Bears' Cloud Camper cresting the hill. It bursts through some foliage and it’s headed right for them!

Too-loud Bear (who’s driving) happily (and obnoxiously) BLOWS the <AIR HORN> several times.

TOO-LOUD BEAROH YEAH!

CARE BEARS(wild)

Ahh! / Run! / Out of the way! / Oh my! Look out!

The Care Bears huddle together, stunned, as Too-loud Bear drives the Cloud Camper right through the middle of the picnic blanket, flattening sandwiches and crushing picnic baskets before, with a <HISS of AIR BRAKES> the Cloud Camper comes to a stop... and <BACKFIRES LOUDLY>

Bedtime Bear finally wakes up.

(sleepy)

<wakes up> Picnic time already?

The Care Bears move cautiously to the back of the cloud camper to inspect what’s left of their picnic. Giant tire tracks run through their picnic blanket, and the sandwiches are squashed flat.

FUNSHINE BEARWell, at least they missed the cake.

Just then, the spare tire that hangs on the back of the Camper falls <SPLATT!> -- onto the cake.


With incredible good cheer, the Clueless Bears walk out of the cloud camper.

It’s ME! <GIGGLE>

TOO-LOUD BEARLet’s eat! I’m starving!

He looks around at the stunned expressions on everyone’s faces.

The Care Bears sit around their picnic blanket with the Clueless Bears. While the Care Bears do their best job of eating their run-over sandwiches, the Clueless Bears go about their business of devouring their lunch.

Too-loud Bear talks loudly between bites of his monster sandwich.


... So, then Wish Bear tells Twiddles to make the house bigger, and WHAM! BAM! POOF! That little fellow goes to work spinning, and glowing, and zipping around like a crazy star. Ha, ha! Next thing we know, the house: is a mansion!!

MESSY BEAR(eating)

Mmm... You know. The wishing star thingee.


WISH BEAR(politlely correcting, giggly)

But, <SIGH> I wished for some neighbours to move into Care-A-Lot who loved wishing as much as I do.

Twinkers begins to spin and glow. He spirals around Wish Bear, throwing off stardust that zaps off Wish Bear’s tummy symbol...

WISH BEAR<GASP!> Oh no.

... and transfers it to the tummies of Too-loud Bear, Messy Bear, and Me Bear!

Funshine Bear <KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!s> on Wish Bear’s front door. We see he’s carrying a pad and pencil. After no one answers, Funshine tries the front door. It’s open so he enters slowly. The lights are out - it’s very dark.

FUNSHINE BEARUh... Wish Bear? I... came to see how it went with...

Wish Bear cowers in the corner. Funshine hits the light switch and sees...

FUNSHINE BEAR<GASP!>

...Wish Bear, WITHOUT HER TUMMY SYMBOL!!

WISH BEAR<GASP!> Don’t look at me...I’m hideous! <GROANS>

FUNSHINE BEAR(concerned)

Wish Bear lies down on the couch in misery.

WISH BEAR<SIGH> I accidentally wished Twinkers away to Me Bear, Messy Bear, and Too-Loud Bear. They said I could have him back today around five-ish. <SIGH>

FUNSHINE BEARThat explains what’s going on with the Care-O-Meter!

Funshine reads to Wish Bear from the pad he’s holding.


FUNSHINE BEARThe Care-O-Meter has moved from “mostly caring” to “not caring enough.” Care-A-Lot is getting into big trouble!

WISH BEARI know, and it’s all my fault. I thought I knew how to control my wishing, but I didn’t. And without Twinkers, I’m not sure I even know how to care anymore.

Funshine sits down on a chair and crosses his legs. He puts on a nose, glasses and mustache disguise and now looks like a psychoanalyst.

FUNSHINE BEARHmmm. Interesting. Tell me about “caring.”

Funshine holds up his pad and pencil, preparing to take notes.

WISH BEARI can’t. I feel all empty inside.

FUNSHINE BEARInteresting... Tell me about “empty inside.”

WISH BEAR(distraught)

“Empty inside” means... I need Twinkers back. He’s my best friend.

FUNSHINE BEARWell, I think you should go over there and ask for him back. Now. Don’t wait for five-ish!

