A Dickens Christmas in Lockhart, Lighted Parade this Weekend

This weekend on December 5 and 6 is “A Dickens Christmas in Lockhart” sponsored by the Friends of the Library. On Friday at 7pm, is the Lockhart Chamber Lighted Parade to help kick off the event. The festivities continue from 8am to 7pm on Saturday where you will find the downtown square transformed into a 19th century style scene with Dickens characters, entertainment of all kinds, including SNOW and a snow slide, and activities for children. Food and craft vendors are set up on the Square and your Downtown Merchants will be open later and longer hours. Stay local and start your family Christmas celebration with “A Dickens Christmas in Lockhart!” The activities are free because of gracious sponsors. Please join us!

Randolph-Brooks F.C.U. Kicks Off 13th Annual Chamber Toy Drive

Randolph Brooks FCU is kicking off our 13th Annual Toy Drive with a huge purchase of toys on December 2nd, along with a turkey for each family from Head Start here in Lockhart. The Chamber of Commerce is asking the community and our Chamber members to help with donations for the rest of the toys needed this year. For 2014 we have received requests from 45 families with a total of 127 children. The Chamber’s goal is to give each child 2 toys. Last year, our major contributors were Randolph Brooks FCU along with Todd Blomerth & Patti Payne, Peggy McConnell, Mike & Beverly Annas, ETR Development, IT Solutions, Del & Betty Tally, Clear Creek, Inc., Wendy R, and Sladek Real Es-tate. If you would like to help, please bring an unwrapped new toy and/or a cash donation to the Chamber office no later than the end of this week, Friday, December 5th. We will celebrate the end of our Toy Drive with our annual “Wrapping Party” on Monday, December 8th at 6pm in the Connection Center at First Lockhart Baptist Church, 200 S. Blanco St.. Light refreshments will be provided. Please call the Chamber office at 398-2818 if you are willing to help or need more information.

Lockhart’s Finest nominations Nominations for Lockhart’s Finest are being accepted now through Friday, January 9, 2015. The Lockhart Chamber of Commerce celebrates citizens who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to make Lockhart a better place to live and work. Again this year, the Cham-ber will announce the Award Winners on Friday, January 16, 2015. This is so that the friends, family, and co-workers of the winners can celebrate at the Chamber Ban-quet together on January 24, 2015. At the 80th Annual Chamber Banquet the “Business of the Year” will be awarded to a business that has operated in the Lockhart area for at least five (5) years and has proven their intention to remain an active part of the community. The “Most Worthy Citizen” is awarded to an individual who has demonstrated uncommon dedication to the growth and well being of the Lockhart community. The Chamber will also be taking nominations for “Spirit Awards” which honors individuals on the basis of their contributions to the community they serve and volunteer in. Lastly, the “Agribusiness of the Year” is an honor be-stowed upon an individual who has made outstanding contributions to agriculture. Applications for Lockhart’s Finest can be picked up at the Chamber offices or downloaded from the website: http://www.lockhartchamber.com/pages/EventsPrograming/. It only takes ONE nomination form to have a business or person considered for an award. Remember, the deadline for nomination is Friday, January 9, 2015.

Lockhart Holiday Home Tour Tickets are available for purchase at the Chamber office. Tickets are $10 each. This event generated 812 visits into merchant stores, with $4,650.00 spent locally.

LUNCHEON The monthly Chamber luncheon will be held on Thurs-day, December 11th at 12 noon at First Lockhart Baptist Church Connection Center, 200 S. Blanco. Mark your calendars now for the 80th Annual Lockhart Cham-ber of Commerce Banquet featuring a Casino Night & Live Music on Saturday, January 24, 2015. We will be in San Mar-cos at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Spa and Conference Center, 1001 E. McCarty Lane. Music will be provided by “People’s Choice”, a live cover band out of Austin, along with the traditional casino night, and this year we’ve added a photo booth! Tickets went on sale in mid-November and may be purchased from any Board of Di-rector, or at the Chamber office, 631 S. Colorado. Early Bird tickets are $75 for Chamber members through 1/9/15. For Fu-ture members and tickets purchased after 1/9/15 the price is $100. This event SOLD OUT in 2014 so don’t delay! Sponsorships are available for a limited number of reserved tables so you and your friends and/or employees can sit to-gether. Tables are $900 each and include an advertising “spot” along with other complimentary advertising, preferred place-ment and first-service dining. Individual advertising “spots” without a table are $125 each and available to Chamber mem-bers only to promote their businesses all night long on two big jumbo screens. A note from the Chairman of the Board: Dear Chamber Members, The Board of Directors of the Lockhart Chamber of Com-merce is pleased to announce that Ms. Angela Rawlinson has been named President/CEO. Ms. Rawlinson joined the Chamber in September, 2013 as our Member Services Manager. Since August of 2014, she has been successfully performing the duties of interim president as well as maintaining all other responsibilities associated with effectively managing Chamber business. Ms. Rawlinson possesses over two decades of high-level business & financial management as the former Chief Executive of Business Operations for the largest medical specialty group of its kind in Central Texas. We are very excited, and have the utmost confidence that Ms. Rawlinson will lead our chamber to the best of her abilities as she continues to prove her loyalty and dedication to the betterment of our economic growth to benefit the members of the chamber, as well as all citi-zens of our community.
