Dear Parishioners Well…as we resumed Ordinary Time in the Church calendar just a couple of weeks ago, I can say that things s ll seem anything BUT ordinary in our daily lives! As we con nue our
new “normal” under the direc ves and guidelines of phase II of the re-opening of RI, I am pleased to report that things are looking promising. Not only does the Covid-19 data tend to point to a favorable trend (hopefully soon a fla ening of the curve), here at St. Augus ne’s I have witnessed uniform, widespread coopera on and compliance with the instruc ons for returning to Mass. THANK YOU! In general, people understand the importance of following the protocols for the safety and health of all. As people of the Good News we are encouraged by this good news as we move forward in faith.
The events in our country these past few weeks have certainly given us cause to reflect upon the structural inequi es and injus ces in our society that need addressing. Racism, hatred and discrimina on are scourges on any civilized society and must be condemned and eradicated. Peaceful protest, respect for authority and differing viewpoints are acceptable. Civil chaos and violence are not. As Chris ans, we believe in the inherent dignity of all human beings created in the likeness and image of God. We believe that God abides in us and is the source of our hope, courage and strength. The awareness of the presence of God gives us the ability to face the difficul es of life while acknowledging that we are the temples of the Holy Spirit. We are created in love to be a community of loving persons. We can all do be er. May the Lord help us to be instruments of peace, unity and healing in a world that so desperately needs it.
Catholic Charity Appeal 2020
We are pleased thus far with the response to this year’s Appeal. We are about $40,000 away from reaching our parish goal of $165,000. This figure is definitely within reach if all those who have given in the past do so again this year. Please make your do-na on or pledge ASAP. Drop it off at the rectory or mail it to 20 Old Road, Providence, RI 02908. As always thank you to all who have already made contribu ons. Your extraordinary generosity will enable so many of our out-reach ministries within the diocese to con nue their good work in the midst of tremendous challenges, especially at this me. May God bless you always for your commitment & kindness. Father Forcier

throughout the world on June 19 2020. It is an opportunity for us to raise our hearts to God for all priests in the exercise of their ministry; that they will be blessed, through our prayers, with God’s grace for their priesthood; that in this worldwide communion of prayer for them, they may experience our gra tude and support; and finally that they will persevere in unity with Christ and his Church and shepherd the Lord’s flock to the safe pastures of his Kingdom.