WISH BEAR(hopeful)

Do you really think that would work?

FUNSHINE BEARSure! Our new neighbors may be different from us, but they’re still nice. I’m sure if you ask they’ll wish Twinkers back to you right away.


WISH BEAR(encouraged)

All right! I’m going to do it right now! Thank you, Funshine.

Funshine hops off the chair and walks O.S.


The dark clouds are becoming more and more ominous by the minute, and the SOUND OF <DISTANT THUNDER> can be heard.

WISH BEARThis is getting really bad.

Wish Bear continues on her way towards the Clueless Bears' mansion. What she doesn’t see as she goes is that the flowers by her feet are beginning to droop and lose their color.


Wish Bear turns up the path to the Clueless Bears' house and freezes.

WISH BEAR Oh no! What have they done now!

The CAMERA DOLLIES AROUND Wish Bear’s back and we see what she does: the Clueless Bears have gone on a wishing binge! Their house is now bigger and gaudier than ever, with fountains and statuary adorning the yard. It’s the size of Buckingham Palace, with smoke-spewing chimneys dotting the roof.

Neither Twinkers or the Clueless Bears can be seen.


WISH BEARThis is awful.

(calling)

Twinkers?! Twinkers!

<VROOOM! VROOOM!> Wish Bear looks up and then quickly jumps out of the way as Too-Loud Bear drives up on a big, flashy motorcycle with a too-loud muffler that spews dark, polluting clouds.

Too-Loud Bear flips up the front visor of his helmet. SHOUTS to Wish Bear over the NOISE of the motorcycle.

TOO-LOUD BEARWishy! How do you like it? I just wished this baby up! ISN’T IT GREAT?!

Too-Loud Bear REVS THE MOTOR. That’s when Wish Bear sees SOUND WAVES BLASTING OUT OF THE TAILPIPE with such force, they knock the color out of some nearby flowers.

WISH BEARStop!

TOO-LOUD BEAR(straining to hear)

What was that?!

WISH BEARSTOP! IT’S SO LOUD, IT’S BLOWING THE COLOUR RIGHT OUT OF CARE-A-lOT!!

Too-Loud turns the motorcycle off.

TOO-LOUD BEARBlowing the color right out of Care-A-Lot?

(starts laughing)

<LAUGHS> I gotta tell you... you Care Bears! Always making with the jokes.

WISH BEARI’m not joking. Look!

Wish Bear points. Too-Loud Bear sees the pale, wilted flowers behind the motorcycle.

TOO-LOUD BEARYou sure those weren’t like that before?


WISH BEARYes. I’m sure!

Both Too-Loud Bear and Wish Bear look up as more dark clouds roll in and <THUNDER IS HEARD>.

TOO-LOUD BEARWhat’s with the clouds? The travel agent said Care-A-Lot never gets rain this time of the year.

WISH BEARIt’s all the wishing we’ve been doing. Please, I’ve got to find Twinkers. Where is he?

Too-Loud Bear seems to be getting the message. He looks worried, too.

I think he’s out back with Me Bear. She wanted to do some redecorating.

A MASSIVE “ME BEAR” AMUSEMENT PARK COMPLEX behind the house!

By the big front gate is a giant statue of Me Bear, surrounded by other pink, sparkling Me Bear statues.

ME BEAR (PARTIAL O.S.)

Greetings visitors! And welcome to “Me Bear World.” An entire amusement park dedicated to the celebration of...well... ME!

TOO-LOUD BEAR(worried)

Me Bear! Look at all of this.

ME BEAR

Beautiful, isn’t it? It’s all me, all the time.

WISH BEARBut Me Bear, your smokestack.


A huge smokestack stands in the middle of the amusement park, blowing thick, black smoke into the sky.

WISH BEAR (CONT’D)The smoke coming out of it is blocking out the sun.

ME BEAR

Oh, that’s just the factory.

WISH BEARThe factory?

ME BEAR

For the gift shop. I manufacture all of my own trinkets and souvenirs. Helps control costs.

Me Bear gives Wish Bear a toy model of herself. She pokes its tummy and it sings the same tune we heard Me Bear sing earlier: “Me, me, me, me, me, me, me!”

