The Week Ahead... The Cobb Tales A Message from Mary Lou The Cobb School, Montessori 112 Sand Hill Road Simsbury, CT 06070 www.cobbschool.com Cobb on Facebook and Twitter Monday, November 14 Conference Sign-up in Nest 3:15-4:30 Acorn Singers At times it seems Storm Alfred never came. I see our smiling families and forget for a moment that people’s lives were turned upside down on the afternoon of October 29th. But then something reminds me that all is not exactly business as usual. There are small gifts that were delivered as byproducts of the storm. More time with family. More time with friends. Earlier bedtimes perhaps. But the greatest gifts were the thousands of teachable moments we had for our children. I bet you would agree, and I hope you will keep teaching these lessons. Business has resumed at The Cobb School but not without small changes. On Tues- day we invited the entire parent community in for coffee and storytelling. On Wednesday we hosted a guided meditation. On Thursday we launched a drive for the Simsbury Food Pantry. And on Friday we told parents to have a treat at Harvest Café on us. The storm shifted our thinking and our approach for two very unusual weeks. I don’t want to lose the insight I’ve gained from the many dark days. One way I plan to hold on to it is by inviting all of you every Wednesday until the December break for a meditation in the Nest led by Cobb School parent and yoga instructor Kristen Cork. Do you want to feel more grounded? More peaceful? More centered? I do. Please join me on Wednesday mornings. Mary Lou This week’s slideshow provides a peek into the Young Children’s Community while reminding us that “we are okay.” Storm Alfred shook our sensibilities, but the chil- dren brought us right back to what is real, what is important and what we know to be true: “We are okay. We are alright.” They are too. Please click the ACORN and en- joy images of the youngest among us. What a beautiful community in a beautiful space.
