March came, and stayed, like a lion, begging our patience to see the lamb. Still, I’m confident balmier days are ahead, and with them will come much life and goodness at The Cobb School. Although the wind whips, there’s a spring in everyone’s step.

Our sixth years are off to a spectacular last leg, and I look forward to witnessing their continued growth from now until June. Those of you who saw their leadership throughout Opera Week will not be surprised to learn that they were featured in the Hartford Courant’s photo gallery of The Miracle Tree, earned themselves the cover story of this month’s Simsbury Life, have planned their sixth grade trip, garnered acceptance letters from every middle school they applied to, and continue to excel in their studies. Over the next two months, they will work together, celebrate together, and grow to-gether until they are recognized together as The Cobb School’s class of 2013. I am proud of our sixth years and will continue to look to them as the elders of our school.

The spring also signals our annual Auction, Circus Week, parent coffees, field trips, after-school clubs, Suzuki music, PIC and YCC meetings, Mother’s Day celebrations, picnics, and our beloved Recognition Ceremony. With pick-up moving outside, the playground has come to life. I look forward to connecting with you on sunny after-noons, and I am grateful that we can now emerge from our winter cocoons.

Lastly, I am pleased to announce that Maureen Scudder has been chosen to be a “book giver” at The Cobb School on World Book Night, April 23, 2013. We are proud to be part of this international movement to encourage literacy. Please join me in thanking our Director of Communications for helping the world see that literacy matters deeply to all of us at The Cobb School.

Cobb in the News...

Bids and Blooms: The Cobb School’s Annual Spring Auction!

RSVPs to the Auction are due TODAY so we kindly ask that you call 860.658.1144 or email laura.radmore@cobbschool to let us know you’ll be joining us for our most important fundraising event of the year. All community members, from our YCC parents to our Up-per Elementary, are encouraged to attend this fabulous party at The Riverview in Simsbury on April 5 starting at 6:30pm. Don’t be shy. We value your company and your support. Please be part of the spirit of giving at The Cobb School and purchase your ticket today. If you have not yet donated a bottle of wine to the Cobb Wine Cellar, there’s still time. These beautiful baskets full of delicious wines from around the world are a huge raffle hit. We would be grateful if you donated a bottle to help make this prize an auction favorite. Please drop your bottles with Miss Margaret, and be sure to buy your raffle tickets all next week on the playground and in Reception. Pick up tickets for friends and family too. Re-member you don’t have to attend to win. Every class is putting the final touches on their amazing auction projects. These classroom works of art generate much excitement the evening of the event, but even if you can’t be there, you still have a chance to win. Just pick up your proxy bidding form on the play-ground, in Reception, or from Laura Radmore and submit your bid by April 4.
