Eucharistic Adoration—the Eucharist is exposed in
our church (since the chapel is too small for us to
keep the CDC 6 foot distancing) on Wednesdays
from 8 AM to 5 PM. Additionally, the church will
still be opened 8 AM to 5PM daily for people to come and
visit and be silent and present with the Lord. Any question
please call Daryl Nuebecker 860-507-6583.
Our Parish office hours are Monday
through Wednesday 9:30 am to 2:30
pm , Thursday 9:30 am to 12:00 pm. If
possible, please make an appointment and remember to
keep the CDC rules of wearing a mask and social distancing.
Second Sunday of Advent December 6, 2020 “Go up onto a high mountain, Zion, herald of glad tidings; cry out at the top of your voice, Jerusalem, herald of good
news! Fear not to cry out and say to the cities of Judah: Here is your God! He comes with power, the Lord God, who
rules by his strong arm... Like a shepherd he feeds his flock, in his arms he gathers the lambs, carrying them in his
bosom, and leading the ewes with care.”
Writing centuries before Christ, the prophet calls us today to once again make the same great announcement. The ‘hear
ye, hear ye’ of the Isaiah era, echoes in our hearts as we speak not only of the need of Jesus’ saving grace, but its
coming to us once more. We too are called to reveal His coming in grace, His power.
Today we call this the work of heralding ‘evangelization’, and our advent task is to prepare His way and make sure He is
known. The same Jesus feeds, gathers and carries us, leading with care. What a beautiful image!

Ministries
Food for the Hungry: In our tenth month of the pandemic, food insecurity in our local community continues. As individuals and families struggle to make ends meet, the Church of St. Timothy is committed to helping “Feed the Hungry.” Some ways you can help are:
Bringing Donations to our church: shop for non-perishable food items (see suggested list of items below) and drop off in the vestibule “Feed the Hungry” baskets.
Host A Food Drive - consider hosting a neighborhood food drive and bring the items to our church or deliver to the West Hartford Food Panty. These drives are very successful, a 2-week duration seems to be the best timeframe to run such drives. If you need any help in planning, organizing, running a food drive, please contact Carolyn Malon at [email protected] or call/text her at (860) 604-3483.
Suggested Items to bring/collect are: Food: Canned beans, Canned chicken/spam, Pasta. Spaghetti sauce, Rice, Nuts, Applesauce, Canned fish, Cooking oil, Granola bars, Instant mashed potatoes, Peanut butter, Soup, Cereal and Nonfood items: Detergent, Soap products
Make Sandwiches: St Timothy and St Thomas the Apostle Parishes are working together on the 3rd Tuesday of every Month to provide sandwiches to Shelters in Hartford. Prepared sandwiches are brought to St Timothy’s church between 7:30 AM and 12:30 PM and placed in coolers in the church vestibule. Sandwiches are “very simple” consisting of meat, cheese and bread, with no condiments. We invite you all to participate on December 15th. For more information, see the flyer enclosed. If you have questions or need information, please contact Barbara Carpenter at [email protected].
Shelters’ Needs: People are people and basic needs are the
same for everyone. Underwear (men’s and women’s sizes x-
small to x-large), socks, toothpaste, soap, deodorant are
great items for the shelters. If you have basics to share, we
will gladly deliver them to the shelters for you. Just drop them
off at church any day!
Social Justice Ministry
December SJM Focus: In December 2020, SJM is not conducting a “December Drive”, we are focusing and encouraging all parishioners to support the “Giving Tree” being conducted by St Timothy’s Faith Formation Program – this Giving Tree is Faith in Action and will help provide some Christmas Love and Joy to families and children. As for SJM, we are supporting the Giving Tree! We just ask for your continued support to feed the hungry by bringing food donations to our Church, hosting a food drive or making sandwiches as people need to eat every day of the year…. We have much gratitude for all you have done through a tough 2020 to help those in need. Thank you from the bottom of our Hearts.
Christmas Flowers Offering: St Timothy’s collection
envelopes include one for “Christmas Flowers”. In the
Pandemic Year 2020 our ordinary collections have been
reduced. In order to make our church environment beautiful
for our Christmas Liturgy, we encourage you to consider an
offering for “Christmas Flowers”. You can do this by putting
the envelope in the collection box or using online giving or
mailing a check to St. Timothy’s Rectory with a note that it is
for Christmas Flowers. Let us celebrate
the birth of Christ into our world with a
creche and sanctuary that is bedecked in
red poinsettias and bright greenery. Let
us rejoice at Christmas with splendor in
our hearts. Thank you for considering
this request and as always, thank you for
your generosity.

A Prayer when Putting on a Mask
By Amy Ekeh
Loving God,
I wear this mask to protect others.
I offer you any discomfort it may bring me.
I pray for those who are ill today.
While my face is covered,
may my eyes look upon the world with your love.
Amen.
Giving Tree
During the Advent season we will once again be collecting gifts and gift cards to benefit needy families of Charter Oak Elementary School for the holidays. If you would like to contribute, please take a tag from the tree and return the unwrapped item to church by December 17th.