WISH BEARBut... <GASP!>

Before Wish Bear can finish, Me Bear slaps a crown on Wish Bear’s head. Dripping from the crown are pictures of Me Bear.

ME BEAR

<GIGGLE>

Wish Bear throws the crown to the ground.

WISH BEAR(flustered)

NO! Don’t you understand!

ME BEAR

What?

WISH BEARA whole amusement park all about you is no way to show that you care.

ME BEAR

(sincerely)It shows that I care about me. Doesn’t that count?

Too-Loud Bear shakes his head “no.”

WISH BEARWhere’s Twinkers?

ME BEAR

Twinkers? I saw him inside the house with Messy Bear.

<THUNDER CRACKS> and Me Bear notices the sky for the first time. A worried look comes to her face.

ME BEAR

Hey... what happened to the sky?

Too-Loud Bear is now just as worried as Wish Bear. He hops on his motorcycle and Wish Bear hops in the side car. The zoom O.S.

ME BEAR

Hey, wait for me!

Me Bear runs after them.

CUT TO:

INT. CLUELESS BEARS’S HOUSE / KITCHEN - DAY

The kitchen is totally trashed, like an army of messy chefs took over the place and didn’t clean up after themselves. Messy Bear sits in a director’s chair, giving directions to Twinkers who doesn't look nearly as shiny as he used to. As a matter of fact, he seems downright tired from overuse.

MESSY BEARNow, I wish for a dozen eggs!

Twinkers spins and a shower of sparks shoots out from him.

TWINKERS

<WHIMPER>

Even Twinkers’ sparks seem tired and lack energy. A dozen eggs appear in mid-air and SPLAT! onto Messy Bear and the floor.



Ooops! <CHUCKLES> I meant to say that I wish for a dozen eggs all cracked into a bowl. Oh, and no shells this time.

TWINKERS

(frustrated)

<SIGH>

Twinkers zaps another dozen eggs. And a bowl. The bowl hovers in mid-air.


And now, I wish for some chocolate powder, milk, and sugar. And a mixer to really beat it well, k?

All the ingredients SPLASH DOWN into the bowl, and then a mixer appears. Beaters go into the bowl and the mixer turns on by itself, sending chocolaty cake batter all over the place... and on Messy.

MESSY BEARWhoa! <GROAN>

Too-Loud Bear and Me Bear run in:

WISH BEARMess!

Twinkers looks over and sees Wish Bear. He lets out a YELP.


Alright, alright! Now we need a big pie plate so we can...

WISH BEAR (O.S.)

Twinkers races over to Wish Bear and she hugs him.

WISH BEAROh, Twinkers! Look at you!


Weary, Twinkers looks up at Wish Bear.

MESSY BEAROh. Is it five-ish already?

Too-Loud Bear looks around, concerned.

TOO-LOUD BEARMessy Bear? What are you doing?

MESSY BEAR(proudly)

I am making myself a “mud pie.”

WISH BEAR“Mud pie?”

MESSY BEARIt’s just an expression. They’re really tasty. It’ll be ready in a minute. Uh, pull up a chair...

(looks around)Oh, uh, well... if you can find one. Uh, oh never mind. I’ll just wish you up one...

Wish Bear has had enough!


That’s it! NO MORE WISHING! Don’t you care about the mess you’re making?

MESSY BEAROf course not... I’ll just get Twinkers to clean up the kitchen after I’m done.

WISH BEARIt’s not just the kitchen, it’s all of Care-A-Lot.

MESSY BEAR(concerned)

Wish Bear leads the Messy Bear (and the other Clueless Bears) outside.

Look at the rainbow.

Everyone turns and looks at the big rainbow that adorns Care-A-Lot. Sure enough, the color is draining from the bands like someone’s turned on a tap at the bottom. Behind it, dark clouds continue to blow in.

TOO-LOUD BEARDid we really do that?

GRUMPY BEAR

We didn’t mean to.

Oh, we know. It’s just you’ve been so busy wishing up things, you’ve forgotten to take the time to care about others.

Twinkers! I wish that all of this was gone.


