Members One of Another

Rom. 12:4-5 For just as each of us has one body

with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

Things to Do• Identify with a faithful congregation, and place

membership• Pray for other Christians - - Eph. 6:18 - and pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds

of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

• Submit to the eldership - - Hebrews 13:17 Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their

authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account.

• Attend and participate in the assemblies of the congregation Hebrews 10:24-25

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25

not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another - -

• Contribute financially1 Corinthians 16:1-2 Now about the collection for the Lord’s people: Do

Things to Do• Engage personally and directly in the three-

fold work of the congregation– 1) Evangelism - Acts 11:19-21 - Some of them, however,

men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began to speak to Greeks also, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus.

– 2) Edification - Romans 15:14 - I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another.

– 3) Benevolence - Acts 2:44-45 - All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.

• Help maintain unity John 17:20-23- My prayer is not for them alone. I pray

also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. - - - - - - - -- ----23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity.

Things to Do

• Participate in the discipline Gal. 6:1 - Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in

a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently.

2 Thessalonians 3:6, 14-15 - - In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.

• Extend courtesy and hospitality 1 Peter 4:9 - - Offer hospitality to one another without

grumbling.

• Find an individual role and fill it Colossians 4:17 - - Tell Archippus: “See to it that

you complete the ministry you have received in the Lord.”

INVOLVEMENT

• Means - - – participation, cooperation, collaboration,

teamwork, and joint effort– involved in a joint undertakings– total involvement by the individual Christian– congregation as a whole is stronger– The individual is not likely to be separated from

the Lord and the Lord’s people.
