In Case You Missed These…

Mark soifer—Ocean City’s Publicist Extraordinaire As promised, Mark informed us of the many and varied happenings in Ocean City. Topping the list is the 2nd Mr. Mature America Pageant, March 28. The Great Easter Egg Hunt will be held on March 28 & April 4. And, let’s not forget the WOOF ’N PAWS Pet Fashion Show on April 4th. Our evening ended with Mark’s reading of his poetry. It was an informative, reflective, and funny session.

Colony Club Meeting—February 16

and the winner is… Channon Styer outspelled a field of 25 fifth graders at the Colony Club Spelling Bee held at the Ocean City Middle School. For the win, Channon successfully spelled, perturb. Congratulations, Channon!

Nancy Rice, Elder Law… The weather surely played a role in the attendance for February’s meeting…or were we missing our Snow Birds? No matter the reason, the topic of Elder Law was presented with humor, and, of course pertinent information! Nancy Rice helped clarify the importance of having a living will and Power of Attorney as we all age or support aging parents. Elders ’R Us (as per Jane) were made aware of the 2 taxes New Jersey imposes—Federal Estate and Inheritance. Nancy provided further insight as she answered several questions related to the aforementioned topics. She cautioned everyone to take heed…for some decisions, “…there are no take-backs…”

Overall, Nancy made everyone aware of the importance of planning while we are still, as the Irish say, “…on this side of the grass!”
