    TRANSFORMATION

When we clean, repair, or otherwise restore

things in our possession, we often say good

as new or just like new. This, according to

the book of Revelation, is what happens toanything that is filled with the glory of Christ.

When scripture uses the word new it

doesnt merely mean a different one, areplacement (as our advertisements do), but

it carries the sense of something being

transformed so fully and completely that it is

now almost unrecognizable. Our world is filled

with tears, death, pain, thirst, darkness; but

the new worldthe new heavens and new

earth brought about by Christs resurrection

is filled with joy, everlasting life, glory, livingwater, and light. As Paul noted in his second

letter to the church at Corinth, if we are in

Christ, then we are a new creation. Anddisciples who are a new creation, who live in

the new heaven and earth brought about by

Christ, are also daily practitioners of a new

commandment: to love one another with

that transforming, re-new-ing love that Christ

bestowed on us. Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co.

    A message from the Director.

The Casa community has been a memberof Valley Interfaith Project for 20 years.Over the years, the members of thecommunity have participated in a varietyof projects and actions that provide

support and guidance for people pulling themselvesout of poverty. Another opportunity is available.

VIP is organizing the Central AZ Training Initiative, alabor market intermediary made up of faith-basedinstitutions, employers, local governments, trainingproviders and social service agencies to create newpathways for workers in job training. VIP has a U.S.Labor Market Grant to launch the initiative thissummer. As AZ recovers from the recession, we willneed a highly skilled workforce to sustain and fuel therecovery in the health care, green technology,

aerospace, high tech and biotech sectors. Webelieve AZ needs to invest in strategies now toeducate adult workers to be ready to reenter thelabor market with new careers as these jobs return.

Long-term job training can very difficult for those livingon the edge of crisis. If they can be surrounded by acaring team of people to support and mentor themthrough the process, they can be much moresuccessful. We are looking to form these supportgroups from the Casa community. In addition, we arelooking for those who can be liaisons for finding new

jobs in the community. If this has piqued your

curiosity, please attend the meeting below or contactMargaret Snider at 602-840-2541