I don’t think wishing’s... <GASP!> Twinkers, no!

But it’s too late. Twinkers rises into the air, spins, and with a BRIGHT EXPLOSION of sparks, Care-A-Lot is transformed into a totally white, featureless environment! It’s just the Care Bears and Clueless Bears on a completely WHITE BACKGROUND.

WISH BEARI really think it’s enough wishing...

Twinkers! I wish for everything to be back how it was, but with more colour.

Wearily, Twinkers rises, spins, and ZAPP! Care-A-Lot is back to its previous dirty condition but now all of the Care Bears glow a BRIGHT NEON GLOW (complete with INTERMITTENT TRANSFORMER NOISE!) that flashes on and then off.

ZAP! Messy’s back to normal.

Twinkers rises once more, arms drooping. Spins. Glows. Zap! Care-A-Lot is how it was before Messy Bear’s wishing spree, but still dirty and still in trouble.

WISH BEAR(firmly)

NO. MORE. WISHING!!

All heads turn. Wish Bear is holding Twinkers who looks completely exhausted.

WISH BEAR (CONT’D)He can’t take any more.


Everyone looks at Twinkers who isn't glowing at all anymore. He's panting, exhausted.

TENDERHEART BEAR

Poor Twinkers.

A LOUD CLAP OF THUNDER IS HEARD. The wind starts to pick up.

ME BEAR

Poor us! Look!

The storm is really closing in on them, and the color is draining away faster and faster.

CHAMP BEARPlease wish Twinkers back to Wish Bear so she can help Care-A-Lot!

MESSY BEARUh, um... good idea. Uh, Twinkers! I wish you back to Wish Bear.

TWINKERS

<PATHETIC WHIMPER> (then) PFFFFFFFT!

Twinkers begins to rise into the air, but like a helium balloon that’s losing it’s gas, he only gets a little of the way up before settling back down into Wish Bear’s arms. Twinkers is spent.

<GASP!> What’s wrong?

WISH BEARIt’s like he’s been all used up.

MESSY BEAR(upset)

Oh... Oh, Twinkers! I’m sorry!

All the concerned bears gather around Wish Bear who’s holding Twinkers.

GOOD LUCK BEARWhat are we going to do?

A determined look comes to Wish Bear’s face. She takes charge, big time.

Wish Bear starts to walk O.S.

Wish Bear, Grumpy Bear, and Messy Bear are in the bubble-powered rocked, strapped-in three across in the pilot seats of the cockpit. Wish Bear holds Twinkers in her arms.

Grumpy pushes a lever and the rocket ship BLASTS OFF, a stream of bubbles spewing from the rear.

It zooms high away from Care-A-Lot. Up...up...and away!

MESSY BEARYAAAAAAA!

EXT. THE COSMOS - DAY

Grumpy’s rocket blasts away from earth and into the cosmos.

INT. GRUMPY’S ROCKET - DAY

Our trio of space explorers look out the front windows.

MESSY BEAR (O.S.)

Grumpy. Can’t this thing go any faster?

GRUMPY BEAR (O.S.)Well I put high octane bubbles in it.

Wish Bear studies the cosmos in front of her. Smiles.

MESSY BEARThey! What’s that?

Grumpy Bear and Messy Bear see what Wish Bear is pointing to.


Good eye, Messy! That’s Big Wish.

Big Wish is the giant wishing star from the opening story Wish Bear told to the other Care Bears at the start of the film.


She’s the source of all wishing power. She can make Twinkers better again. I just know it!

PAN DOWN TO TINKERS who’s looking quite ill.



Grumpy; slow us down!

GRUMPY BEAR

Brace yourselves.

Grumpy pulls on the lever and the rocket ship slams on it’s brakes... hard. He hits his head with a <THUNKK>!

GRUMPY BEAR (CONT’D)Ouch.

Wish Bear turns to her companions.

WISH BEAR (O.S.)

Keep it running, Grumpy....

EXT. GRUMPY’S ROCKET - DAY

Wish Bear opens her hatch and flies out. She’s wearing a glass space helmet now and she’s still carrying Twinkers.

WISH BEAR (CONT’D)... I’ll be right back.

