THE CHEMISTRY SET – NEW 7” VINYL SINGLE – PRESS RELEASE – OCTOBER 2014 The Chemistry Set and Fruits de Mer Records have teamed up again to release a new 7” coloured vinyl EP – “Elapsed Memories” to be released on 22 November 2014 Formed in 1987, the cult London Psychedelic band The Chemistry Set has 41 releases under their belt. Fans of the band included the late Tony Wilson & John Peel. Cult Arranger/songwriter [and former Electric Prunes member] David Axelrod is also a fan. He said of their music “Real Music! Finally music that makes you think and really listen to!” The Sunday Times recently said of the band “The Psychedelic scientists exquisite English Toytown Acid-Pop songs achieve rare combinations of muscle and melody”. Elapsed Memories” is one of the most ambitious and powerfully psychedelic songs The Chemistry Set have recorded. A five and a half minute trip with stunning instrumentation, textures and beautiful voices building to a thrilling finale. Think Pure English Psychedelic vocals meets The Byrds meet Echo and The Bunnymen meets Big Star and Neil Young on the choruses. A dazzling array of instrumentation from Glissando harps and timpani’s to 12 string Rickenbacker’s and Vox Continentals…. On the B-side is another original “A Cure For The Inflicted Afflicted” and a stunning cover of Jimi Hendrix’s Love or Confusion”. They boys have stripped the song down to 12 string acoustics, sitars, tablas and mellotrons. Imagine Dear Mr Fantasy” era Traffic doing Jimi’s song unplugged and that gives you an idea of this amazing cover! Fruits de Mer is a cult English independent, vinyl-only label. They make beautiful limited edition coloured vinyl. Started in 2008 they have released 70 records and every release has sold out making them highly collectable. On e-bay some of their records have sold for over 300.

Their releases have been played regularly on BBC Radio by DJs like Stuart Maconie, Lauren Laverne, Gideon Coe and Mark Radcliffe and have built a strong reputation in the music press.