Wish Bear zips over towards Big Wish, who speaks with a wise, old woman voice (think of “The Oracle” from THE MATRIX.)

BIG WISH

Well, bless my stars! Twinkers! Look how big you’ve grown!

Twinkers slowly floats over to Big Wish and rest on one of her points.

BIG WISH (CONT’D)

And I know you. You’re Wish Bear, Twinkers best friend!

Wish Bear looks down, guilty.

WISH BEARI-I thought I was his best friend, but... I didn’t take good enough care of him.

BIG WISH

Ahhh, too much wishing.



Yes. And now look at him. He’s so weak. Is there any way you can help him get better?

BIG WISH

That depends on you.

WISH BEARIf you mean, “did I learn my lesson?” Yes. Wishing is fun, but it’s more important to work hard to make your dreams come true. And if you can do it with your friends, that’s the best way to show that you care.

(smiles)

Big Wish starts to spin and glow. Twinkers flies a little away from her. She spins, throwing off a beautiful shower of sparks.

<SQUEALS OF DELIGHT> Ta da!

TWINKERS IS BACK TO NORMAL!

(the hug)

<SIGH OF RELIEF>

Twinkers, fully rejuvenated, flies to Wish Bear and they hug. After a moment, Wish Bear turns to Big Wish.

Spewing bubbles, the rocket lands nearby. The hatch opens and Wish Bear, Grumpy Bear, Messy Bear, and the newly energized Twinkers jump out and race over to their friends.

The Care Bears and Clueless Bears have formed into the shape of a giant heart at the base of the bubble rocket. Wish Bear points, sending the Bears off in all different directions.

Wish Bear and Twinkers hop in a Cloud Car and fasten their seat belts.

They zoom off and eventually catch up with Good Luck Bear in his helicopter, and a small armada of two-passenger Cloud Cars driven by the other Care Bears.

Wish Bear looks over at Twinkers, as if to apologize. Twinkers has obviously accepted.

Good Luck Bear’s helicopter plows through a collection of dark clouds, pushing them away.

The squadron starts to circle the dark clouds, like sheepdogs tending a herd.

Two Cloud Cars approach and push more dark clouds out of the sky.

Bedtime Bear notices a small, dark cloud that the others missed. He spins the Cloud Car around and goes after the rogue cloud. They “victory high-five” one another!

From her cloud car, Wish Bear sees something coming. She smiles when she sees it’s ...GRUMPY BEAR’S ROCKET SHIP APPROACHING!

The Care Bears, in their flying vehicles, have managed to push all the storm clouds together to make one big storm cloud.

They put up a valiant fight and keep the clouds tightly pushed together.

He’s in full “Han Solo” mind-set!

The rainbow syrup shoots out of the rocket! Suddenly, the rocket pods break off and the Clueless Bears help to wrap syrupy rainbows around the entire storm cloud.

SONG (V.O.)

Because a wish is just a dreamThat takes the workof a caring team

The cloud is now wrapped in rainbows like a present (complete with bow)!

ON WISH BEAR AND TWINKERS - Twinkers exits the vehicle and makes several stardust circles in front of the storm cloud... the circles form a giant target!

Will make this dream come true

Grumpy Bear swoops towards camera:

YEEEEE-HAAAAA!!!!

The <MUSIC PAUSES> as he drives his rocket right in to the centre of the cloud!

It <EXPLODES> in a magical display of hearts, stardust and rainbows!

A giant rainbow that leads back down to Care-A-Lot is formed and Grumpy slides down on it!

Wish Bear sees that her plan has worked and she and Twinkers embrace.

As the first rainbow lands in Care-A-Lot, the flowers stand tall once again, as the colour drains back into them!

The Care Bears did it! The sun is shining brightly in the sky again, and the rainbow has all of it’s colour back.

They all dive back down to Care-A-Lot!

The Clueless Bears look down, embarrassed at the attention.

You know... working hard to make Care-A-Lot this beautiful, actually feels better than if we wished for it.

Twinkers happily spins and lights up. He circles the Clueless Bears, removing the “wish graphics” from their tummies... and returning Wish Bear's tummy symbol back to normal! Twinkers is hers once more!
